  • how much salt do you add if you want it to be more saltier? (after washing the cabbage that is)

  • do i have to use the ginger ?

  • Hi reya93,

You can keep them in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks.

    Have a nice day~:)

  • oh and a question that i have been wanting to ask someone, how long does a kimchi last for?? i mean when does it go bad???

  • i have been wanting to make kimchi for so long but the videos i have watched before were too complicated for me.. on one video i watched, the lady used rice flour so i was a bit hesitant about making one.. thank you for this tutorial, now it will be easier for me to make kimchi.. i want to taste home made kimchi cos i remember my korean friend told me that the kimchi that are in packages taste quite wierd and so far, that is what i have tried.. it did taste and smell a bit wierd..

  • is wombok cabbage the same as napa cabbage cause im curious if i could use it instead of napa cabbage

  • Hi~ Please keep them in the refrigerator~

Thank you for watching Korean Cuisine ~

    Have a nice day:)

  • what do we do after we've made it? i mean do how do we store it,for how long and etc?

  • Hi~ Thank you for watching Korean Cuisine!

You can make Kimchi without the radish.

    Have a delicious day:)

  • @koreancuisine1 thank you

  • I cant find daikon or korean radish here in the Philippines... :( Can I make it without the radish?

  • @saddako214 I used the regular radish i found at sm hypermarket. It works well too. :) Kinda sweet and balances the flavor. ^_^

  • @caille101 Thanks, I just finished making mine. My family won't eat it though(I guess I'll have the KIMCHI for myself). LOL

  • @saddako214 I know just how you feel. The rest of my family doesn't eat kimchi. xD I dunno why!!!

  • Annyeong haseyo Mrs kim

    I am pierre from lebanon

I had ate kimchi gabbage once in my korean friend house

I want to make kimchi also but the problem is that I can't found korean radish in lebanese store . so what can I put istead of korean radish ?

  • @MrPierrekim Maybe instead of getting the Korean radish you could use a lot of smaller radishes. In America, I have never seen a radish of that size before, if they don't have a difference in taste, I would use a mass amount of smaller radishes.

  • @OtakuFriendsX3 10x for ur advice :) but does the radish that we both know taste like korean radish ? anyway have a nice day

  • @MrPierrekim I've never had Korean Radish, so I really don't know. But if it comes down to it, that you can't make the dish with the Korean Radish, might as well use a substitute. :P No problem, you too! :D

  • Korean home food I eat this every week with rice

  • like!! :D

  • MA'AM I THINK YOU FORGOT TO ADD THE GINGER..

  • I use vegetarian oyster sauce to replace fish sauce. Cause I want it to be thoroughly vegetarian. It turns out OK. This time I forgot to put radish - so replaced with carrots instead,

  • thank you, Anna Kim ! I like kimchi so much ! I'll follow this to make kimchi right now !

  • I'm inspired of Korean food thank to kdramas now I'm going to cook Korean too ;))

  • can i use chili paste instead of pepper flakes?

  • Looks so damn DELICIOUS!

  • i have a question.. does kimchi tastes salty? or just right?

  • magic bullet fixes everything

  • ur doggy cuteeee

please introduce him to us someday

  • How to make kyochan chicken

  • Can I just say that you're very beautiful and you have a lovely accent? xD I love Korean food and I'm definitely going to try this tomorrow!

  • HEY... WHERE DID THE GINGER GO? in the sauce? or was it just minced/sliced then mixed into the cabbage?

  • Just wondering since I can't find pepper powder anywhere where I live can I just use chilli powder instead? thanks

  • @innocentprinzess Yes, chili or red pepper are the main ingredients.

  • amazinly fresh and delicious.. I was looking for the name of this dish thank you!

  • A couple of other places say that we need to put kimchi in a glass jar with an air-tight lid for three days. IS that true.

You didn't mention how to ferment it.

Can I just put in in the bowl and cover with a lid and leave it at room temperature for a day? Please tell me as I have just made it and now I am not sure what to do next.

  • does it matter that you don't use sweet rice flour?

  • awww shes sooo cute....she reminds me of my mom ... :)

  • Thanks for your video it is very helpful. Can I use shrimp paste instead of fish/anchoivy sauce?

  • Take the apple and pear and garlic and put it in your magic bullet, and BAM! It's done. lol

  • Wow! Thanks

  • is red pepper powder the same as paprika?

  • @kialxiong Not exactly. Paprika is bell pepper and not spicy, while red pepper is chili and thus spicy, but they're all variations just like muskmelons and honeydew melons - they're still melons.

  • i follow all your tutorial but my kimchi paste doesn't look the same. it colors peach with a little of orange, does it need more red pepper???

  • How long can i keep my kimchi after i have made it?

  • :D @ 3:28 i see a doggy xD lol

  • i made kimchi just now... using your recipe.. i was making kimchi without adding pear and apple, but I guess you're right.. the apple and pear added a sweet flavor to the kimchi. first time i put apple and pear in kimchi and it tasted good. but i forgot to put ginger!! hehehe... i'll just add later... this is really an easy way of making kimchi. is there a difference in cutting the napa cabbage into bite size than just cutting it in halves (whole) in terms of flavor and storage? just asking

  • Im was so hungry for kimchi after i watched this that i went and bought instant kimchi and made kimchi rice....yummy

  • that is a BIG bowl

  • GAHH. I'M SO HUNGRY NOW. WHY DID I WATCH THIS?

  • How about adding kimchi juice into the kimchi paste?

  • ohh its really great that you make this.. komasimida :D

i really really want to know what the ingredis are and

how it taste i must make it at home.. :D

  • I love kimchi :D

  • Thank you, I always ask mom and she says it takes too long to make and she does'n't feel like it

  • how long kimchi will sour??

  • This is awesome. My husband spent a year in South Korea and he misses the food. There is only one Korean restaurant in our area, but it's an hour away, so we don't get there often. I am growing cabbages in my garden this year and this will be a great way to preserve them.

  • Hi~

    It's nice to meet you!

It is not very important and If you don't have the fish sauce you can use just salt.

    Have a great weekend~^_^*

  • i'll try making your recipe tonight...thanks for sharing and more power..

  • thank you it was very easy!!!! ^^

  • I wish I can taste it!

  • @IzzyRinNel5110 My teacher brought some to class, since we were learning about fermentation. It taste really good its like a sweet and spice salad, and crunchy. I tried some, and have been looking for recipes since.

  • i thought she said annyeong when she was saying onion..Lol

  • u should show how to make homemade ramen without the store bought packets

  • Annyeong

I Heard Kimchi Is Really Spicy. Is It True? And I Have A Korean Mother Of A Student At My Taekwondo School And She Was Saying: I'll Have to Bring In Some Kimchi And See If You're Korea Worthy.

We Were Just Messing Around Because I Was Saying I Was A Korea Geek And She also Said: Kimchi Smells Really... Really Bad Too.

    Does Kimchi Smell Bad???

  • @MsBananas602 It depends how you make it. if you like it really spicy, you can make it that way, but it doesn't have to be. Kimchi can be pungent, but you can get used to it :)

  • thank you for sharing this. it looks great. i'm going to go try it now :)

  • Can the same receipe apply for radish kimchi?

  • very healthy. thanks :)

  • yum!

  • my question: if you rinse the cabbage 3 times (as i've also seen in other videos) wouldn't that remove the salt? don't you need salt in the brine to properly pickle the kimchi? this looks like a recipe for disaster - adding a bunch of ingredients together and allowing it to rot. does leaving the salt in the cabbage for 2 hours impregnate it with enough to allow it to ferment? confused.

  • we can use any kind of cabbage, right? or does it work best with napa cabbage?

  • Thank you very much for this interesting and tasty information!

The best food is made of pure ingredients and by an easy way of cooking.

    Kimchi complies to these requirements:-)

    Best regards from Denmark.

  • Hi~

Thank you very much for watching Korean Cuisine~

    You can omitted the sugar.

    Have a great day :)

  • First your videos are amazing. Well executed and explained! I started cooking Korean because I craved it so much. I had Korean roommate in college. Where I live we have many Korean restaurants but not very good. Only Toronto, I have found restaurants comparable to Korea. It is only when I visit there I eat out Korean. I do have one question, why do you not add fresh oysters? Is this another form of kimchi or different variation? I've subscribed keep up great work!

  • Dear Mrs. Kim,

I cannot have sugar. Is it possible not to add sugar? Can I use something else instead of sugar? I have seen kimchi recipes with no sugar. Do I need to change the amount of red pepper if I do not add sugar? Thank you very much. Kamsahamnida.

  • @peacefulnature10 When I first learned to make kimchi I was told that the sugar was crucial because it helps feed the bacteria which aids in the fermentation process. It is not that much though. Maybe Mrs. Kim may recommend adding more fruit perhaps.

  • @dolcemaddalena Thank you for your reply. I assume sugar is important for fermentation, however I have seen official recipes with no sugar. I am just wondering - how did they do it in ancient Korea before the sugar became available? What did they use - natural honey? Thanks again! Or, and do I have to leave it on the counter top to ferment first at room temperature or can the fermentation occur in refrigerator as well?

  • @peacefulnature10 I am not Korean so I am not so familiar with the ancient cooking traditions. I remembered when my roommate's mother showed me how to make kimchi. She used probably about 1/2 cup sugar. But the recipe was HUGE. I mean she used about 10 cabbages. The amount was not that much really. If you cannot have real sugar I would suggest adding maybe a whole asian pear instead of half. The pear has natural sugars, more than apples. Don't use sugar substitute bc it will not work.

  • Excellent video! Well done.. Thank you :)

  • It tasted weird when I first finished mixing everything. Not what I imagined it to be..

But once the fermentation kicks in.. Wow!

  • @sillypigglet where should i keep it to ferment and how long wdoes that usually take?

  • @DowntownClown69 I stored the kimchi in room temperature overnight and in the fridge the next day. I'm living in Singapore. The weather can be quite humid and hot. I think it tastes real good from the third day onwards..

  • @sillypigglet awesome thank you

  • Hi~ it's nice to meet you!

Yes,You can just use salt for the taste it~

    Have a great day :)

  • is it ok if i don't use fish sauce or anchovy sauce????

  • You're great! Kamsamnida :)

  • this video shows the easiest way to make it :) thank you for sharing :D

  • Hi~

You can leave in the salty water for 2hrs.

    Have a great day :)

  • how many hours i should leave the napa cabbage in the salty water ? ,, thanx for the video ^__^

  • Great Video :)

  • Kamsahamnida for the Kimchi tutorial. :D

  • Hi, what is the difference between the whole cabbage and the cut cabbage for kimchi making ? Does it taste different or the cut cabbage is just an easier way to handle ?

    Thanks :)

  • Hi~ there,

Thank you for watching Korean Cuisine~

I never used soya sauce before and You can give it try!

If you don't like the fish sauce for the seasoning then you can use salt instead.

    Have a nice day:)

  • Do you have to use fish or anchovy sauce? Can you use soya sauce?
