The liquid was it's waste and internal organs basically they have 1 week to live after they hatch or whatever and they can't eat or pee during tht week so they just get rid of it there and then
hey, i'm going to be feeding my bearded dragon some Goliath worms soon and was wondering if they could eat these moths too, I wouldn't do it on purpose but just in case, please respond. thanks.
@loveless232 After coming out of the cocoon, I understand that their wings must dry out in order to completely unfold or something like that. However, it was only out of its cocoon for a matter of minutes before I fed it to my tegu, which was the initial purpose of the worms.
@loveless232 the blood in its fat little body flows into the wings and they become bigger if this person didnt feed it to its pet it would have been able to fly
@HexaFox I didn't specifically heat them at all, however the room they were in had many heat sources heating many reptile cages, so the room was definitely not cold. As far as how long it took, I can't really remember, it was a while ago that I did this... Looking back, the best answer I can give you is it took a few weeks. Maybe three weeks? Again, I don't remember.
that liquid was what they do after hatching they don't eat as a moth so they throw liquid i forgot why but yea they begin mating then lay eggs and die without eating
they turn into hawk moths and they pupate better when they can dig into a coconut fiber substrait. that moths wings should have spread out at least 4 inches o.O gosh my beardie is a horn worm hog... ^^ u can feed the moths also but you have to tear there wings off cus the dust can make ur pet sick.

Did the wings ever get bigger, or did they remain too small to fly?

i would think that the excretion was part of a deffence mechanism, so it would probably stink bad so that predators wouldnt bother eating it.
coulterboy1289 2 years ago
That's what I suspect, however the liquid did not have any offensive odor to it. I at least don't recall anything...
