Love this video, saw it on TV about 15 years ago.. Phil also performed an absolutely beautiful instrumental called Love & Peace. I would soooo love to see that again if you have it?
Phil Upchurch is an original and is so overlooked. I've been a fan of his since 1969 when he did the amazing track "Adam & Charlene" and the LP "Darkness, Darkness" abit later. One of the few guitarists to take really scary chances when playing and leave you on the edge of your seat. I wish him everything that's good.
This is Awesome! Phil also has a very talented son who plays drums. He came through my city about 5 years ago with this band from washinton d c and I let him sit in on my drums. Let me tell ya I didn't even wanna get up there the rest of the night, he was that good. He comes from good stock. Phil sounds great here.
Last time I talked with Mr. Upchurch was in Nashville in the 1990s, he's merely an absolutely great man. How can I describe that gig at Manhattan's in Nashville? He, Herman Riley, Jimmy Jackson, and no less than Jimmy Smith were there. How did they do? Well, in the immortal words of Dizzie Gillespie, "They to'm up, baby!" (They torn them up, baby!)
Who is the drummer? He looks like he could be a relative of the Ventures Mel Taylor.

Well.. As for my husband, all I can say is, "The best is yet to come and you have not heard anything yet."
Brace yourselves
