The fact of the matter is that it is precisely speech with which people disagree or are offended that is protected under the constitution. So, someone in the public doesn't like what he hears. He has 3 options.
1. Ignore the speaker.
2. Rebut the speaker with his own speech
3. Leave

Apparently the cop didn't have the ability to stop the preacher from doing it, since there is no law against it. This video was about the harassing attempt at intimidation and the officer's threats. The officer didn't command the preacher not to use the bullhorn. All he ended up doing was asking the preacher where he was from, which was an irrelevancy, and using that opportunity to throw his weight around.
The preacher did nothing wrong, which is why the cop walked away in frustration.
street preachers are annoying people who think they are making a difference but they aren't--especially in places like the Vegas Strip. No ranting fool with a bull horn is going to sway a person there. Street preachers are frustrated because they have no real relevance in society; they think our 'sins' are bringing the wrath of God upon us. Not ALL cops are like that...but there seems to be an increasing number of bad ones. That ones an asshole & if there was no camera and less witnesses, he'd have beat you & slapped you in cuffs. There are considered three levels of contact that an officer can make with a civilian. Consensual Encounter, Investigative detention (aka "Terry" Stop) and Arrest.
In this case it was clearly a consensual encounter. If he had made a "terry" stop you could have held you in temporary "seizure" for no longer than 60 minutes.

The fact of the matter is that it is precisely speech with which people disagree or are offended that is protected under the constitution. So, someone in the public doesn't like what he hears. He has 3 options.
1. Ignore the speaker.
2. Rebut the speaker with his own speech
3. Leave
He doesn't have the right to have the speech with which he disagrees silences by the cops.

Apparently the cop didn't have the ability to stop the preacher from doing it, since there is no law against it. This video was about the harassing attempt at intimidation and the officer's threats. The officer didn't command the preacher not to use the bullhorn. All he ended up doing was asking the preacher where he was from, which was an irrelevancy, and using that opportunity to throw his weight around.
The preacher did nothing wrong, which is why the cop walked away in frustration.

street preachers are annoying people who think they are making a difference but they aren't--especially in places like the Vegas Strip. No ranting fool with a bull horn is going to sway a person there. Street preachers are frustrated because they have no real relevance in society; they think our 'sins' are bringing the wrath of God upon us. Many of these ranters have been kicked out of there own churches because they are so annoying and drawn to conflict.

Not ALL cops are like that...but there seems to be an increasing number of bad ones. That ones an asshole & if there was no camera and less witnesses, he'd have beat you & slapped you in cuffs. God get that dirt bag. Seems to be an increase in those types in the forces now a days. cite the ordinance, since you know it, right? they always stay on the public sidewalks, even at permittied events. when they go to campuses, they stay on the public parts of the campus and stay below the decibel limits. they even send their own into the building, to verify that they cannot be heard from inside.

Well, ordinances are different from city to city, let alone state to state. For example, both New York and Chicago require permits for any device that electronically amplifies sound (that means the megaphone, regardless of how loud it is, you need a permit). Cops have the right to ask for identification but you do not have to consent to any other conversation with them is they are not detaining you. You also have the right to watch the police via video camera . It is perfectly legal to monitor the activity of public servants. While it may not be the same case in Nevada, maybe you should research laws in your home state, get familiar with what you can and can't do. 1.There on has to be suspicion to make an Investigative detention. The officer was merely asking you a question. He never forced you to do anything besides taking the camera out of his face. If you had it in his face and/or you put your hand on his face. That is considered assault. Clearly you didn't assault him, since he didn't arrest you. He did his job, and you were disrupting that job with the camera.

Wow, if you think that is actual harassment you should go read the law. Not just the constitution but also the law when it comes to what officers can and can't do.
There are considered three levels of contact that an officer can make with a civilian. Consensual Encounter, Investigative detention (aka "Terry" Stop) and Arrest.
In this case it was clearly a consensual encounter. If he had made a "terry" stop you could have held you in temporary "seizure" for no longer than 60 minutes.

There will come a time where every human being is tagged and marked and will have constant surveillance on them. A threat must have 1.origin, 2.purpose, 3.a stated action, 4.belief of that action, 5.ability to carry out the action. So if I say "Your a dead Man" to you, that's not a threat because you're really alive- not dead. But if I'm holding a knife and say "I'm going to kill you". Thats Origin, Purpose, and very believable. God bless.

Last time I checked Police Officers were also citizens having the same constitutional rights as everyone else... meaning if a Police Officer does NOT consent to being video taped he is awarded the right to do so. Really want to video tape someone... try taping gangsters gang banging.

There wasn't one. He stayed away from us. His supervisor probably told him we were allowed to do what we were doing and to leave us alone.

You're right that a police state is coming. All the government wants us to do is maintain ourselves as mass comsumption units. What the officer did was simply to act like a bully, as can obviously be seen in his implicit threat about a problem later on. The leftists who sympathize with the thug police officer in this video need to WAKE UP and realize their hypocrisy. They sympathize with him based on their hatred of the preacher's message.

What police state do you see? The police was asking simply, standard question. I do, however, agree that he should not have threatened to have a problem later on. Oh and last time I checked, police officers were allowed to worship God also...

He has a right not to be filmed if he does not want to I know officers that would have done allot worse maybe even got physical all he was doing was investigating as a police officer does. If an officers asked you to do something just do it, he didnt ask you to strip for him.

If a police officer asks you to do something that goes against you constitutional rights you don't have to obey it. Remember they serve the public not the other way around. The reason I was over thee was because he was threatening another street preacher.

Yah but it does not reflect a good testimony. Jesus said if someone compels you to go an extra mile...do it" He said this because by law the Romans were allowed to make a Jew carry his equipment for a 1 mile journey. The Soldiers took advantage of this and after 1 mile, made the Jew drop the luggage and pick it up again and forced them to go another mile. It's illegal, but your representing Christ.

Jesus had every right to be freed when he was crucified. He was falsely accused and was innocent but found guilty, nevertheless, he submitted. I'm not saying to be a complete fool and always obey abuse of power, but it's the path of humility thats a better first choice. Bravo for standing up for a Christian brother and for doing the Lord's work.

Someone was saying, " God is no longer winking at our sins," on one. Sorry, as far as license goes, I meant permit to use one. Many cities require one. When you go and preach like that, where people don't want to hear it, people can become belligerent. That is what police are concerned with as far as preaching goes. As for calling me Einstein, I didn't call you any names. I only stated the way the situation appeared to me. BTW, I think that Vegas is the modern day Gamorah.

Seems to me like the officer was only curious about where the guys were from and wanted to chat a little...but instead of them trying to be polite and spread the word...the guy with the camera got defensive which also put the officer on the defense...those who preach gods word shouldn't be so bias or judgmental...think about it.
