i seen a 1/2 ton 1500 chevy single cab short bed with a cummins 6.7l at the san marcus river last week.i called him a idiot for putting stacks on a 1/2 ton gas rig.but the mutha fukker started it up and nothing but black smoke spewed from the stacks.im buying a 98 chevy i wanna put a cummins in
@dieselfanaticIN People ask this alot... The big difference is if you can do the work yourself. You are going to need to know how to fabricate. Do you have a welder, plasma cutter, etc? I'm just shy of 7 grand doing the swap in my truck and I still need to do the exhaust, and I shopped around for a long time for alot of the parts, but I also splurged on the 6 speed transmission. I'd say it can be done between 5 and 10 grand depending on what stuff you want. Plus ~250 hours labor.
that was for the bigger truck devision im sure,i talked to a cummins rep about ford owning any part of cummins he said NO WAY NO HOW! ford tried to sue cummins in the late 80s for doing the deal with dodge. SCREW ford!!!!
you think after all the humiliation and all the truck market they loss you think G.M. would put a I6 built by another company in there trucks they v8 chevy diesels suck. they should have put the 7.8L isuzu rather than tell isuzu to try and make the 6.5L work a.k.a. 6.6 duramax which also sucks.
no they have a new size of cummins though unless you mean in the future or 09 maybe i don't know but last time i checked was 08 models its a bigger more powerful cummins
Yea who doesn't know that. anyways dodge has a good contract on onetons ford already tried to use a cummings and they even annouced they were going to go with cummins back in 99 but they couldn't my point g.m. owned (before) a large part of isuzu and isuzu diesels are great engines and some of the cleanest diesels in the world in fact the d-max pickup is the cleanest pick up in its class in the world an Isuzu i6 would have gave cummins a run for their money i mean g.m. us to be the top one ton
I am in the process of rebuilding my Chevy Cummins I built 3 years ago bugger lift plan on making it Twin Turbo and a ton more goodies

yes but my point is that dodge does notmanufacture the cummins engine. You can even get a Cummins in the heavy duty fords(F-650).
