lmao, i did not expect that one. who knew lasorda was a sailor. lol, he starts out composed but completely loses it. hilarious, bevacqua really got under his skin.
tell me that picture at 0:37 doesn't look like bill clinton?
I used to hear this tape all the time on the Jim Healy radio show on KMPC. It still makes me laugh. The other tape Jim would play quite often was of a reporter asking Tommy "What did you think of Kingman's performance?"
@lbccvikes Used to listen to Healey a lot too, but my favorite Lasorda tirade was the one about Garvey needing an oar to hit the ball. Timeless, and towards the end of that one Tommy loses it way more than in any of the other tapes.
The mooks here just don't understand:, if you're manager, you don't have to tell any pitcher when to throw at someone, they already know the code. Tommy knows baseball and all the haters can kiss his 2 rings and his Italian ass.

The REAL Tommy Lasorda has stepped up to the plate. People around the country don't know (or hear) the REAL Tommy Lasorda until they venture into the Los Angeles area and hear the bile that comes out of his mouth. A true Dodger asshole if I ever saw one........
Kurt Bevacqua. . . the only memory I have of Kurt is his appearance on that 1970s Topps Baseball Card, blowing this big-ass bubblegum bubble. . . in fact, I think he held some sort of record for blowing the largest bubble. I really don't know what Kurt Bevacqua ever did as a major leaguer. My guess is that he probably didn't do much.
Tom LaSorda said that he loved going to Las Vagas and join Liberace in his hot tob full of vasoline.LaSorda used to bring Steve Garvey,Don Sutton and Glenn Burke with him and take turns getting fist fucked by Jim Nabors and Charles Nelson Reilly.
For those of you who live in L.A. there was a sportscaster by the name of Jim Healy
who first introduced these Lasorda tapes on his 5:30 drive home show which was second to none. The best 30 minute sports show in radio history..RIP Mr. Healy
@joraider08 Amen to that. Healy was THE BEST. These tapes were almost funnier with the bleeps in them than they are here uncensored. Still, the tirade about Garvey needing an oar to hit the ball is Lasorda's best, IMHO, though this and the Kingman tape are close seconds.
Love him or hate him, Lasorda is certainly colorful. I remember when this happened. He had a long standing feud with Lefevre so he got his chance to take a dig at him as well.
Im a life long padres fan but I love this. As much as I dislike (dont hate just dislike) the dodgers, I LOVE TOMMY. One of the greatest baseball personalities ever
So it turns out MLB's "Ambassador" is just a foul-mouthed old man. Ha! Years ago my father played golf with former Dodgers catcher Steve Yeager and he had a story about Lasorda. In the '80 season Lasorda called a clubhouse meeting in Montreal during a 6-game losing streak. B4 the meeting, Yeager and Rick Monday got together and decided to count the F-bombs Lasorda will drop for an over/under pool the team will bet on. In a 10-minute Tommy tirade, Yeager counts 148 and Monday counts 152!
In today's day & age that kind of manager isn't as necessary. Torre's been succesful because he doesn't get too high or low. I understand what you're saying, but I think one of the keys to being a good manager today is being under control. LaRussa is intense, Piniella too, but there is such thing as an attitude rubbing off negatively on the players. In New York Torre was outwardly emotionless, but he had some meetings with players where he yelled LOUDLY. It's better to keep things in-house.
C'mon Tommy. Would you please just come right out and tell us how you feel?

Tommy always was a class act.
Disowned his gay son who died of AIDS in 1991. Got rid of Glenn Burke who was an openly gay player. Patronized prostitutes.
By the way, at least Bevacqua made it to the major leagues which is a lot farther than old Tommy got.

@wildbunch
You are right. He pitched a grand total of 4 innings in '55 and had a 13.50 ERA. He's still a fat, low-class sack of shit.
46spoony 6 months ago
Lasorda lies when he says he never ordered any pitcher to throw at someone. Any manager of his era has done this, heck most modern managers do it.
