The gibson explorer he uses has a very distinct sound of its own. he of course also uses some effect pedals, echo/reverb and distortion/overdrive. Indeed this is for me also his best solo. (Fan since '81)
@Leetje12345 most likely he's using the Memory Man Deluxe pedal which is delay(the main effect), and chorus. Combine the two and you get a reverb effect additionally. The the sound may have additional treatment with reverb here, but probably not. An overdriven(less or more) amp gives the overdrive distortion without any pedal, and depth of-a-reverb-sort. And plus it's a top boost VoxAC30 amp, the clearest deepest overdriven sound available. Like a white-hot crystalline craggy expansive cave
I really disagree here. I wouldn't call albums like UF, JT, AB, Zooropa and Pop sell-outs. ATYCLB and Bomb are quite straight to the point, but the whole catalogue is very diverse imo. I think No Line On The Horizon will be amazing too.
It's funny...somewhere in between these years and the late 80s Adam Clayton lost all charisma, passion, and inspiration to play his instrument. I mean, the early basslines are by no means difficult or technically proficient, but they are inspired....very different from the elementary basic root notes and uninspired simplicity of the later 80s and on. It's like as he aged, his skill did not progress and his inspiration decreased, causing his lack of proficiency to totally stand out.
I think you're analysing it a bit too much. After the War album the entire band went soft, not just Adam. In other words, they sold out to make the big bucks. They're not the first to do it and they won't be the last. I still like U2, but the early albums leading up to War have alot more energy than everything after that. Just seems to me that, after 1983, they mellowed out their sound to appeal to a larger audiance.
the brothers rocking!

I't's so weird that the greatest band on earth played in a little town. I live near Hattem in a village called Wezep about 6 Kilometers ahead.

A great song but Ii's Edge's guitar that's the stand out feature on this - absolutely fantastic guitar solo. Nobody else sounds like that.

Markotraco...Adam's a better player now than he was in the early eighties. I think Pop is his best album.
