  • why womens were so beautiful in that era

    iam jealous grandpa!!

  • The Charm of sensitive music ! rest in peace Sinatra <3

  • When he had lost his voice, his recording contracts, and was flat broke, she picked him up, paid all his bills, and used her Studio Influence to get him that role in "From Here to Eternity", which got his Career going again. He divorced his wife (they were both Catholic, btw) and left his kids (Nancy and Frank Jr.) to marry Ava, got her pregnant, then started beating her (wife beating)... whereupon she went to Mexico and got an Instant Mexican Divorce AND an Abortion (she hated Frank!!).

  • sadly he destroyed Ava in the end... :-(

  • maravilloso!

  • HOW FITTING TO DO A TRIBUTE TO AVA GARDNER WITH A SONG BY ONE OF HER HUSBANDS :-)

  • In the end of the video, I don't think the person in the picture is Ava Gardner. hehehe

  • No Silicon, No Botox!!! NATURE!

  • i think of you too.........

  • LOVE the music & the people.

  • She was much too beautiful for Sinatra. Sorry.

  • @LorentzElena32 That's not the most important thing...

  • LOVE

  • what a beautiful woman was Ava Gardner and she had also a beautiful name.

  • όταν ακόμα υπήρχε ρομαντισμός... σήμερα δυστυχώς καταφέραμε και τον εξαφανίσαμε...

  • reminder of how wonderful it is to love and be loved pilartis

  • Csoda.

  • michael buble brings us the normality that we are about to lose every day, so judging him is unfair, rude, stupid

  • oh Wow! Ava was so bewitchingly beautiful, no wondered

    Frank was heartbroken...

    Love his singing :)

  • This song makes tears fall from my eyes. And I'm a 16 year old boy.

  • @nevermind89pwnz this ain't meant for u

  • i love you frank so much god bress you..

  • francesco sinatra ti amo <3

  • Una bellisima mujer y una bellisima voz<.

  • bluekarma you are so right

  • @nevermind89pwnz You could be the most disrespectful insignificant little shit that ever was... mind boggling.

  • Sinatra; goes without saying - the greatest of all time.

I'm no-prude, but it's amazing how a sensual woman - Ava Gardner in this vid - can look utterly mesmerising without getting her clothes-off. What is wrong with the 'artistes' today? I'll tell you; they're devoid of ingenuity - no-class, none whatsoever.

  • @K3KCT I don't think "class" is still in the English dictionary anymore. Except for the school kind, of course

  • @MihaiViteazul100 But that's slowly weathering away with each passing decade as well.

  • Beautful, Rip Frank

  • @nevermind89pwnz troll harder

  • 14 people who wouldn't know real music even if it sat on their face.

  • @nevermind89pwnz Zao mi je sto postoje trolovi i u Srbiji....strasno!

    btw......great song!

  • merveilleux

  • His voice never grows old.

  • 14 people with no taste or class, thumbs up if you agree!

  • Nice

  • When America was great. :( So sad I couldn't be a part of this whats my generation got...nothin but greedy bastards hating our own country. Sigh at least America will live through the voices of the past.

  • Some things just don't age! they get better with time, just like good vino!!

  • Cant watch this without getting goosebumps <3

  • There is at least one Entertainer Living who sings every song like he's lived every line

and his name is HUNTER HAYES from Jersey. he has an awesome new CD out right now on iTunes .,called " IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE " ,give some of his original songs

a listen, especially , "Spanish love Song " or " Mother and Son " and " Be a Winner "

see him perform on YouTube ,although he's not crooning a lot on the video you'll get the point .

  • I do not often understand FS, but this song, and AG, speak clearly to me.

  • classical babe!

  • Franks Sinatra's signature in his songs was his PHRASING. He enuciated his words and they flowed easy with his ability to cresendo an pianisimo with ease. He was the King, but also his crew was rough also. Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. could roon their asses off and don't forget Bing Crosby. His White Xmas is a classic.

  • @coporal4 I agree.Im no singer, but you are so right. Its his phrasing, "Impossible" to follow his timing exactly!

    thank you,

    Respectfully,

  • im about to fix my music exam (its about chicago jazz) and i just dont knw which song to show

    heeelppp!!!

  • You could tell he had it all for Ava Gardner.

  • A Very Beautiful Couple! Too bad it didn't work between them

  • superb

  • superb

  • He had some of the most beautiful, and most famous women of his, or anytime.!

But he could never fully get this "great beauty" out of his mind!

She was his "Kryptonite" so to speak!

  • The men and women in the 1930's-1950's knew how to dress. Things started getting really trashy close to the end of the 1960's and the 1970's was an all out BOMB. Check out Jimmy Cagney, Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, Robert Mitchum, Marilynn Monroe, Ava Gardner, Bette Davis, Carol Lombard and all the others. Even our parents dressed. Not this wear your pants below your ass and girls going to school in pajamas and sandals looking like street walkers and their hygiene level has decreased to

  • @coporal4 Yes.I agree.they use to have an expression.Dressing to the Nines. This era was all class.I here Sinatra and watch Bogey.Man ,now that is pure magic.

  • If there is a Heaven he must be there with her and she with him......

  • R.I.P

  • Awwww, back when Hollywood was glamorous; not trashy and immoral as it is now.

  • 14 fan di bieber hanno detto che non gli piace....

  • ava gardner was so hot now iknow why frank fell for her but he was maried with kids and left nancy for ava he was a great singer an icon but not in the dept of family life rest in peace frank and ava

  • Ava Gardner era STUPENDA

  • Happy Birthday Ava Gardner!!!

  • Nite..Mr.

  • The words and picture at 2:33 killed me.

  • @rrroach21 Absolutely the quintessence of Hollywood glamour. Both of them. Too bad they were so screwed up.

  • Just a breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL woman! Frank Sinatra lost a treasure and spent the rest of his life regretting his inability to recapture their love. Thank you for the wonderful video--and the time you expended putting this together for us!

  • i was born in the 80's, this is how a woman is suppose to be built.

  • Love love love Sinatra...and Ava Gardner was so beautiful, no wonder Sinatra fell in love with her. That relationship really done a number on him, it taught him how to sing a torch song for sure.

  • sintra we share the same birthday, cheers to you!

  • Its easy to see why she was the love of his life. She loved him and he adored her.

but Fame got in their way. ty for sharing this

  • I have to thank you for this beautiful video....it is great, great great.

  • I'm throwing a party for my ex wife's mother tomarrow. She's turning 95! Born same day, same year as frank sinatra

  • ♫ HAPPY BIRTHDAY FRANK! ♫

    12th Dec 2010

I share the same taste as you for dark horses! ♡

    ☆ SilkyWilly ☆

  • Thanks Lee.... a great tune... very, very emotional!!

  • Ava was a hottie!

  • PERHAPS A BETTER VIDEO WOULD HAVE BEEN IVE GOT YOU UNDER MY SKIN. THIS IS THE ONE WOMAN HE LOST A PIECE OF HIS HEART TO AND NEVER WAS QUITE THE SAME AGAIN.

  • We all have our 1 True Love, and she was Frank's!!!Whether they are with us or not, we all have 1 love who takes a piece of our heart.

  • beautiful ....

  • nice

  • This is One Class Act, When Men were Men and Women were Women

  • Ava Gardner a classic beauty along with Cyd Charisse, Rita Hayward, Ingrid Bergman and so many others in time past.

  • 0:46 is a really unflattering picture, she looks kind of manly in it.

  • she was the love of his life ............

  • Wow, that woman is gorgeous! <3 I must go research her!

Thank you for this lovely slide show <3

  • @KiraTea93 OMG! Ava Gardner was devastatingly beautiful. Frank was heart broken over her. Some say he never got over her.

  • the man. the myth. the legend ....

  • If you don't believe in God yet, please, please take a good look at Ava! That'll settle the question.

  • For my tastes, she was one of the hottest women to ever set foot on this little blue and green globe of ours. What a couple we would have made. It would have been legendary. Oh well, maybe in another life if the Fates are kind.

  • Franks voice was as genuine as they get. He sang as though he lived every song he sang. Singers of today like Michael Buble have pretty voices but they lack the genuineness you hear in a voice like Sinatras. Honestly, of all the singers who have been on American Idol, do you remember any of them in a memorable sense? I don't. The lush sound of Nelson Riddles arrangements enveloped Franks voice and he moved in and out of the lyric with such fluidity and ease it is truly startling.

  • @bluekarma

defo true! thanks for phrasing the words! Frank Sinatra's just one of a kind

  • @bluekarma All true except the arranger is not Nelson Riddle but Gordon Jenkins who did some of Frank's best ballads.

  • @filmmekker yea, but Riddle did some of franks arrangements..maybe not this one in particular but a lot of others during the Capitol and Reprise early years.

  • @bluekarma I know. Riddle did some of Frank's best recordings.

  • @bluekarma I agree, Buble just goes through the motions of singing the song but he doesn't "live" the song.

Great singers become a part of the song and their presentation comes across as genuine.

  • @bluekarma thats cuz frank was what i call, for lack of a better term, a "past master". their degree of artisianship is beyond the point of being a master to the effect that they can control your feelings and emotions through their medium. for ex. irrespective of whether or not he was glum that day, and you were glum that day, he could still make you experience happiness or whatever he wanted, by his craft. its a very advanced form of communication. regardless the craft, past masters are rare.

  • @paragshah2112 Perfectly said my friend

  • @bluekarma yea Buble is a good singer, but "good" is the word. Nothing more.

  • @bluekarma God I couldn't have said it better myself!!

  • @bluekarma You are so right. Harry Connick, Jr. is the ONLY "new" voice that comes close. Harry is a true genius who began his own orchestra at a very early age. Mel Torme, Tony Bennet, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, these were giants and Frank was the acknowledged King, even by Bing himself!

  • @bluekarma Soo beautifully said. So rare nowadays, the blending of sound, the arrangements and talent. Fluidity & ease & genuineness...like he felt every feeling he sang. "So Rare"

  • @bluekarma If Frankie sang in American Idol, they would have said "Oh, take care of your pitch!"

  • @bluekarma Did you really just put Frank Sinatra with Michael Buble in one and the same sentence?

  • @TheAfob yea, sorry but it wasn't to praise Buble but to say nice voice kid, but you ain't seen nothing yet!

  • adore his voice...genuine...

  • ligne des espaces > freres, soeurs, , relations

    ligne du temps

y (parents, successifs, ..) brouiller les pensables !

  • Who cares about the conflict, the women, the men.

How bout we all just listen to Frankie, live and let live.

  • does anybody here the theme and harmony from rachmaninoff 3. concerto ? c c c

  • I Weep

  • Timeless

  • @stieoz Timeless? Sinatra had impeccable timing. And ask those FCKRS at the musician's union what time it is They'd punch your time-clock out.

  • @raydog699 By timeless I mean the timeless beauty of this music. look up "timeless" in the dictionary and maybe then you'll understand that my comment was far from an insult.

  • Timeless

  • Timeless

  • AVA GARDNER WAS FRANKS TRUE LOVE!!!!! AND SHE FUCKED AROUND ON HIM ALL THE TIME !!!! SHE BROKE HIS HEART AND HE DIVORCED HER!!!!!!!

  • what an absolutely beautiful, natural, non-augmented woman. they really used to be born this way. and what a beautiful song of dedication!

  • omg she is gorgeous

  • Isn't that Rachmaninov's piano Concerto #2?

  • Lovely song.

  • Es verdad lo que oi un día. "Sinatra cada día canta mejor". Escucho mucha mucha música. Siempre, siempre, siempre vuelvo a Sinatra............y canta mejor.

    Unico e irrepetible.

  • @11432n la cita original es de una radio uruguaya que empieza todos los días con Amaneciendo con Gardel y dice : cada día canta mejor(Gardel).

    Pero Gardel y Sinatra ,bue!!!

  • @silrosm OH, HERE WE GO with the "secret" language. WE ALL GET IT. YOU'RE HISPANIC. AND YOU SPEAK SPANISH. WOW. WHAT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT. You've been here all this time and still don't get that NO ONE CARES that you speak spanish, IT'S RUDE to insist on doing this in mixed company. This is america. We all CHOSE NOT TO MOVE TO MEXICO ON PURPOSE. Unsophisticated, provincial, BACKWARD people. Give it a rest, already. Your country sucks. BROADEN YOUR HORIZONS A BIT, or, I dunno go home.

  • @maryspinker

way to go!!!! I am half Spanish, as in SPAIN~ and you know what Mary, I speak ENGLISH here in America.SO, thank you Mary for your response to Silrosm...And if I can expand on your comment, I really dislike how Mexicans have butchered the Spanish language....It is likened to American Slang, or British Cockney and calling it English... Mexican's speak Mexican... the Mexican dialect is no way near the beauty and romanticism of pure, and traditional Spanish language.~~BIG HUGS 4 MARY~

  • @dslcification WHAT DO YOU MEAN ABOUT THEW LANGUAGE I SPEAK ???

    I'M NOT HALF NOTHING !!!

WHEN I NEED I SPEAK ENGLISH , FRENCH , GERMAN , ITALIAN , PORTUGUESE OR SPANISH THE RIGHT LANGUAGE WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE !!!

AND I FINISH THIS IS AN INTERMINABLE DISCUSSION !!!

    CHAU!!!

  • @maryspinker I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT A " SECRET LANGUAGE"!!! I ONLY EXPLAINED THAT , THAT WAS A SPEECH ABOUT GARDEL IN AN URUGUAYAN RADIO SAYING : EVERY DAY SINGS BETTER!!!(GARDEL) AND I'M A SINATRA FAN EVEN!!! WHEN I WAS A LITTLE GIRL , MY MAMA WOKE UP ME EVERY DAY WITH GARDEL AT 6 O'CLOCK AND EVERY AFTERNOON I SLEPT WITH SINATRA.

I MUST TELL YOU TOO , I SPEAK AND WRITE CORRECTLY GERMAN , FRENCH , ITALIAN , PORTUGUESE AND AS YOU SEE ENGLISH ; NOT ONLY SPANISH !!!

    CHAU!!!

  • @maryspinker AND I'M NOT MEXICAN !!! WHAT DO YOU HAVE ABOUT LATIN PEOPLE ??? AMERICA IS SOUTH AND MIDDLE TOO !!!

"SOUTH EVEN EXISTS " SAID MARIO BENEDETTI !!!

AND WE HAVE MORE EDUCATION THAN YOU HAVE !!!

  • @maryspinker And what is the problem with speaking spanish in the USA? It's a "free country" as you yankees say, that land of opportunities! Then WHY be such a filthy, anti american citizen? And for your information, America is a CONTINENT, not a country.

  • @DarkShark190 If they live here they need to speak English.

  • @UndercoverCracker They don't live in the USA, and of course I agree if they live there they should speak English.

  • @maryspinker Mary, may I add, I fluently speak German, Spanish, Portuguese and English and I see you're just demonstrating chauvinism there. He was speaking about an URUGUAYAN radio show. THAT IS URUGUAY. Can you locate it on the map? Highly doubt it. Uruguay is thousand of miles away from the USA. And by the way, what's wrong about speaking spanish you dirty yankee? The world ain't american. Go home, read books.

  • @maryspinker Dear Mary, silrosm is not Mexican and he is responding to someone who also wrote in Spanish, evidently the message was not meant for you. Not everything south of your border is Mexico, there is a whole world out there and we all have internet; we are writing from abroad in German, Italian, French, Portuguese and Spanish, as I have seen the comments. So, please, let us be.

  • From the Era of elegance and perfection. Ava and song.

  • How elegant! I wish I was half as elegant as she was.

  • 2:26...Va Va Va Voom!!........What a dame!

  • @Dealit707 Took the words right out of my mouth, they don't make them like that anymore.

  • ahhh, I love this song, loved a gal from St.John's NFLD,have never got over her, this is my song to her!

  • @4aceshigh1957 I love a guy from NFLD too & never got over him either..not you lol

  • rachmaninov's piano concerto combined with frank sinatra - what a genius, beautiful idea.

  • the days are gone when stars acted like stars and ladies dressed like a lady should.

  • Maria FeliX the most beautiful woman in the world

  • I'll take Jean Arthur, Barbara Stanwyck or Lauren Bacall over Ava Gardner any day of the week.

  • @someonespadre All "husky" women eh? whatever floats your boat :)

  • "Hurricane Ava" proved to be FS's muse. Without the gut-churning angst that she produced in his romantic psyche, none of those Capital records sides would have been possible.

  • That so, so true polkakonigin! Every time has its own remarkable and gorgeous individuals! But, I'm not sure that every time has its own eye to notice the individual... Why do we think that the past is better and more human than our own time?

  • oh yeah she was so hot frank did not deserve her she was too good for him but thats the the way it goes

  • i miss the delicate composition of that music. nowadays a song can be soft then scare you with a heavy metal drum roll or something

  • She's beautiful

  • Sinatra = Simply the Best

  • When one listens to this, it can only be one person singing, Frank. Simply the best.

  • i just sit here and drift off into a world where only REAL MUSIC, sang by people with REAL TALENT can take me.. down with audio tune give me some lounge music!

  • Men don't open doors for girls because of the feminist movement that poisoned tradition and reason.!! look where women are now today.

  • @jorgeoscar1000 Yeah, with financial independence and the right to vote and god forbid, even the option to get a divorce if the guy is an asshole. Where has this world gone?!

  • @ohcmeon

Well I guess if a woman gets a divorce it must be because the guy is an 'asshole' or has cheated but if a guy wants a divorce for the same reasons- ie if a woman cheats... well he must have deserved it. I don't see feminists (who claim to believe in equality) standing up for fathers discriminated against in child custody. But what would I know. Im a male pig.

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 That's the best you can do? If you read the comments on some entertainment articles, you'd know that people let men get away with cheating much easier. They blame the woman for not being pretty enough, or only being with him for money, or say the man is so handsome it is natural to cheat, or that it's in men's "nature" to f**k around. While a cheating woman is quickly judged to be a slut. Personally I think any cheater is scum, regardless of gender.

  • so dreamy

  • The 1940s Frank Sinatra singing a romantic song based off of a concerto by Rachmaninoff??????? I think I just died and went to heaven..... NOTHING gets better than this, NOTHING!

  • i think i was born 2 generations too late..i look for refined woman like back in the day..

  • TOGETHER AT LAST !!!!

  • nobody beats ol blue eyes.

  • All these comments about not finding any people with true class/gentlemen/ladies are just plain untrue. If every single one of your acquaintances are really that unremarkable, then you aren't surrounding yourself with the right kind of people. There are absolutely gorgeous human beings everywhere, not just "50" years ago.

  • @polkakonigin I agree completly, I don't want to toot my own horn, but I consider my self a lady. I'm always polite, even when I'm insulting someone.

  • @polkakonigin I wish it weren't true but I couldn't agree less.

  • @polkakonigin

    Well said

  • @polkakonigin agreed. infact, most of these so called 'real' women they're talking about led incredibly unrealistic lives for their time. most women in the 40's weren't allowed to voice much of an opinion and still had to fill very strict gender and societal roles. how this makes them more 'real' I've yet to discover.

  • @polkakonigin True. But a lot less of them per capita today.

  • @polkakonigin

It's funny because people back then were more racist, homophobic, and sexist.

Ava Gardner seemed like she was funny, charming, and witty. She seemed to be much more than an object in a pretty dress, although looking at the comments here about "ladies" and "gentlemen," you'd think the only thing that matters was how well a man or a woman conformed to their gender norms. Not so much.

  • @polkakonigin I guess most people don't want to be alone and to surround themselves with whomever is at hand is just a defense mechanism to deal with be lonely. When you listen to music like this it makes a sencere levelheaded person stop and think; life is sweet and oh so short! There are wonderful people around today but they're like a diamond in the rough. We don't trust as freely as in the past and the so-called music of today doesn't make this any easier, right?

  • @polkakonigin I'm sorry but the "geniuses" who have the vocab of a 2 year old & jeans around their knees just aren't that convincing.

  • @polkakonigin too true

  • @polkakonigin no, you are wrong. People back then had more morals and respect for each other back then You have to look real hard to see those qualities today. Part of it is the decline in values and morality, and part of it is the microscope celebs live under. I'd rather look back than look around and see the perversions of today.
