I saw this movie in 1968 (I was 16 years old) and was so impressed. I had a crush on the character Nova. I thought that she was the most beautiful women I've ever seen. The music blew me away and this is where I was introduced to the great Jerry Goldsmith's music. An all orchestral score written in the serial, 120 tone technique style. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!!!
I saw these films when I was about 9-10 years old. (Thanks to my dad who saw them when he was in his youth and middle years.) Read the Boulle novel in college and during my time in the Navy. One thing that got me, weather apes or humans, the lust for power over all others (like or not) is endemic. Ape or Human, there will always be those who assert to know better than you. Tyranny knows no bounds...
This really brings back memories. I first saw this movie when I was about ten years old, and I've loved it ever since. Thanks for uploading, Lordhelmchen76.
I just love this motion picture soundtrack. The movie would not of have the same impact without it. Very ahead of it's time for the day ,and it just suits this sci-fi perfectly. I never noticed the ape sounds in the back ground before now. Jerry Goldsmith was truely a master of providing the right sound effects in the music for the visons on the screen. He has done some of the best soundtracks ever for our cinematic pleasures. Thankyou for posting this.
They came : Stravinsky, Stockhausen...and years later , this beautiful theme for Planet of the Apes , then soon we found John Mclaughlin , with some undoubtful similarities -in his Mahavishnu "Sightseeings"... . Well ,it must be the 20th century Zeitgeist. ( Which unhappily , is gone ).

Does anyone know if there is a video of Jerry Goldsmith performing this soundtrack live?

Que gran acompañamiento musical para una excelsa pelicula, lo maximo, y ni q decir de las tremendas actuaciones de Charlton Heston y Roddy MacDowall.
