@ liketosurf? stick to surfing, underwater ideally! mattie burke corrected you. the high kings ha ha piss poor version of their fathers song. and shaun davey for fucks sake! listen to britney you will like her type of shite!
like to surf? i think you should stick to surfing! underwater ideally. this song is a parting statement. stating best wishes and asking for forgiveness for ones own transgressions. when you leave someones house in ireland and asked do you want another drink, you would say "ok, just the parting glass.
For the record, this is being sung by the late great Liam Clancy. You probably would never have heard of this song were it not for him, his 2 brothers & Tommy Makem. Liam's son is in the High King's. So ya wouldn't have heard of them either!
Liam Clancy's version is also good, and you can find it in the related videos sidebar, you're probably not Irish, if you were you'd be able to tell the differance between Scottish and Irish music.
@like2surf are you fuckin serious you tool..!!??? I'm more fuckin irish than you no doubt...that in love with my own counrty im going to study Heritage next year in galway...I can appreciate the best balladeer ireland ever had unlike you fuckface...you dim bastard and i living here in offaly...go away you waste of sperm like im embarrassed for you............
@spankman19 could this have been from the singing of a Very young Bobby Clancy. just a thought, as a much older Bobby is up there singing same with Robbie O,OConnell
I haven't been so deeply moved by a fanvid in ages. That song has a special place in my heart and Aragorn is awesome and same with Arowen. Makes me want to get home to my girlfriend as soon as possible.
That's a big WOW! The song is wonderful and it is bittersweet in a way as it represented the trails he faced and the grief they caused at points ....wonderful job as always girl!

Terrible Version of a good song. Check out Shaun Davey's or the High Kings Versions. This is a truly terrible version.

This is a neck verse. Something that someone would write the night before they were to be hanged. See "The Jail of Clon Maela."

there is none. maybe it reminds him of an old minstrel song of the ancient times that a traveling bard might sing...
