We don't know if these dogs were matted and had to be shaved.. Could be some back story. Also, they don't look very sad to me and if they were, it's probably because of how you're talking around them because of being upset with the haircut. Dogs watch people and how they act, move, talk around them carefully and react to the owner, not a haircut.
@MorbidMistake exactly, i had to do the same with my lhasa apso. when we went to go pick him up, his long hair was covering all of his matts on his legs and front chest. when we got home and gave him a bath we were shocked so we had ot bring him to the groomers to get him this short. we grew it out a bit but keep in generally short now
your dogs look hideous with this haircut. the one with the bow looks like she has huge ears because of the hair. and they also have very bad tear staining.
Good thing dogs don't care about hair cuts, except if they hurt or take too long, or are scarey. Dogs are not about the visual... otherwise the ugly breeds would be picked on.
at least yours came out even, i had mine taken to this lady and she couldn't get the clipper close to him so she used scissors..wtf....and his fur wasn't even even. had patches of very short fur in random places! my sad puppy looked like he was a stray from Annie.
Did your brother ask for a puppy cut? Was he specific in exactly what he wanted? They both were obviously given puppy cuts. They dont look bad to me and I groom this breed all the time. It all depends on the actual condition of the coat when they were brought in and how they behaved while grooming. The girl's face could have been trimmed a bit shorter, but I wouldnt grant a refund and another free groom in the future over this.
Their hair grows back pretty fast but petco and petsmart are not the kinds of places you take a maltese to. My maltese just got a short haircut like them but thats because he had surgery and they had to shave a large portion of his body...Im not to thrilled about his haircut right now but in two months it will be just fine
@fairuza665 As a groomer.. those dogs look like crap. As for dogs not caring.. well they dont.. but owners pay good money to get a EVEN cut.. the style is normal.. the rest is just awful. Id be pissed too for paying for crap.

Also, sometimes there's miscommunication, you tell the groomer to cut of an inch, and they do, but it ends up you only wanted like 1/2 an inch cut off... cuz the inch ends up being almost all their hair. the head/face does look messy though.
Maybe they were matted. You can't blame the groomer if they were matted. However, if they weren't, then they had no business cutting their hair so short. BUT, sometimes customers don't think their dogs are badly matted when they really are.
I tell mine exactly how many inches I want the coat to be. and I stay their thru the whole process and make sure of what goes on with my fur-kid same as I would a skin kid.
Well, if i came out of the barbers looking like that i'd be pissed!!

I've seen worse.. like when owners decide to shave their maltese hair! OMG maltese + shaved = Much much worse than what these 2 dogs look like
