remember, this was not a saturday morning cartoon when it started. It was on prime time and had an adult audience. Much like the Simpsons and Family Guy are today. Winston advertised on most every prime time show back then, however I don't think they ever advertised on Saturday morning kid shows.

haha, even the Nazis before WW2 knew smoking was bad, they were the first to try to ban it and did research on it to prove it was harmful. One of the few things they actually got right.

I thought it was a clever ad. you have to put yourself in the time period, where the long term effects COULDN'T be determined, because the technology to discover it wasn't nearly as old as the people would ahve to be to die from it. I smoke, but its because i enjoy it most of the time and became addicted in the process, not because of any propaganda in television or movies.

this was aired in the 1940's this has nothing to do with the smoking in modern times. in the 40's and 50's smoking was very popular it was a fashion. now its a curse and this is because we are now aware of the dangers of smoking and in those days we weren't.

Television wasn't really "commercial" until the mid 50's. The first airing of the Flintstones was Sept 30, 1960. Many sets were black and white and recordings could easily be B&W even today. Most shows were not broadcast in color until 1967, and still most homes had not bought a color set.
