incredible, the main high voltage lines seem to MELT before the arc emerges out of the melted connection.. such an amazing thing.. so deadly if you get anywhere close, it could arc straight through the body into the ground.. What's the story behind this arc? Do you know? thanks a lot for posting it.. where did the video come from... thanks
the air breaks are being opened under shunt reactor load,about 100 amps,and the gas interrupter fails to extinguish the 500,000 volt arc,eventually the downstream circuit breakers are thrown and the arc is extinguished. if this occurred while the switch was under full load ~2000 amps,the equipment would have been seriously damaged.
