The Irish are nice people and they have a wonderful culture. They deserve better than this. But to receive a better deal next time, they'll need a reality check first. They need to acknowledge how complicit the entire population has been in this delusion and now meltdown. And they need to work, hard.

the irish middle class voted for its own self interest !... Now what borders we have will be taken away, then Turkey will join the EU, & even North African countries in time, The irish as a Race & a country will be extinct in a few years, just a region of Europa with Tony Blair as its president !!
lol vote no or foreigners! The irish have emigrated to far parts of the world for a long time. A few foreigners coming to ireland will do no damage to the gene pool.
ile die irish before ile die a european suck hole ,fuck the irish government lining there own pockets, and they screw us ordinary workers.i dont advicate violence but sometimes enough is just enough.
ime so sad today that the irish people would sell their souls for money,we spent so long to free ourselfs from oppression, and now we give our right to vote away, how stupid are the irish people, jesus my past relatives would turn in there graves,it took us so long to get our constitutional right into place.what is wrong with my brothers and sisters ,we are moving into a capalist sociatey.
LOL. Your obviously a very young or retarded american. Ill give you a bit of advice, watch your fucking mouth when grown ups are talking. On the internet you never know who your talking to.
do you get to vote no for the third time? guess what ireland there wont be a third time, after defeating the biggest empire in history youve decided to turn all your powers and laws over to brussels! as a scotsman its not any of my buisness but at least you were given the right to vote, twice!
We have in Ireland scared people who will always go for what a corrupt government says is right. I promise as we do in the north with fighting the brits we now will gladly take on europe for indepentence if needed so.
dont hold it against everirsh person..i voted no and so did just about everyone i know..infact is till havent met anyone who said they voted yes so im confused as to how it passed, but our goverment told ghost stories about how we'd all die and even somthing about worldwar 3 toscare people into voting yes....just goes to show, they dont want our opinions,if we decide somthing they dont like, they'll just make us vote again..
The No side consisted of left wing dreamers ( Joe Higgins, Socialist Party, Sinn Fein ) who were mislead by right wing fascist schemers ( Ganly, Coir, UKIP.) The benefits of free education in Ireland have kicked in however and two thirds of the people are now capable of voting in their own best interests.
I believe in a small Europe made of the true European countries. The vast majority of new comers are only interested in the money EU will give them (Poland, Czech rep, etc...). UK joined only to have the possibility to destroy EU from inside. I say no to this large Europe which is a joke. I say yes to a smaller Europe made of 6 to 10 countries. This Europe can move forward.
I voted yes for the first vote. But for the second vote i voted No. If we voted yes the first time around would we have had a second vote??
We are in the deepest recession of any counttry in europe. At the moment, If our head of government said black was white the leading opposition party would disagree. But for some reason on the treaty of Lisbon. Our 3 biggest parties, all in oppostion on every other issue are all saying to vote yes. What is going on? I swear on my life someting is going on
Both sides have legitimate arguments in their favour. Though I'm voting 'yes', I respect the fact that most of 'No' voters have legitimate concerns about further changes in the EU decision-making process.
*YES SIDE: all international chambers of commerce, most independent economists, 3 main political parties, IFA, IBEC, IDA, ISME, SIPTU, ICTU, most major trade unions, Small Firms Association, Pfizer, Ryanair, Intel, Microsoft.
6 try to make one single point based in the realm of fact and people might just stop laughing at you for a second 7 when you reply with your predicticable diatribe(look it up) you will have confirmed everything for me.
1/ you can barely spell. 2/ you feel the need to use swear words and put downs constantly due to a lack of vocabulary. 3/120 is not a very high of i.q lol.4 if you want to discuss something you clearly dont have a notion about go on to bebo with all the other children.5 i have a masters in history and psyhcology. so i am not that dumb.
Be sure you speak not only for Ireland but for the majority of the population of the European Union, who have been denied a vote by the so called "Elite".
No to Lisbon means yes to Europe and to Democracy.
If the treaty will be accepted, only a revolution can restore Democracy...
NO vote = we are still in the EU, like we are now, and the EU must be more accountable to the people of Europe. It stops the runaway power of the EU parliament and its gravy train expenses.
YES vote = no way back, we can't undo mistakes made in the treaty or the EU, our say in EU is halved. Some countries say is doubled.
The mature thing is to stand up and tell EU to correct the problems, not to give in to the accusing tut-tutting of EU politicians trying to tell us we should be embarrassed.
VOTE NO. if there was a war in europe(or sumtin like that) every country in the lisbon treaty would have to go to war and ireland would sit back and relax.VOTE NO
YES vote = no way back, we can't undo mistakes made in the treaty or the EU, our say in EU is halved. Some countries say is doubled.

Voted No before and was ignored by the undemocratic elite of Europe. I will vote no again and again if necessary. We don't want a fascist Europe, this Lisbon Empire. We want a free and democratic Europe and that is not on offer in this treaty.
It's great to see so many tell us to vote no but where where you? Why have ye not come over & supported the "No" campain? Barely any of those good people came over to support it. We've been let down. The "Yes" campaign has been fantastic. Huge businesses, unions, big political parties, famous sport personalities, the pope, mainstream media etc. We had nothing. The campaign for no was very poor. Yes is going to prevail. But even though I feel defeated, I'm still going out on Friday & voting no.
Unfortunately I have a family to run and support - and so I am sorry for not lending a hand in person. It was always going to be a 'David vs Goliath situation anyway. The EU are pulling massive funding into the 'yes' campaign. The media refuses to give our 'no' campaign equal coverage.
I still have faith - I still believe the Irish will tell the EU where to shove it.
If bookmakers are anything to go by, the referendum result is a foregone conclusion.
Boylesports said it had already paid customers who bet on a Yes result, parting with a five-figure sum. Odds at PAddy Power for a majority Yes vote were 1/25, with the odds for a 'No' vote weakening out to 8/1.
I know, I'm in the same boat as you. But it is looking really glum at the moment. The horrible thing is that I know people who have tossed their voting card in the fire as a way of retaliation...but that's not going to do us any justice. We all have a voice. I've seen the footage on RTE news, the propaganda from the Irish (ha!) Mirror is horrific etc etc. Tomorrow is judgement day. All I can do is contribute to what I believe in...and that's to say no to the treaty.
vinvincible8 (1I have an IQ of 120 and postgraduate qualifications you are a pygmy pea brained moron who does not understand geopolitical issues. Moron.
Urfadder is an arsehole who keeps posting the same text all over the place... probably a FF member or supporter who thinks he is doing so good for the yes side all he or she are doing is pissing me and probably a lot of others off by not engaging in debate anyway the YES list that Urfadder compiled gives me the creeps and is pushing me towards the NO camp anyway, the main political parties have lost the trust of the people,IBEC and the IFA are more greedy bastards along with the CIF and the banks
There are no Eglish parties involed in this debate. If you are talking about Nigel Farage then you should no that he represents EFD (Europe of Freedom and Democracy) a group which contains many nationalities.
This is the new IDG (Independance and Democracy Group) that you see the first speaker (Danis MEP Jens-Petter Bonde) was the Chairman of.
So you see, it has NOTHING to do with English parties trying to hurt Ireland...
"In the guise of reform, this treaty will give significant new powers to the EU over almost all aspects of our lives, with a concomitant reduction in Ireland's voting strength and sovereign power .Most frightening of all however is the obscene militarisation of the EU" (Catheline Connolly).
" The Lisbon treaty will lead to a burocratic dictatorship" (Prof.Schachtschneider, Nurenberg University).
WAKE UP BRAVE IRISH !
YES to a democratic Europe,NO to the Lisbon treaty and "president" Blair !
*YES SIDE: all international chambers of commerce, most independent economists, 3 main political parties, IFA, IBEC, SIPTU, ICTU, most major trade unions, Small Firms Association, Pfizer, Ryanair, Intel, Microsoft.
i will never vote in my country again if its a YES victory... democracy will be gone.. OUR NO VOTE was burned by the NAZI LIKE E.U. Vote no for the sake of your children and your Country.. lets get our corrupt government out.. Save the poor the underprivileged the working class and middle class from the Evils of the E.U. and our Government... your homes, your income will evaporate more and more..
Imitating the United States? HAHAHAHAH! You won't even be able to elect your own "President" under Lisbon. Imitating the USSR is much more accurate. Your new ballots will be decided for you.
ganley, an irish american with deep links to the USA military suddenly returns to Ireland to out spend the major political parties in his support for a no vote. open your eyes, he is being funded by the US government to keep europe weak and divided
NO SIDE: Shinners, Ganley, McKenna, Socialists, Coir, Eirigi, UKIP, Le Pen, BNP.
YES SIDE: all international chambers of commerce, most independent economists, 3 main political parties, IFA, IBEC, SIPTU, ICTU, most major trade unions, Pfizer, Ryanair, Intel, Microsoft.
NO SIDE: Shinners, Ganley, Socialists, Coir, Eirigi, UKIP, Le Pen, BNP.
YES SIDE: all international chambers of commerce, most independent economists, 3 main political parties, IFA, IBEC, SIPTU, ICTU, most major trade unions, Pfizer, Ryanair, Intel, Microsoft.
The Irish government and the EU are so disrespectful towards the Irish people. Why couldn't they respect the 'NO' decision in the 1st Lisbon referendum? They have made no changes to the treaty ,like the issue of neutrality, and are throwing it back in our faces. What a waste of tax payers money. That money could go to our already, poor quality health system.
Ireland Is europe we have been opressed by the UK and the roman catholic relegion long enough the votes have been dictated in ireland using roman catholic and UK child abusers
Republican partys knew that the education system was abusing children into voting republican had proof and neglected received votes and now expect us to vote no with the UK
Cop on use your memory pick Europe over roman catholic & and UK child abuse progressive yes
NO SIDE: Shinners, Ganley, Socialists, Coir, Eirigi, UKIP, Le Pen, BNP.
YES SIDE: all international chambers of commerce, most independent economists, 3 main political parties, IFA, IBEC, SIPTU, ICTU, most major trade unions, Pfizer, Ryanair, Intel, Microsoft.
Pfizer, Ryanair, Intel AND Microsoft!?!? Well that's changed my vote for certain, what those lads have done for me has been nothing short of a miracle!
basically without europe ireland would be like moldova or albania and thats no fucking lie.Believe what you want but we all no that thats true and thats why you should vote yes
the question is not if ireland will stay in the eu or not. the question is if they want a new constitution which is above theirs...
therefor your argumentation makes no sense... (well it does make sense if you think that ireland will be kicked out if they vote no - but that's just speculation)
The reality is Ireland is a small country with a big country mentality which is just stupid . Europe is the best thing that has happened to use in the past 50 years. If the population votes no again it will be a huge embarrassment for our nation and will sully our name in europe. Ireland is being bullied but there is no other sane choice but yes. Nobody wants to see ireland being excluded and treated harshly in the future because of a stupid decision by the public.
Stop for a minute and think of the huge implications of what you are saying. The people cannot make a wrong decision - by definition the people are always right, it is called democracy.
You believe (incorrectly) that Ireland will be excluded and treated harshly in the future if you vote no. What you are effectively saying is "the Irish voice doesn't matter - so we must just be yes men and agree with this treaty even though we don't believe it's for the best for Ireland"
You're great grandparents fought and died for the sovereignty of our little island, vote yes and we will be a relevant to Brussels as Inis Oir is to Dublin. For our independance VOTE NO!!!!
"It's creepy if you think about it, trying to associate 1916 and the war of independence which put an end to years of occupation and oppression by driving out a foreign ruler, with the current situation where free Itrish people will go to a polling station to cast their democratic vote on the future of Ireland and Europe, an alliance which has benefitted us for decades.
if we vote yes, anyone who does not own a house will have there homes takin from them, anyone suffering from depression alcoholism drug addication etc etc will be takin from there familys and put in instatutions across europe and peoples hard earnd sayings will be takin from them also this was found in a report that them EU nackers never mentioned. it was on the news,
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
People need to know the main advocate of no in ireland Declan Ganley is chairman of Rivada networks which has huge investments from the US military.Ganley is completly backed by the us.The united states does not want another superpower to contend with , dont listen to these puppets of texan oil barons and corrupt senators PLEASE VOTE YES , ALONE WE ARE WEAK TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG.
"Together" with who? As a free country you can form alliances with anyone you want to. (Everyone envies your influence with America.) But as a slave state, you get told who you're with, and the only people who are strong are your unelected rulers.
The only reason Ireland even gets a vote is because of the Irish constitution which demands that Irish people get a vote and the politicians can't find a way around it. They're asking for riots
NO SIDE: Shinners, Ganley, Socialists, Coir, Eirigi, UKIP, Le Pen, BNP.
YES SIDE: all international chambers of commerce, 3 main political parties, IFA, IBEC, SIPTU, ICTU, most major trade unions, Ryanair, Intel, Microsoft.
Ireland cannot survive without some decisions from rest of Europe .Our Politicians have screwed us for years with there decisions .Vote Yes, look at the people voting NO .
The votes have been dictated in ireland untill the late 90s the Roman catholic schools, & the irish education system have used violance & lies to dictate Republican votes. even when we got new school projects we were infront of the same abusers neglected by the gaurda & defence forces who went through the same lines of abuse the Republican partys knew they would get votes, & that child abusers sexualy abuse, had proof & Neglected Ireland is opressed DONT VOTE REPUPLICAN !DO VOTE !YES ! F D U K
voting yes means that the president of the european council will be able to negotiate on behalf of the 27 EU countries WHEN AND ONLY WHEN HE/SHE HAS AN AGREED MANDATE FROM EVERY SINGLE EU MEMBER STATE. Surely that's a lot better than little old Ireland negotiating on its own right??
The group who put up the €1.84 posters admitted that they simply took the average minimum wages of the 12 recently-joined countries, conveniently leaving out the track record of wage growth (an average of 2.6% per year over the last ten years across the EU, or the fact that our minimum wage is specifically protected as an area that only our Government can control. Don't believe me? Google it then.
look the roman catholic education system of ireland have been dictating republican votes using child abuse right up until the late 1990s it was republican s who organized the polish then they went to america and war . The irish roman catholic education system molested beat and assaulted and lied to the four year olds telling them that everyone came from adam and eve and so we were all romans and that the roman catholic vote was republican VOTE YES DONT VOTE REPUBLICAN they neglected us
Vote No to incompetent political entity Sinn Fein. Vote No to Declan Ganley and his hidden agenda. Vote no to the BNP Fascists. Vote NO to Coir the extremist catholic lunatic movement. Vote NO to going back to the darkness of old. Vote No to the Nay-sayers that think Europe is a monster that wants to gobble us all up. VOTE YES TO THE LISBON TREATY.
The EU is not Europe. Norway,Switzerland and Luxembourg are ALSO part of Europe,as is Iceland. Iceland is slowly coming out of recession thanks to having devalued its currency and keeping its fishing industry intact !
According to Brussels,Turkey is also part of Europe !
NO !
VOTE NO TO KEEP YOUR OWN CONSTITUTION ;CITIZENSHIP ;OWN LAWS & RIGHTS ;DECENT WAGES ;PUBLIC HEALTH & EDUCATION ;NEUTRALITY etc.
There is a lot of scaremongering by the right on this issue (SF aren't on the right but I don't include them on the left as their agenda is not truly socialist but a kind of quasi-collective nationalism). Misinformation is a potent weapon and is being used to scare otherwise impartial people into voting no. People talk about all the wars and what people fought for. Folks this is it - and it may be the last chance we'll get to achieve it. A no vote is a vote for division and future conflict.
I voted yes first time but with alot of personal battling. I will be voting No for certain. Democracy was exercised and i will go along with the outcome. It seems our spineless goverment wont and i truly hope a no vote comes to fruition and power starts to get back to the people of europe.
Irish people! Please save Europe for all of us, for our future and our children future our culture, traditions and nations! You have the chance to stop that illegal and unfair treaty! Our future in your hands now! Please SAY NO!
i am from Cork Ireland and whats happening is a kick in the face to democracy.. I voted NO and will do again.. we are being treated stupid by our corrupt government.. Our day will come again... we will not be defeated.. our government will fall like Lisbon... we have had enough of the E.U. Fat Cats... lets get back our Independence...
The Lisbon treaty/constitution's "citizens initiative" shows us what post-democratic Europe will look like...a million EU "citizens" will be "allowed" to gather 1 million signatures and present this petition to the UN-ELECTED COMMISSION who are under no obligation whatsoever to do anything about it !
This is how far democracy has sunk in once democratic Europe....Gerge Orwell must be turning in his grave.
we voted no last year y the fuck do we have 2 vote again the answer will be the same NO ireland does not need the eu we did fine without it till we joined we av more polish and no jobs cuz of the eu law letting them in legaly

October 2010 and we can see the damage done by having been bribed by the lies of The EU.
Jobs vanishing, projects halting, prices rising, house prices falling, banks bust, debts escalating, wages frozen, unemployment rising, pensions threatened.
Have YOU got a future in The EU they promised you much and delivered misery.
Never mind your politicians and their parasites they don't care they won't take a pay cut.
So Ireland's future largest export will be their children
Thanks to The EU

The No side consisted of left wing dreamers ( Joe Higgins, Socialist Party, Sinn Fein ) who were mislead by right wing fascist schemers ( Ganly, Coir, UKIP.) The benefits of free education in Ireland have kicked in however and two thirds of the people are now capable of voting in their own best interests.

UK joined only to have the possibility to destroy EU from inside. I say no to this large Europe which is a joke. I say yes to a smaller Europe made of 6 to 10 countries. This Europe can move forward.

We are in the deepest recession of any counttry in europe. At the moment, If our head of government said black was white the leading opposition party would disagree.

But even though I feel defeated, I'm still going out on Friday & voting no.
gelfling08 2 years ago
Unfortunately I have a family to run and support - and so I am sorry for not lending a hand in person. It was always going to be a 'David vs Goliath situation anyway. The EU are pulling massive funding into the 'yes' campaign. The media refuses to give our 'no' campaign equal coverage.
I still have faith - I still believe the Irish will tell the EU where to shove it.

Bookie pays out on Yes bets
If bookmakers are anything to go by, the referendum result is a foregone conclusion.
Boylesports said it had already paid customers who bet on a Yes result, parting with a five-figure sum. Odds at PAddy Power for a majority Yes vote were 1/25, with the odds for a 'No' vote weakening out to 8/1.

BATTERIESc 2 years ago
Stop for a minute and think of the huge implications of what you are saying. The people cannot make a wrong decision - by definition the people are always right, it is called democracy.
You believe (incorrectly) that Ireland will be excluded and treated harshly in the future if you vote no. What you are effectively saying is "the Irish voice doesn't matter - so we must just be yes men and agree with this treaty even though we don't believe it's for the best for Ireland"

Now only Ireland can save us.
