Yes, in my opinion, the whole point is that you don't just do something because you saw your forefathers doing it. We muslims offer salat (prayers) because in the holy Quran, Allah swt has commanded the muslims to offer salat because it is good for them. The point is to recognize that a muslim submits to Allah's commands whether or not forefathers did the samething or not.

Nobody is taking the loyalties away from Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H) family as Zakir Naik said in his response "that he hold Imam Hussain(r.a) in high regards and he can never think of praising the killer of Imam Hussain(r.a)" but Yazeed did't killed Hussain(r.a) that was his point..as he also said people who r making this an issue don't believe in Sahih Al-Bukhari to which "Ahle Sunnah Wa'l Jama'ah" i.e majority of Muslims believe to be the second most authentic book after the Glorious Quran.

Yes, in my opinion, the whole point is that you don't just do something because you saw your forefathers doing it. We muslims offer salat (prayers) because in the holy Quran, Allah swt has commanded the muslims to offer salat because it is good for them. The point is to recognize that a muslim submits to Allah's commands whether or not forefathers did the samething or not.
