i feel sorry for her cause' she's not getting enough credit for all the hard work she's putting into everything! i liked the old vanessa as i always like the first version of all singers but i still stay faithful to them!
You guys, this is not sad/boring/moody. Vanessa sounds more mellow, maybe even jaded, but definitely not boring. You can detect a maturation in her style and singing voice, it's not like "I'm being slow and quieter this album just because i want to".
Some of the sounds are very organic and uncharacteristic of her, kinda bordering on indie. I love the new material she's brought in though. I think this will revive her career after the past 2 lukewarm albums. I am excited for about half the songs here. My faves from the past: 1000 miles and white houses.
I'm sorry, and I think Vanessa is very talented, but I miss the old Vanessa. I loved her old voice, I wish she had the same old voice. I'm just not a fan of this. I know she's 30 and shes changed, but I still like her old stuff.
@shuggarr Youre only saying that to avoid seeming homophobic..its not "gay-bashing" to criticizes someones first album after an event as potentially traumatic as a Coming Out...especially if the album is complete trash with the exception of one and a half songs (The song being "Tall Tales for Spring" and the half is "Fairweather Friends")
my faves: carousel, fairweather friend, tall tales for spring, the marching line.. eventhough shes having this album out in summer its the kind of amazing music i would like to listen when its cold and rainy
Coup de coeur pour "Hear the bells", "Carousel", "Dear california", "Tall tales for spring" et "in the end". Tout les titres sont bons. Bravo vanessa !!!
I just listened to the whole album ... it may not as catch as H&T ... but Rabbits In The Run really shows "other side of Vanessa" ... it's black - not dark atmosphere, gloomy but not mellow, soft but not easily gone ... seriously.... buy the album and hear it not only for one song - it's a kind of album that you can listen to the whole song and not skipping it ...
i actually have the whole album, i listen to it everyday on my phone at work, and let me just say that this preview doesnt do the album any justice. most songs start out slow but are actually great. fairweather friend and i dont wanna be a bride, and tall tales for spring
there are some websites that u can play and download single songs from this album sooooo if u save each song on your computer and then put them together you will have the album right now
You know what's weird? I haven't listened to her music in over a year.. All of a sudden I decided to play one of her songs on the guitar; "This Time", and then I realized, she came out with this, just a few days ago :) Lucky Me
My favourites are.... Carousel London I don't want to be a bride Dear California The Marching Line Get Good Fairweather Friends Tall Tales for Spring In the end Hear the bells ... okay that's all of them <3 <3 simply amazing
i can't wait for this album! I wasn't a fan of the last one and even though her sound is alittle different from her first & second album i think its going to be good yay july 26th!
I don't think I have ever craved an album this much before! I seriously cannot wait! I was devastated to find out that it got pushed back to July! My heart was set on June 21, which would have been this tuesday!! :(
This album is different in many ways... Good ways. Her vocals sound more nonchalant and effortless as if she's barely parting her lips to sing. She also doesn't sound as juvenile as she did on the last 3 albums. "Dear California" is surprising, it sounds like a 70's rock track, "I Don't Want To Be A Bride" has an mild rnb vibe about it. She's the same and different all at once. I'm so excited about this release and I love, love, love the artwork. I can't wait to hear "London" and "..Bells"
When I heard "Carousel," I saw the tone set for "Rabbits On the Run," but never in a million years did I expect this otherworldly, ethereal sound! I love it! Vanessa, you have completely outdone youself as you have in "Be Not Nobody," "Harmonium," and "Heroes and Thieves!" There's our V! Love you!
I think Fairweather Friend is going to be my favorite song ;) BTW i've already pre-ordered the album so I'm SUPER excited to hear all these songs in their entirety
@mimipockets She used a lot of children's choir on this album so it might sound like its mixed or auto tuned but trust vanessa would never do that. She would leave her label, her home and finance this record on her own just to make some cheap music. Vanessa has always been authentic.
London sounds completely magical. Fairweather Friends is very catchy and most typical of old Vanessa (i actually prefer it live) and then Dear California sounds great and totally fresh for her. Get Good sounds remarkable and ethereal. The Marching Line could well be the best piece of music she's ever made. I'm so excited about that.
@ladelivideo I prefer Fairweather Friends live too. I think she changed the title too. She took the 's' off the end. Why, why did she have to change Fairweather Friends? I loved that one and London, and I guess it's because I listened to them live so much, but I was actually saddened by the change. I hope to get over it though and love this album better than all the others. Love Vanessa!
First time I heard this, I wasnt really attached. But now I've replied this video in about 5 times and I really love this! Vanessa's awesome. Can't wait for the album!!!!
