Hmmm, funny how they blame 'lack of food' for 'lack of education'. I saw a news feature tonight that showed the small city of Lambert and mentioned that the 'nearest' grocery store was '3 miles away'. 3 miles? Maybe these people should try walking 3 miles to this store to buy vegetables etc.? I'm a father of 4 and all of my kids are thin. It is not that difficult folks and we need to quit finding 'scapegoats' for obesity.
@rleary1 walking with a family of fives worth of groceries isn't really realistic. I understand your opinion, but that isn't the answer. Behavioural changes, and education is. Most people who live in food deserts are poor and under educated. Most don't know how to cook fresh seasonal veggies.
I walk to the grocery and back to feed a family of two. But walking 2 miles (4 round trip) with spaghetti squash is difficult for anyone. Including my fit self.
