What are you talking about? People still compare John Lennon's original and David's version. But that is not the issue. Nobody touches Lennon's genius song writing skill on this song, but it is David Archuleta who sang the song so well with strong conviction that it revived the message of the song that Lennon tried to tell.

Even now people still talk about this performance because it goes down to the history of Idol as one of the best performances.

In my opinion, this is the best version/cover of the song. While John Lennon was a very very good song writer, his singing was simply average,

I like David's rendition of the sound, but I definitely prefer the original over it. Nothing, in my opinion, can overtake the emotional experience that Lennon is able to cultivate with his original version.

Archuleta deserves a lot of credit, however, he made this song his own in a lot of the correct ways.

i like David a lot,he´s amazing! It reminds me a bit to Naim Thomas (myspace/naimthomas) who was a contestant in a program similar to AI and was kick off in the last programs.
