I had to go pick my mother up at the airport so I wasn't able to visit our astroturf friends on the other side. Pity, since I'm sure after few conversations, and using their own logical fallacies against them, one of them would have taken a swing at me.
I think I can solve the "voting against their self-interest thingy" The have health insurance through their companies and don't care that so many don;t and can;t forsee losing their jobs and going with itt. For them, they don't want to pay for other people's healthcare... cause they "know its expensive." They don;t get the big picture about cost control through competition.
