I've done this with a real car before (lots of custom hardware, modified joystick, and an older Volvo with an auto trans.), but it's cool to see this done virtually on a PC using only software. Now what'd REALLY be sick is to have this output stuff over a serial line to a microcontroller so that it could be implemented in real-life situations.

FYI - this program (or at least one that does the same thing) is called "joy2key". Look it up on Google. The download is up on SourceFordge.

I just figured out yu can map axis to buttons easily with Xpadder 5.3, which is still available for free. I just chose 8-way joystick and it lets you map 4 or 6 gears to zones, and then choose which button you want to assign to each. No more searching for Virtual H-Shifter!

@ST4cKz0nD3cKk yes, it's a windows-based program so it only works on windows, and the joystick in the video is MS FFB2, but it doesn't matter whatever the joystick and/or the wheel you're using, as long as windows recoginizes it, it will work. i'm glad to share it with you, but what's yoru email address sir?

mine is a force-feedback joystick, so if i unplug the power supply, there's no center force, and for normal joystick, you can disassemble it and remove the center spring

Where do i go to assign keys to gears, would it be in game configs because i cant find it in game.

yes, the version v0.1&0.2 only uses key "9,8,7...4", and you should set these keys for 1st,2nd...6th gear ini game. But in the version2, you can set all keys for the output of the program by editing the key.cfg, which is detailed in the help document

no, there're only 2 pedals.

But i connect a second wheel so that i can use the pedal of it for the clutch, BUT, it won't work in LFS, because LFS uses the full axis value, but for my second wheel, both pedals share one axis, so once i step on one pedal, only half of the axis value changed in LFS

I had the same problem and I fixed it .... Just go to the options menu ... click on Controls , then Click "Axes/FF"

Click on calibrate ... press all pedals except for the one you dont want to use ... and then click on "Lock" beneath Calibrate ... and there you go :D ... good luck

Before reading your reply, I had to adjust the resistance so the Y-value stays at 100/100 while both pedal releases(acturally I removed one pedal, so there's only one pedal left), and once I step down on the existing pedal, the 0-60% value will be inputed linerly with the acturall angel pedal being stepped, but the 60-100% area, the value is just 100/100 for system.

And now the whole axis is linerly, thanks man!

Yes a normal joystick will be centered. but with a force feed-back joystick with the power supply unpluged or a normal joystick with the center spring removed, it won't be centered

It's hard to say, there are various types of joysticks and they're all different. Maybe some are easy to disassemble and remove the spring and others are not, if you're going to buy one, why not check it before paying ;-)

I finally removed it. It was easy, and your programa worked really well. However, I put the string again, because games I play only support sequential changes, so I'm just using 3rd and 4th gears. Great program anyway!
