  • Dude, Best Set up I've seen so far! Exactly what I'm after in fact hahaha I've been trying to do it by setting up air lift pump but it can't pump up water high enough :( I shall make it the way you made it and see :) It would be nice if you showed us what you did with the grow bed (the Set up). Thanks heaps bro!

  • @nickjin00 Thanks man! As far as the grow bed, I just made a bell siphon but used a small hose inside a pipe so that the drain hole was small. The reason I did this is because the airlift pump does not move enough water to make a 1/2" bell siphon drain. Thanks for watching and happy experimenting!

  • @claywade77 Just did a small test of the geyser pump, based on your design, and it failed... as soon as the air is filled down to the air inlet (on your disgn, the T shaped side bit where air comes in), the air pump struggles to pump more air. Perhaps the pressure inside is so great, that my air pump ain't powerful enough to pump more air in... Any suggestions of improvement?? I thought if I do a T split at the bottom where airstone is, and have air fill up from th bottom, rather than side. Maybe

  • @nickjin00 Man that is a tough one. The idea behind the geyser is to send a slug of air up all at once. To do this can be tricky but once you figure it out all is good. I put one stone at the bottom of the geyser to lighten the load so to speak. Then I tweaked the distance of the geyser tube until it was optimal. It was a little touchy until I found the right spot. I need to do a little experimenting and build a new design that is easier to adjust. Mine still works at the moment.

  • @claywade77 I found out where I went wrong last time, so I made a new one using pipes and bottles that I had at home. It worked better than the last one. It showed some potentials to pump water but in the end it failed to pump water. I could definitely here the water wanting to come up in the pipe... I'm really lost now Haha I have no idea what or how to improve... Perhaps smaller pipe/tube... It's starting to get frustrating eh

  • @nickjin00 Yeah definitely smaller pipe, I think that is the key considering we are not dealing with a large air pump. Good job and good luck! Don't let it frustrate you, just look around at stuff you have and get creative. If you have any tube around that will fit snug in your pipe then just put it in there and see if the smaller tube helps.

  • how hard was it to do?

  • @mitchisfluffy23 Easy, watch my video on DIY Geyser and you can determine for yourself. Thanks for watching!

  • Uhh I dont think you'd get sick from that? I've buried dead fish in my garden as a means of fertilization and I'm sure that if a dead rotting fish didn't give me a disease through those veggies I grew off of it then theres no way this would, realize that plants eat shit to grow (that's what fertilizer is) and they don't make you sick so I don't think this setup would it actually seems cleaner and safer than conventional ways

  • if you eat the plants and fish can you be given samonala poisoning or other diseases from the fish.

  • @wildside126 You know that is a great question that I really don't have the answer to. I would assume that you would not get it from the plants even if the fish were diseased. That said I am not sure that I would eat the plants if I knew the fish were diseased. Thanks for watching!

  • Great video, but perhaps do a close up so people can see the details of your creation. Your how to pump video is very well done.

    I sent you a message.

  • @YYZutuber Thanks for watching! I appologize about not videoing everything, I will see if I can post a better video explanation. Thank you again!

  • Well for sure, I have a question. I see that you are not using a pump, are you? Though it doesn't look like an ordinary one. I really interested in understanding your basic setup regarding pump since I generally see grow-bed, fish-tank, air-pump, and something there is pushing the water up, that is, a water pump. So, is it electrical or you are just utilizing some technique here to make the water pushed all the way up with an electric power?

Thanks a lot for sharing, I am inspired!

  • @kalidabod Thanks for watching! The pump I use is a hybrid airlift/geyser pump that I made myself. Do a quick search of geyser pump on google and you will get the idea. If you need help building one let me know. The reason for the hybrid pump is I can run it all the time and the pump actually increases the dissolved O2 levels in the water which is good for my grow bed and my aquarium. As you probably already figured out the hybrid pump runs off of the petco air pump you see in the video.

  • @claywade77 I will search more about this.

Thanks a lot for your reply, I will shall come back here frequently, please, don't stop showing us the good things. All the best.
