I've also been to Egypt before and the people there are generally very dark, some of them I think look borderline African Black. My dad had a friend there and the man actually had blue eyes and was white skinned.

I've also met a Palestinian girl in the US who had very unique color-changing sort of green eyes.

A lot of people when they see me think I'm greek or italian and generally don't initially think I'm of islamic descent.

Hello I am Turkish but live in the USA, I was looking at this video to find similarities between Turkish and Arabic culture but what I'm really curious about is that some of these guys have pale skin with brown hair and look like they could be Turkish, and when me and a lot of people think of Arabs they think of really dark skin, I'm just wondering how this happens..

I have a Jordanian friend in the US and he actually has red hair and looks like he could be Irish or German or something.

@Strife358 The reason is simply because when arabs came to that area they mixed with the local population. The same thing with Turks. When they arrived to anatolia from central asia, they mixed with the local population. That's why they don't look like mongols now.

No rumbato, the hat is Turkish. It's only logical when all the countries that were once under the Ottoman rule wore it. There is connection between the Syrian and Moroccan culture besides the fact they're Arab speakers; so it would have to be a coincidence that Syria has taken it from Moroccans.

Since my post,I read more about the history of this hat came to existance in the Othman(i dont know why u r using the otto spelling since we arabs can pronounce the th sound). Sultan Mahmud ii was thinking to use the panama Hat, but was advised that it is unislamic,so he used the Hat of the people of Fas,and made mandatory for the subjuct of the Othman Empire to wear it,excluding Yemen who rejected it totaly. However the istanbulate elite adopted the greek shaped hat which has a wider flat top.

yeah they were open until those refugees from south russia and balkan took over the empire(the young turks origins were all muhajirs) bringin with them influnces of slavic and balkan racial nationalism ( thats how turan nationalism came about) which led to the Arabs to rebel and thus the demise of the entire empire.

"3asooola" those are something like the dutch clogs. traditional footwear in old Damascus comes with Fizz. Wooden sandal especially used in old Turkish public baths. I used to have one hehehe.
