I never knew of Billy until I became such a fan of Boondock Saints. I come here several times a week and watch a bunch of these vids. This is some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen.
@headcrusher1011 I'd imagine even the Germans couldn't help but laugh at the Big Yin, the guys universally funny without being unoffensive, he could tell you you've got cancer and make ya laugh while doing it.
Yes, that's Robin in front row at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. It was an HBO Special introducing Billy Connolly's 1st appearance in America, but HBO refused to give him his own special without a Big Name Comedian opening, or headlining. Whoopie Goldberg was the comedian who pitched Billy to HBO, they relented but only if she opened. That's the part you don't ever see unless u were lucky enough to tape it way back in the 80s. Billy obviously stole the show w/his brilliance
I don't think he was refering to Joe Hanlon from Glasgow. Probably Joe Bonanno, who was a gangster from New York. The 'hairdressers floor' reference is the murder of Albert Anastasia.
I have looked for this bit for nearly 20 years! I remember it so fondly. It is one of the funniest pieces I have ever seen. On that note...in the unlikely event...I'll call Nigel Carruthers!!! ;-)
@winoguitaro i expect u know already mate but for what its worth if ur a bc fan u should watch some kevin bridges if u havent already. best glasgow comic since connolly. frankie boyle's a bit of a walloper. incidentally nice taste (green fields of france) although i prefer the fureys version. all the best dude
Anyone who loves the airplane schtick and hasn't seen George Carlin's own take on airlines should really find it on YouTube. Similar idea, but in greater detail and just as funny.
I believe this was from 1987. I used to have it on tape. It was an HBO comedy special titled Whoopi Goldberg presents Billy Connolly. If anyone knows or has a copy I have been trying to purchase it for the last 3 years. I can't find it anywhere!
Woah woah woah... was that Robin Williams at 1:27 ?

I believe Carlin may've gotten some of his ideas for his "airplane routine", which was on the HBO special, "Jammin'' In New York"(1992) , from Billy.
