  • The government has every right and responsibility to regulate workplace safety. The question is are they even doing that here. What if a mandatory condom policy leads to a more lax STD testing policing in the porn industry? It could do more harm than good. Very few cases of HIV have happened in the last few decades in the industry, this probably is just unecessary.

  • yeah that would immediately kill the creampie genre

  • come to the yay-area.

  • To be honest, I don't think this is going to hurt the porn industry (at least not when it comes to viewers). The vagina is blocking most of the dick so its not like the condom is censoring it in some form.

  • These adverts are fails; why the hell would i wan't to join a muslim dating site, what exacly makes them think that? Why the hell would i want cheap calls to Afghanistan?

  • @EYAccount lol. I get those all the time too! I think most of the time ads are connected to the types of videos you watch...but I dont really watch any pro muslim videos, so I'm confused.

  • Weak.

  • I can't have sex without a condom I won't last long :( these woman a warm sauce tht crumbles me an then the ones that high note as u go deeper wow. But with a condom on I'm stronger 15 minutes at minimum at Least 3 position changes also.....

  • @SirStanley87 huh?? You might want to try to say this again....

  • @theclawism I see where your going but wouldn't a business that focuses on sex know the risks plan for the safety of there workers.

  • This is about protecting wimen

  • My question is that, would people stop watching porn if there is a condom in it? I probably wont, so how the hell would it hurt the porn industry?

  • @Gr4yW0rld It wont hurt the whole porn industry, people will just stop watching porn that was filmed in L.A., I'm pretty sure thats what they mean.

  • @itscat92 would you really not watch a porn if there was a condom in it?

OMG a condom, this whole video is now unerotic and not arousing me at all DX

  • @Gr4yW0rld If the only porn available had condoms, then people would still watch it. But if they have the option of watching stuff without condoms, that is what they will likely go for. It doesnt make much of a difference during intercourse, but alot of people are fond of "cum shots", "facials", etc....Wow, never in my life, did I picture myself having this argument.

  • This is how you know somebody has the cure aids

  • lol just lol poor san fornando

  • los angeles...is a county???

  • 1: Nobody “Watches” porn; they USE it.

2: This is a disaster for individual rights/choices

  • Sorry TYT, but I totally disagree with you on this. This isn't about the business anymore. It's about stopping an epidemic from spreading. You do realize that HIV is a dirty secret in the porn industry, right?

If the porn industry believes that people will stop watching porn because it doesn't "fulfill their fantasies", then these people are a bunch of idiots.

  • porn is all about wtchng what you cant have,so take out out the facials ,headjobs and creampies and then wts the point lol back to the boring gf sex it is again

  • Embarrassingly enough, I did sign the petition for this in LA. At the time, I got all my info from the guy passing out the petition--who only presented the pros; not the cons. If I'd know what I know now, however, I never would have signed it.

  • Nobody cares what the porn stars are wearing, and it probably isn't a case of wanting the porn industry to produce better role models... There's a money angle somewhere in this. Are the county fees going to be in the thousands of dollars?

  • @erdal0 It's ok buddy leave it to the straight guys to spot these things.

  • fuck the porn industry.

  • Maybe I'm just crazy or maybe the gay porn industry is more health conscious, but most to almost all of the porn I have encountered in my life has featured condom use. If you for some reason have a desire to see unprotected pornography, then you have to search for that specifically, but condoms are the default. Is straight porn really that different? If so, why? What do straight guys care about the penises in a porn film?

  • @93RebelSon creampies . . .

  • Favorite just because of the last 10 seconds ahahahah

  • Observation: "Creampie" fetish is eliminated. Good thing I'm not into that anyway!

  • there goes the porn industry in LA

  • F***in condoms in porn ruins everything

  • @dmcarefuldriver It really does take you "out of the moment" if it's porn with a plot.

  • Uh... this is certainly different.

  • Never talk about marketplace in the context of politics. Don't give people any ideas.

Some people already confuse democracy with laissez-faire capitalism.

  • Fuck regulations. This is ridiculous.

  • whenever i see a condom i change the clip, it's an automatic reflex now

  • ouuuuuuuu such a kinky story

  • WTF!! I hate watching porn where they wear a condom! sucks

  • "we encourage safe sex all the time on this show" haha, really? when does this come up??

  • I have no qualms with penis censorship in porn. This law makes perfect sense to me, I hope it catches on.

  • I don't watch porn with condoms in them. They really do gross me out. They feel gross they smell gross they make your man jawn smell gross and they make sex feel less better.I have to look up and breathe threw my mouth while my girl friend puts them on for me. I don't like condoms.

  • As a retired woodsman before Viagra was released, condoms we tried with the best of intentions. First off, it's extremely difficult to perform with them, both for males (viagra fixes, but then you have the long terms effects from abuse), and especially for females, because for it created many internal problems.

Secondly, and more importantly, condom film sales couldn't hold a candle to non-condom sales. People buy porn to fantasize, not to watch reality.

LA really hurt their economy today.

  • If the Devil finds a Man idle, he'll set him at work. Too many bureaucrats with no good ideas. This is really bad for the LA and California economy.

  • It's about time. I mean I never understood why straight porn never has condoms, but most gay porn was practically forced into using condoms almost 30 years ago. I don't see a problem with it at all.

  • Thanks Cenk, for defending the unregulated Free Market!! I knew you would eventually come around! It just took government intervention into the porn industry for you to finally see the light! ;-)

We vote every day with our dollars on what companies, banks, and products will succeed or fail. Either we live in a world where society makes these decisions or the 1% i.e. the political class will.

I prefer a world where we get to make those choices!

  • I had no idea that porn couldn't be made outside of LA...

I don't care if it moves to Alaska....most porn is filmed indoors anyways.

  • LA County has terrible unemployment right now. And now they want to force out even more jobs? Smart guys, smart...Most porn is backally bullshit anyway so its nothing to move to another county.

  • @pettyofficer30 huh well that could be possible especial effects have become cheap and accessible.

  • Everything has to start somewhere, being apornactors is considered legal and yet the workconditions are terrible. Pornactors might try to be safer move to LA and thus their business continues

  • Over regulation, this is fucking stupid. The goverment isn't supposed to be our daddy holding our hand and telling us what to do to be safe.

  • Can the porn industry photoshop the condom out while editing?

  • @pettyofficer30 not in a video xD

  • Why do people defend the porn industry? It's fucking horrible.

  • @LiberalJerseyman The bible is fucking horrible and people keep shoving that in my face. Nobody forced me to watch porn.

  • @LiberalJerseyman Why is it horrible?

  • @TazManiac008 Because the capitalist assholes within the industry drive the women to slavery.

  • @LiberalJerseyman How are they different from the capitalist assholes of walmart and the retail industry, or the capitalist assholes in the oil industry, or those capitalist assholes of the financial industry who enslave everyone in dept without offering them any tangible product whilst making hundreds of millions of dollars in the process?

I am not defending the porn industry, but if you are going to rank industries, the porn industry is fuckin divine!!

  • @TazManiac008 I never said they were any different. All of capitalism is shit.

  • @LiberalJerseyman I think your problem is with corporatism, and not with capitalism. Capitalism is freedom. while corporatism is slavery!

  • @TazManiac008 Typical libertarian bullshit.

  • @LiberalJerseyman hey man looking at your alias that is a bit surprising, but I do believe that. Capitalism is not a bad thing man, it is giving people the opportunity to do what they want with their money and build a competitive successful business, and being responsible for it if it fails. It has its flaws and should be regulated to an extent, but it really is freedom. I am interested though why do you think capitalism is a bad thing?

  • @TazManiac008 It's nature has resulted in the deaths of millions.

  • Putting it on a ballot is a bad idea - doesn't make any sense. Would you want people who know absolutely nothing about your job to decide on how you should be doing your job? The decision should be left up to the performers involved in the porn industry.

  • Democracy is too expensive. Forget ballots.

  • The blood borne pathogen standard (OSHA) already requires protection for workers who come into contact with bodily fluids. The porn industry just decided that they are an exception to this and has fought enforcement.

  • The point is to normalise the use of condoms among WATCHERS of porn.. Teenaged boys.

  • @polyanthesis I know you mean well by that comment. But it should be up to the parents to teach their kids about safe & realistic sex, not porn. Everyone watches porn, not just teen boys,. It should be commen sense that porn isnt always like real life. Just like mainstream movies. Should they make James Bond wear a helmet when he is doing all his crazy stunts, so that some kid doesnt get hurt trying to repeat them?

  • What world do you live in? Boys watch porn and think that's all there is to sex....

I mean, we've all had partners that think something done in a porno might somehow, in some magical way be pleasurable and it's invariably something people only do in pornos because it just looks good, but it's ain't fun.

  • @polyanthesis I stand by my previous comment, its up to the parents to teach them the truth about sex, and it should be commen sense that real life is not like what you see in porn, movies, or television. There may be some idiots who cant understand that, but they shouldnt be able to ruin it for the rest of us.

  • @polyanthesis And girls. *cough*

  • @mwhitten77 Presumably, the people in the porn industry who contracted HIV because they had sex with infected people during the course of their job.

No big deal right? Not like preventing AIDS is a worthy goal.

  • They should come to Seattle. We need more pornstars here.

  • Honestly i think it's a good idea. Sanity has to start somewhere.

..i do however agree that chances are it's gonna cost LA.

  • As a fan of transexual bareback creampie porno this is a HUGE BLOW to my way of life.

Fucking government always fucking my shit up.

  • Cenk is only nice because he is fat and eats like a donkey

  • People don't realize that the County of Los Angeles has a total area that is larger than some states......L.A. County also has a population that is larger than ALOT of states.

"Shutting down the porn industry" (for lack of a better term), will demonstrably increase the already epidemic unemployment problem that L.A. is currently facing...

Besides, how do you calculate unemployment benefits of an out of work porn star?

By the inch?..By the Boobage?..By the least amount of gag reflex?..

  • @kennymacdaddy You really should throw in some hard facts when you make claims like that, just saying. Wikipedia is back up

  • Good intentions behind the law, but come on. You can film this shit anywhere. Most idiots who are really into porn are for some reason turned off my condom use in porn films. So all they have to do is move to another county, state or even country. It's not expensive to do so. All you need is a couple of freaky people who are hard up for some cash and a camera. So say goodbye to the porn industry LA.

  • It appears that the city is gambling that the Porn industry will pay them more money to make the condom issue go away. In the end I agree with Cenk, and I think this is a bad idea.

  • This is the same argument that Republicans use against basic regulations for American companies. They also complain that making work conditions safe, having a minimum wage, and so forth will drive companies over seas where they can avoid such regulations. I think the porn industry needs more regulations to help protect the safety and rights of the actors. If condoms are that much of a turn-off, why not use flesh colored condoms? That could be a solution

  • WHO CARES!

  • Am I the only one who doesn't mind condoms in porn?

  • I know someone from Los Angeles he is thick as two short planks and spends his time on insult chatrooms. Explains a lot as to why he acts like a child

  • Liberalism does not excuse unsafe and unhealthy immorality. People will blame rape and disease on Liberalism if we aren't careful. Us Liberals can not advertise sexual education for kids to protect them from disease and then complain when pornstars are made to wear condoms to prevent unwanted pregnancies and the spreading of STD's. TYT, you really let me down on this one. Lead by example, and wise up.

  • TYT, I think ya'll are wrong on this issue. Every industry has safety measures protecting employees from work-related injuries. If you're at a facility with heavy machinery, OSHA requires all employees to ear hearing protection. If you work with infectious agents in a laboratory, federal guidelines require you to protect yourself with. All of these safety precautions are expensive. With porn, STDs are a work-related health hazard. I see no reason as to why this ban is not reasonable.

  • Sorry Anna, you and I are just gonna have to post pone our movie until we get to San Francisco... and i can't wait!

  • Can't they make condoms look skin colored?

  • guys i agree with the state this time. it may not look as appealing on screen but if u look at the statistics of std and hiv contracted by porn actors through each others because they are not allowed to use protection on set, your views will be different, at least i hope

  • So they'll have a uniformed force of pecker checkers raiding porn studios to see if the dudes are wearing jimmy hats? California, gotta love it!

  • I don't see how condoms effect the quality of the porn. With or without, they're faking the enjoyment anyway.

  • People still pay for porn these days? Free porn is why the interwebz were created!

  • How dangerous is riding a motorcycle? Driving in a car? sky diving? Inhaling bus fumes? If any of those activities have a higher percentage of injury/death should we really be that far down on the list of priorities that we are focusing on the porn industry?

  • How is this gonna fix the economy?

  • they make their actors/actresses have monthly std tests anyway

  • Only explanation: Council members have condom fetish.

  • French porn has had mandatory condoms for years and it's much better than American porn.

  • Maybe their goal was to get the porn industry out of LA?

  • ¡O no! ¡¿Qué será de California sin la industria porno?!

  • the problem is that they don't test in gay porn and then those guys cross over to het.

  • @siyrean Not sure how you know that, but thank you for enlightening us. That does seem to be a problem, but I don't think mandating condom use will help.

  • Great, yet another industry to be driven out of LA due to over-regulation, taxes, and fees. Fine job legislators, fine job... you guys really know how to respond to an economic crisis... I'm a Californian and I can recognize that this is certainly yet another example of the state (or city in this case) paving its own path in the dead wrong direction. Meanwhile, the real issues will be ignored, like our infrastructure falling apart or our massive state deficit.

  • @Ollie9402 Section 5193.1 Sexually transmitted infections in the adult entertainment industry

(1)This section applies to all occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens and

other sexually transmitted infections in the adult entertainment industry, as

    defined below.

performers actually engage in any activity that may result in exposure of the eyes, skin, mouth, anus, vagina, or other mucous membranes to the blood or OPIM—STI of another person if protective measures are not in place.

  • @siyrean“OPIM—STI” means pre-ejaculate, ejaculate, semen, vaginal secretions, fecal matter and rectal secretions, secretions from wounds or sores that are potentially infected with sexually transmitted pathogens, any other bodily fluid when visibly contaminated with blood or all bodily fluids in situations where it is difficult or impossible to differentiate between bodily fluids

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

  • I havent watched this yet but this is what I want to know. How are they defining L.A.? Are they including Van Nuys, Ontario, Long Beach, or any of the other metro cities? How will they enforce it? Who will tell them where it was shot? Why does the government tell people what they can and cant do with their own body? Lets see how many answers I get from the video

  • @SUPATRUKA I think the law just focuses on Los Angeles County. I forget all the different cities located in the county, but if you Wikipedia it, it's all specified in detail.

  • america, land of the free

  • it's moving to san fran, is what i heard

  • no!!! stay in my city! :(

  • More business for San Diego!

  • If the market wants unsafe sex, why don't we just nationalize the industry? Of course TYT are total capitalists who won't actually consider real alternatives...

  • @Ollie9402 I don't know if TYT would be against nationalization of porn, and it doesn't matter. The government and the public at large would never go for it. That makes it anything but a real alternative.

  • So if a couple living their wants to film themselves bareback, is that now illegal?

  • @Brewhahh if they shoot the condomless sex film in los angeles county, and actually "sell" their film as a "legitimate product"....then the answer is yes. however, if they shoot the film and just keep the footage for their own enjoyment or give it away for free...then the answer is no.

  • This will mean more lesbian porn.

    Win.

  • Porn without a money shot!!?... it won't work.

  • the porn industry has it's own regulations to handle std's, actors/actresses are tested very regularly, they don't need people who don't know about their business to stick their noes in it. and what about come shots? or oral? are dental dams now required? do girls have to wear protective eye gear?

  • 1st SOPA... Now Condoms?!?!?

Where will the awesome free porn come from now?!?!?!?!?

    XoO

  • One of my grad school colleagues had connections to the film industry (Vinny Marino, who did Porn Stars Are People Too for ABC Radio) and said condom use in porn was pretty common, anyway.

  • porn with condoms is lame and i cant jack off to it

  • Comment removed

  • If it wasn't for the Young Turks, I wouldn't be wearing a condom......?

  • I don't see what's wrong with this. I thought we were for government regulating private corporations?

  • @xXConnorMacDonaldXx Lets see what you say when they tell you what position you can fuck in. It'll happen watch. The problem is over regulation. The market/people should decide something like this not the bureaucrats. Most regulation of corporations is done in favor of the corps. not the people, thats the problem. Its also why the porn industry has to pay a fee for it. Can you say revenue generation, I knew you could.

  • man porn with condoms is so wierd

  • @22smosh why do you want to see the dick?

  • are you kidden me, you people are against this. we're talking about safe sex here wtf.

  • @Croxyndul There against it due to the fact its restricting freedom, and that is wrong.

  • @drew00998 as long as these people get tested before entering each other they don't HAVE to wear it. it's all about preventing stds.

  • I wonder how actual porn workers feel about this. Do THEY feel safer when condoms are used ? Some must....I do feel that a law has to be put in place to protect them...maybe not a condom law, but a law that would require all the workers to get tested for STDs immediately before each shoot or something ? If that's even possible... Maybe something like this is already in place ? No idea...

  • What a fascist law. Why stop at porn? Why not just say all people engaging in sex must wear condoms. What about lesbian porn? Do they wear female condoms? What about jerk off flicks? Condoms for solo Stan too?

Idiotic and unpractical. I believe safe sex is undoubtably better, but keep the government out of your pants

  • @fitystairfun The government shouldn't arbitrarily restrict people's freedoms (that's what an autharitarian state does), but job safety regulations aren't arbitrary.

  • Porn films in France use condoms all the time. Is it a problem ? No ! On the contrary : we see less dicks and more pussies. And they can remove it at the end for the money shot. The only niche market that they lose is creampies. Sad but not a disaster !

And that's a hell of a good choice for the performers' health. If the business moves, that's because there will be other asshole cities that don't act in favor of peoples' health.

  • @nickst0ne dude, you dont see less dicks, you still see the same number of dicks only wrapped in latex. i support the use of condoms anyway possible but i hell as dont support government trying to get into our pants.

  • @72dew : government doesn't get into our pants. This is a professional activity. Government enforces laws so that employers don't put employees (and contractors alike) at risk. It's very similar to other jobs where people have to wear protection goggles, gloves and hardened shoes... they can do without gear when they're at home and hurt themselves all they want, but at work they have to wear protection.

  • @nickst0ne you do have a really good point there. but it's porn, i wouldnt call it work or professional activity in anyway, though :/

  • @nickst0ne great argument. Only don't they like screen their workers for disease?

  • @ZAGGNUT1 the big wigs running the porn industry are afraid they'll lose millions, possibly billions if they are forced to shoot every scene with the use of condoms. the personal health of their employees aren't a priority to them. they care about the bottom line. if someone tests positive for HIV they'll just shut down the industry for a few days until they track down who the source is. they think its a cheaper solution than to lose millions because lots of ppl wont buy porn unless its raw sex

  • @ZAGGNUT1 : I don't know everything and I don't know if they screen porn actors. But definitely screening is not enough (I guess screening should be used in conjunction with condoms). I saw some interview, I think it was Sasha Grey... She already had a few infections through her job.

  • @nickst0ne Are you really being serious right now?

  • @rvolk86 : Yes, I am being serious. If you disagree with any part of what I said, you're more than welcome to point out which one and explain the reasons why you disagree.

  • Rick Santorum is against contraception. So in a strange way, Rick Santorum is for non-condom porn. Go Rick!

  • @StrychnineLD100 I have no clue what contact lock is lolol

  • the Porn Police, are here.

  • Rick Perry: My name is rick perry i support the use of penis wrappers...and newt gingrich.

  • Did they say what their reason for mandating condom use was? Was it to set an example for teens?

  • That STD might jump thru the screen and infect you. oh nooo

  • People should Practicing Safe Sex...Porn Stars should choose if they wanna use condoms or not...Funny.
