  • when i try this i get a penalty. actually after last season mabye im not to different from hamilton after all

  • Legard go kill yourself please

  • Only hamilton does something with balls of steel like this.. :|

  • In my opinion great overtake :) .....

  • I gave a thumbs up to the comments I agree with. I admit that this was a great overtake, but Webber/Alonso and Alonso/Button this season were better. Still, this is what we want to see though. Screw all that KERS/DRS bs.

  • Lewis had fresh tyres... :)

  • F1 fans get so EXCITED about a pass. lol

  • @SJM1994London

DRS gets disabled for two laps after the safety car restarts and the start of the race, just letting you know...

  • I'm pondering as to wether this is the greatest overtake in recent F1 history?! Pure racing instinct and phenomenal car control! Anyone with a better example of a classic overtake in the last 5 or so seasons then let me know.....

  • @GarrettM221 Well, considering that Kimi's tyres were almost at their maximum limit of endurance, (he had them too many laps)... then... no, it was not exactly a great overtake. ;)

  • @impinas it was good though, this is a prime example of one of the most brave overtakes in f1 as the distance between hamilton and raikonnen was massive yet he went for it.

  • @GarrettM221 Mark Webber at Eau Rouge Spa this year; that was decent. Not better than this, but still pretty damn amazing.

  • @xxJSGC123xx True true... Thats was a sensational overtake! More balls and bravery than driving skill and car control though!

  • @GarrettM221 Mark Webber overtaking Alonso through Eau Rouge? I don't think you'll find an overtake that took more balls than that did.

  • @GarrettM221 Webber on Alonso through Eau Rouge at Spa. Total bravery knowing that 1 twitch on the steering from either drivers could have turned the pass into an aeroplane accident

  • @F1Mad93 Very true... Somehow i'd forgotten that one! Pure bravery from Webber... Was great to watch!

  • @GarrettM221 Brazil, 2011. Alonso on Button.

  • @carsismeZ06 True indeed, great instinct and bravery. Not quite the same level of car control shown though (In my humble opinion!) as the Hamilton Raikonnen incident! Cant wait for this year though!

  • @GarrettM221 Spa 2011, Webber on Alonso, Monza: Vettel on Alonso.

  • @MusicalAndTall Neither really compares though. Sure, going up Eau Rouge and blowing up dust can seem all the more exciting, but as far as racing talent goes this tops it.

  • @4damskii Yes but most fans who only watch it for the 'viewing' factor would prefer the ones I mentioned. I say this pass was much more difficult like you, however.

  • @MusicalAndTall vettel v alonso at monza was an outside over take where he touched the grass :/ big deal

  • @lukewill783 It is a big deal when grass has a very low coefficient of friction.

  • @MusicalAndTall dude i race most days. touching the grass isnt a big deal. just live with it

  • @GarrettM221 Mark Webber on Fernando Alonso through Eau Rouge.

  • @SJM1994London No Vettle definatley will not have used DRS into turn 3, because the DRS zone wasnt there. The DRS zone was from parabolica, down to turn 1. Vettle used it there to get up close, then used a slipsteam out of turn 2. So he didnt use DRS to overtake, but he did use it to close the gap, which makes it much easier.

  • as much as i hate to say it neither vettel or hamilton are the best drivers in f1. alonso's probably the best all around driver

  • @ThreeLiterV10 I hate to admit that I agree with you.

  • @ThreeLiterV10 Button is IMO. I don't think Alonso could receive a drive through, Have a puncture, go into/through the pits 6 times, then catch up, put pressure on then pass a driver in the form of his life. However Alonso is 2nd best no argument, and maybe in some areas the best. (I stress that this is just an opinion)

  • @09rob12341 yea i agree with you he is the best driver when it comes to changable conditions but i never do see him put such performences when the track is dry and lets be honest here most of the races on the calandar are dry anyway

  • @09rob12341 Err, the guy who came in with the safety car when Vettel was miles away from the rest would like to have a word with you.

  • @ThreeLiterV10 agreed completely, although you have to admit vettel winning in monza in 2008 was incredible

  • Bravest move ive ever seen!

  • Let's face it, no other driver would have the balls to brake that late, and hamilton made it work. Button is very strategic and intelligent though, a great team in my opinion.

  • 1. Vettel's pass on Alonso was way better.

    2. Sebastian Vettel is currently the best driver in Formula 1.

    3. There is no argument.

  • @DrummerGuy2409 its just a arrogant prick.. they both are

  • Comment removed

  • @DrummerGuy2409 1. Vettel had DRS in the main straight allowing him get close and line up for the pass into turn 3, Hamilton did not.

    2. Vettel has the best car in Formula 1

    3. Vettel still hasnt proved he can cope with wheel to wheel combat. This was a great move, but with DRS anybody can overtake. But at Nurburgring, he sat behind a Massa for 15 laps cant couldnt overtake even with DRS, his team had to pit him just so he could pass. He still has much to prove.

    4.There is no argument

  • Even though I am fan of Kimi Raikkonen and don't like Hamilton too much this is still one of the greatest overtakes in F1 history. It is just amazing how he can turn the car into the corner. Bit of luck for sure, but great move anyway.

  • if he tried that now hed of smashed into the side of kimi ... hope he gets back to his best next season

  • if i not mistake kimi was injured before in free practice o qualify at monza... hmmm

  • @afiqsyazwan1990 Well he really wasn't injured, but his car was! If I remember right he used the spare car in that race. Which was the reason for being so slow against Hamilton.

  • Wow, such a boring sport passing is a huge deal!

  • music 0:00 to 0:03?

  • @Omarturkol Lift me Up

  • @BigDave297 thank you very much :)

  • One of the best over takes in F1!! The reason is that he's braking from nearly 220MPH to around 65MPH, pulls off the move from so far back, locks up his front wheels, turns in with them still locked, corrects it with opposite lock and makes the overtake stick!! There is'nt many drivers in the world who could pull that off without crashing into the other car or not making the turn!! If only his overtakes this year were as clean as this he might have a few more wins under his belt.

  • @frankietiddles been reading the bbc blogs have we?!

  • @jamesreesmusician Not much, although i've read articles in F1 RACING & AUTOSPORT magazine and they all say similar things. Do you know of any other overtakes in F1 as skilled as this?

  • Why couldn't he do that to Schumi? I think Lewis has lost something what with all his detractors. 2007 is his best year so far.

  • @tubehows4life because he was geared way too low. Even with DRS open he was still at a much lower speed than the Mercedes.

  • @Shadowboost I mean overtake under braking. Lewis was closer to Schumi than he is to Kimi, he just didnt want to send it up the inside like here.

  • @tubehows4life you mean the regulations and penalties have messed him up.. yep! He is still the best though despite Massa, The FIA and stewards, and Schumacher being tools.

  • @MagicAyrtonforever Yeah, he's a pusher, and with these tyres he cant push hard like he loves to do, its always about looking after your tyres or else they go off, what kind of racing is that?!

And now you have penalties handed out for all kinds of incidents, anyone who contacts with anyone gets called to the stewards! This is quite a recent evolution, even 5 years ago it wasn't quite like that.

Then all his detractors heavily criticising him, I think his racers mind has been messed up!

  • James Allen: Oh my good lord, I can't believe he did that, that was from so far away, it was unheard of it was majestic blah blah blah blah

  • this titile makes him sound like a pet hamster!

  • @Jedontrack - Isn't that Richard Hammond ;P

  • who the fuck calls him hami ?????????

  • HAMILTON'S GREATEST OVERTAKE!

  • @unluckychicken404 nah... his best overtake was on timo glock in 2008 on the last lap of brazil

  • @xboxfan35 ok SECOND BEST lol!

  • hamilton reallky agresisve on that overtacking great!

  • No KERS, no DRS. If he want, he can!

  • I think the cars looked better then than now....

  • @Phoenix1664 I agree :D I think the Shark fin destroyed the look, but this year they are slowly returning to the 2007 & 2008 look :)

  • I love kimi's lazy driving style. Hope to see him back in f1 soon in a competetive car.

  • 0:32 Kimi: "what the??"

  • People hate Hamilton because he is the best and arrogant about it.

  • @TheAncientMariner66 and I hate Alonso because he thinks he's the best and arrogant about it

  • @TheAncientMariner66 In all 5 years hes been in the sport, i wouldnt call him arrogant, hes had more expected of him, and if it wasnt for the gearing failure at sao paulo in 08, hed be a double world champion already. vettel is an overrated piece of shit, and vettel is actually a WORSE loser than most, he gets mad as shit and spits his dummy out when things dont go his way, Taxi driver.

Nobody can say that Lewis isnt smiling and upbeat 95% of the time even when he loses.

  • @TheAncientMariner66 nope vettel is the best and thats obvious. vettel is the new era

  • @agaz12 best car by a country mile 2 years on the trot. yeh shut up

  • @hamiltonlegend24 nope its not the car

u see webber he is losing but he is same as gpood as hamilton. so you see how extremley strong vettel is. vettel is the only one who can brake schumacher record.

  • @agaz12 please. take spanish gp as an example. vettel's car had so much more downforce than the mclaren. Vettel is good but i believe that most of the drivers are as good as each other. you cannot say he is much better than everyone else. look at quali in brazil. webber's taken a couple of poles this season. he has had woeful starts plus he gave away his only chance of having a championship. his moral is down but webber is nowhere near as good as hamilton on form

  • @hamiltonlegend24 vettel is best. thats my opinion and the most people on the world think the same

  • @agaz12 really? you seriously think that? maybe you should ask the button fans, the schumacher fans, the alonso fans and the Hamilton fans. Fact is that f1 is so much about the car now and preserving tyres that it is very hard to tell. seb has won the title this year and webber hasnt because he can get heat into his tyres and webber can't. the redbull is kinder on its tyres than any other car. the redbull has more downforce than any other car. vettel is not the best nor is it obvious

  • @hamiltonlegend24 he is you see the old f1 drivers think the same. every old f1 driver is thinking vettel is best. and you see hamilton has lost in 2008 against vettel with toro rosso. and the toro rosso was a bad car. so you see vettel is best.

  • @agaz12 i know you are trying to annoy me but I'm going to pummel you into the ground with your logic. Vettel beat Hamilton in Monza, not 2008. Because of poor strategy from McLaren. If you actually watched the race you would have seen hamilton hunting vettel down like an animal. Torro Rosso wasn't a bad car,it had a ferrari engine. give me evidence that every old driver says he is the best.

  • @hamiltonlegend24 in formula1.com u can read that all old f1 drivers say vettel is the best. And 2008 he won with the toro rosso and toro rosso has a bad performance cause of bad handling. mclaren was much better at 2008. and he had won against him. so he is better. the engine is not all. the aerodynamic is also really important. and that was bad from the toro rosso.

  • @agaz12 well i went on formula1.com and found nothing. Hamilton had a worse car than a torro rosso and won twice. granted the car improved but this is not the point. look at some of hamilton's driving when the car was terrible. 2008 monza one race. it was raining plus changeable conditions why won't you listen to me. plus torro rosso was basically a red bull and cant you say adrian newey makes cars with bad aerodynamics. compared to 2009 mclaren. aerodynamic properties of a fridge

  • @hamiltonlegend24 adrian newey went 2009 to red bull and not 2008. so the toro rosso was bad cause of bad aerodynamics

  • @agaz12 adrian newey was at redbull in 2006 you absolute imbecile. I'm saying the torro rosso in 2008 was essentially a 2008 redbull with a ferrari engine, so it had redbull aerodynamics designed by newey. you clearly have no idea bout f1

  • @agaz12 Why is Vettel best? I want ur opinion and not 1 copied from old drivers! If you're going to stick your nose out and say something then back it up.... I don't think Vettel can be classed as best driver yet as hes not driven a bad car consistently quickly. Yes he can drive a very quick car very quickly but that doesnt make him best just means he drives a car to its limit. Take Ham, Alo and But this year who have put slower cars where they shouldn't have been! Thats more impressive.

  • @GarrettM221 To be fair, when has Hamilton had a slow car like a Toro Rosso. Yeah he was uncompetitive in 2009 but he still had the Mclaren team behind him so they could easily make progress. Vettel scored points in his first race for BMW Sauber in 2007 covering the injured Kubica. He then got signed by Toro Rosso later that year and got 4th in Shanghai. A year later he won a race in a Toro Rosso and consistently scored points. He has worked his way up. Hamilton has had everything given to him.

  • @hamiltonlegend24 and if u dont believe then why everyone says vettel is best driver. bernie ecclestone, nikki lauda, david coulthard and much more are saying vettel is the best. the new vettel era has begun

  • @TheAncientMariner66 He isn't the best, and never will be. He might be the fastest, but his no A.Senna, as he called himself . He's a frustated pet of McLaren and under pressure of Whitmarsh when the car is slow he's nothing, he doesn't exist. Ham is competetive when the car is, he's only slighty better then Massa or Webber. Too nervous, too recless and he's driving only to be on top not to have fun. Now the best f1 driver is Alonso and after that Seb. People hate Ham because of his behaviour

  • @LuDZioZJaD None of the current drivers win races in slow cars. When Vettel won in Monza 08

it was wet when the other front runners had the wrong set up, even Bourdais qualified 4th in that race! They had a wet set up the rest didn't. I agree Hamilton is mentally fragile compared to Alonso, but I do believe Hamilton has the most raw talent and will eventually sort his head out and be a dominant force. Alonso actually did say recently Hamilton can win in a car that is not the best.

  • @LuDZioZJaD Button did not beat Lewis in the same way that Vettel is beat Webber. On raw pace, Button is still behind Lewis, without doubt, and this is quite obvious. He has done a solid job to keep out of trouble and capitalize on Lewis' incidents and penalties.

  • Ho won champions 2007? Kimi

  • Gilles Villenueve would be proud

  • @ashishbully Yea ok there.

  • Kimi was sleeping

  • he was lucky kimi looked in his mirrors , otherwise,...

  • Kimi was nursing a strained neck that weekend after a huge crash in practice. Hamilton could only ever beat an injured Kimi.

  • @amr7k False, Kimi had a hangover from a bunga bunga party and was jerking in the car. Kimi got OWNED BIG time there.

  • @jpcvr ..... lol

  • The only time we can forgive James Allen.

  • This pass was Senna-esque

  • hamilton and kobiyashi partners in red bull.

    so amazing.

  • @001blackhole in your dreams...Vettel is not going anywhere from RedBull for a long time. But Kobayashi is certainly one of those drivers that might get to RedBull when Webber decides to retire (which I bet is going to be after this season).

But ofcourse I still wish that Kimi would return back to F1...he and Vettel are friends and RedBull has sponsored him, so it's not impossible, but I doubt that even if RedBull would try to get Kimi, he wouldnt want to return back to F1 anymore.

  • @Balnazzardi

m8 i didnt say they would lol.

anyway i want kimi bak he gave formula 1 the real racing challenge

  • From what i remember Kimi's neck was fucked after a massive crash in quali, and towards the end of the race he could barely hold his head up under braking, so might have been braking early? That's what he said afterwards anyway. Still, gotta give credit to Lewis - that first season when he took on Alonso was brilliant!!

  • Put kobayashi in a re bull and he'd be world champion EASILY! He obviously has masses of talent. And he's japanese, Japanese people are just cool.

  • @jimftr he must replace webber!!!! he must! HE WILL SOOO BE CHAMPION!!! he has the best personallity in the whole of f1!

  • Best pass since 2006

  • Kimi was heavy on fuel because ferrari had only one stop strategy in this race, anyway this isn't a justification.Hamilton was very brave with this move comnig from far behind and to overtake in this chiacane.Man,you really must have balls.

  • One of the best and funniest overtaking manoeuvres i've ever seen. He managed to overtake Kimi from such a long way back. Its amazing how much speed he was able to carry into that corner as well.

  • that's an amazing overtake, what a braking

  • Crazy Lewis! I don't like him a lot but respect for courage!

  • how late was he on the brakes O_O

  • Thumbs up if you think Hamilton and Kobayashi are the best at overtaking

  • @xboxfan35 But Hamilton today is a little bit reckless I think :) and Kobayashi is better I think because he uses Sauber which is much slower than McLaren :)

  • @aryatololHTF that is true after the many crashes he has had recently

  • @xboxfan35 maybe not kobayashi any more but still

  • @xboxfan35 Nah, Kobayashi is still out there passing people...Once again, he passed both Williams' at the Nurburgring...His car doesn't really allow for much...Ferrari would be better off throwing that old pile of bricks (Massa) out and hiring Kamui instead...Lewis is the all round better driver though.

  • @Caseestoner true

  • @xboxfan35 because they both have a very aggresive racing style

  • @xboxfan35

Jenson's getting really good at it too, though you might argue that's because a lot of his other performances in qualifying, or during starts this season haven't been as good.

  • @WaldenWestBovine your right hamilton keeps crashing which is letting him down

  • IS IT ME OR HAS HAMILTON LOST HISOVERTAKING SKILLS LOOK AT HAMILTON 2007 AND NOW HE IUS WAY MORE AGGRESSIVE BACKTHEN

  • @dojOdRiFTeR Nah, just you mate. He was at it again a couple of hours ago winning the Chinese GP!

  • Moments like this make me remember just how he is world champion.

  • Lewis is the fastest driver in F1 and currently THE overtaking master. God forbid McLaren gives him the best car, we can all shut the television off..Lewis will be Champ that year.

  • @Legendary081 I agree he is the best driver but i doubt he is aggressive driver. Vettel, Kamui, Kubica were much more aggressive in 2010. Hamilton is getting calm after he got championship.

  • @jijijiijijiijijijiji all four of them are always aggressive style, but Kobayashi is handicapped with the Sauber C29. They are a delight to watch. It's a shame we wont be seeing Kubica racing this 2011 perhaps.

  • @jijijiijijiijijijiji lol.. look at him now and say he is not aggressive. if anything he is too aggressive >_< :p

  • lol he sure is aggrasive and he sure is a crasher

  • The cars that year were ugly as hell lol

  • @RobClassic in 2007 and 2008 the cars were looking very nice . Everyone has different tastes though.

  • @puddingpants7 Those years where the best they ever looked in my opinion 07 & 08 = Absolute Beauty :D

  • Messy, think Raikkonen was the main star avoiding a clumsy move by Hamilton

  • @Legendary081 Let's not forget that Kimi had very sore neck after the crash during free practise. As you can see from this video Kimi can barely keep his head up during the breaking as it hurt so badly. I wasn't surprised at all that Hamilton was able to overtake Kimi. It was just matter or time. Because of that it was hardly that amazing overtaking manouver. But good job, nevertheless.

  • @Legendary081

Moreover I know the top gear episode when MSC says that AS is the best driver ever, but m8, did you think that he would say: No, I'm the best driver, not Ayrton Senna.

  • yea yea senna's the best driver ever that's undeniable..

poles didn't really mean much in 2007 thanks to the top 10 order being artificially decided by which guy had less fuel than the other... they seemed pretty evenly matched in 2007, no one destroyed the other.

as for your last sentence i have no idea what the hell that means

  • @Anime998877

    When was this poll?

  • @Legendary081

Agree totally with what you say except for one crucial point: Schumacher is for sure an extraordinary overtaker and the best driver of all times. I'm not judging because of the numbers. If you watch F1 for such a long time, then you can surely remember Spa 1995, or Catalunya 96.

I don't like this sort of people, who keep telling that Senna is the greatest just because he died. Prost was better, and MSC is by far better. The only problem for people like you is, that he is a german

  • i don't deny schumi would have been less successful had senna lived, he's is still an immensely talented driver though.

poles don't mean jackshit in a year where qualifying was artificially decided by fuel loads. in wins they were 4-4 and tied on points. in fangio's era there were a lot of drivers in their forties, schumi's the only one in this era..

ok you're definitely 12 years old i won't try to argue with you. well either that or you're the most blinkered person i've seen.

  • @Legendary081 you complete idiot - all i said was schumi used to be a legendary overtaker in the past. he's overrated? the most successful driver ever is overrated?

hamilton certainly did not destroy alonso in 2007. they were tied on points. besides in 2010 alonso finished ahead of hamilton in the championship in an inferior car!

one of the most retarded comment i've ever seen - "hamilton is the ONLY reason to watch f1" - you get the fuck out you simpleton.

  • @Legendary081 dude, WTF? how long have you been watching f1? schumi used to be a legendary overtaker, his come-through-the-field drives in races like spain 96 or belgium 95 were incredible. alonso is STILL an amazing racer, in 2010 he actually made more overtakes than hamilton despite hamilton having the monstrous mercedes engine with the best f-duct .. i don't deny hamilton makes f1 nicer to watch, but saying he's the ONLY reason to watch f1 is retarded.

  • @MetalHead1993666 Dude...watch the passes again...he only had one rather clumsy pass, which still worked out for him! Face it, Kobayashi and Lewis ,the best overtakers of today

  • @nitroboost8765 bloody love them both! JAPAN AND UK UNITE!!!!!!!!

  • @nitroboost8765 I think Perez has joined the group now!

  • @Helipadsarefun Perez is certainly impressive, what is it about so many of these Sauber drivers? First Kubica, then Kobayashi, they always had Heidfeld who has proven himself a competent overtaker, and now, Perez!

  • @nitroboost8765 kobayashi is more fun though, easily more interesting to watch, hes crazy

  • @Lemmingmurderer yeah LOL, them Japanese drivers, they're awesome! :D

  • In today's F1, Hamilton and Kobayashi are the most exciting drivers - by far!

Hopefully Kobayashi takes out the prejudice that japanese driver do unconsidered overtaking manouvres!

  • @keytek9 koby dont have shit, the overtaking he was doin at suzuka was shocking 8 outta 10 times he will make contact while overtaking. and he aint gunna be in a good car. 2011 will be his last year. and the only reason he is in there is cauz he brings aot money from sponsors, fukin asains.

  • @LewisHamilton1991 You don't seem to appreciate true class when you see it. Kobayashi is as good as it gets when it comes to overtaking, the moves he made at Suzuka were incredible. The first one was a bit clumsy, but other than that it was immense. Not many drivers could go around the outside of a tight 1st gear corner like Kobayashi did. He has some incredible skill.

  • @LewisHamilton1991 Are you fucking insane?! Kobayashi is the only other driver who is willing to do a little wheel banging to get himself ahead! Lewis is awesome, but Kamui is really punching above his weight in an inferior car...put both of them in McLaren, we'll see if kamui fares better than jenson (which i assure you, he will)

  • @nitroboost8765 true i reckon if kamui is given a gd car he can win a chasmpionship he has the raw pace in a shit ar

  • @dojOdRiFTeR If only they would sack that idiot Massa....

  • @nitroboost8765 true

  • koby can mark lewis ass if he had a good car

  • @MetalHead1993666 Yes but he didn't have crash ;)

  • @MetalHead1993666 Perhaps but he never do crash or something like that and he drives so good ;)

If he has a lot of accident I agree with and I said that he's a kamikaze but as long as he doesn't have any accident, we can't say that he's a kamikaze ;)

  • i bet raikkonen was like, how the fuck did that just happen ?!?!

  • Beautifully precise..And from a mile back! Lewis, Kubica and Kobayashi are the best overtakers in F1 today, although they have radically different driving styles, they are still classified as aggressive...

  • best manuvour ever go lewis

  • this is why Lewis is our favourite driver! when the little black fella came in 2007, i loved him straight away. The new Ayrton!

  • Great ballsy move, to even go for it from that far back takes some "maracas" but the fact that kimi was driving with an injured neck has to be taken into account thou, but still was pretty damn good.

  • I love the color of those Ferrari's. Not the normal Rosso Corsa, but the darker, metallic color.

  • @carsismeZ06 yes! the 2007 ferrari with the special red color(at the beginning of the season they were normal red) is probably the most beautiful ferrari i have ever seen....and also the 1995 ferrari! I painted my scooter exaclty the same color haha, it was very expensive but it was beautiful!

  • @carsismeZ06 Its not metallic ferrari doesnt make a metallic paint.
