It's a bit of a shame that this people is known as "super-human athletes", and not the beautiful, friendly, and all around great people that they are.
It is true than many have died because of religious intolerance, whether Christian, Jewish or Muslim. And many more have died due to political intolerance. Intolerance and a failure to respect human life is the true cause of human misery.
While that observation may be valid, the point of this documentary was to explore how the Tarahumara culture has undergone change. At the same time they have been able to maintain much of their culture and beliefs. This is the story of survival of a culture despite the changes brought by outsiders.
The documentary was produced in 1998 when I worked at WILL-TV, the PBS station in Champaign-Urbana, IL. To obtain a copy, contact WILL at 217-333-7300. The program is still listed on their website but the progtram companion site is no longer active.
the nice things about these people are that there friendly.alot of other indigenous tribes are wild and a little non acceptant mean(no offence)...i want to live with them...
they dont hate help and they dont hate technology coz they havent seen it, im from the city of chihuahua, some miles away from them, and its hard to see the way they live while chihuahua is 2nd most competitive city in mexico and we still dont do anything for them...
let me tell you that this video is pretty good.. im from chihuahua, and i do missiontrips with tarahumaras every year. that culture is one of a kind and your video explained it well in short time... congratulations
