@phoeniximperator I'd think that it could rotate half rotation during the day, then rotate back the very same way at night to reach back to the starting point, then the wiring and plumbing could just have sufficient slack.
20 thousand $ for the rotating mechanism?Cant we opt for a steel framework instead of wood and make the total price more accessible for the normal people?
@blakychan888 -well,wood is nice but not recommended in arias with termite danger like Miami,or neighborhoods.I guess there must be cheaper options to replace the wood with.thanks for your answer
Ridiculous! Lose all the benefits of earth berming, ambient earth temperature, and Annualized Geo-Solar heating and cooling, just to rotate to keep the sun on one side of the house? Build a passive solar. What a disastrous understanding of the problem, and an unnecessary waste of energy and resources.
I don't understand your comments... The house apprently let's you take the orientation you desire to maximize passive solar energy (heat) for your bedroom then for your living room or any room you want to spend time in. Seems pretty good to me.
The foundation also looks like it is causing much less disruption of the parcel that a traditional house. Also the fact that it is raised from the ground must tremendously reduce humidity in the home. Great asset....
There is always a north side to the house, and sometimes its the rooms you are occuping so there is more thermal loss. There is no thermal mass in the house, so you do not have any retention of solar gain during the day to radiate at night. The foundation does not gain any moderating effect from the earth because it is raised above and likely insulated from.
In the winter the floor would be cold, or, the house would require enormous amounts of heating over night. Humidity is reduced by removing excess moisture from the air, this could not be done in this house without enormous energy expenditures. You can do it very cheaply using earth-coupled heat exchangers.
Nice UFO House

This is going to be my next house. :) Perfectly in sync with nature. AND a rarity in Canada - actually there is none here.

one of the most interesting thing is that it's made with wood and not steel or concrete
there is an other model without the rotation systeme
(but if you live somewhere with winter, in the long run, using the sun with the rotation could be less expensive)

cheaper option might be the dense polystiren material. Not bad.

Beautiful timber interior
Termite heaven ?
and not great in bushfire season
great natural lighting though
think i would switch off the rotating part, you could never find your roots with the earth . too disorientating....

It's a cool design, but it's not practical.

hmm untreated wood?
I wonder how they deal with bora (spelling sucks) and stuff
and get it non-rotting.. must be the type of wood used I guess? .. Or is there some natural solution?
