  • I love Johnny Smith; so much so I took lessons from him at his studio here in Colorado Springs in the 1960's. What a blast! He has perfect pitch...and he proved it at one lesson. Amazing!

  • In the 1950's we were on the road most every weekend. A radio station w-w-L out of New Orleans "Moonglow with Martin" I believe was from the Ambassador Hotel. We could pick that station up in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. It was always so great to follow that station and the selections. That was the first time I heard Johnny Smith (1954?). He was the greatest. To reminisce those nights is nothing less that breath taking.

  • Yes, the melody is based on music composed by Alexander Borodin, in this case, the "Gliding Dance of the Maidens" from the Polovtsian Dances.
