How did I miss this? May? Good grief. This is sublime Jim, one of my fav Bob songs. By the way how in God's name can u remember the lyrics? My biggest downfall is trying to remember lyrics.
Love you cover !! Nice work there ! Please listen to my cover and tell me what you think ! Is subscribed your channel for more, hope you do the same !! Greetings.
Great job. Been through your lessons for "don't think twice" and "girl from the north country". This is next on the to learn list. Finger style has never made more sense mainly thanks to your great teaching style. Keep up the good work.
@Sheepydavis The chord I think you refer to (D7) is played for the 1st time at 00:26 - "If tomorrow (D7) wasn't such a long (G) time" using my thumb to fret the 6th string at the 2nd fret. The other fretted notes are 2nd on the 3rd string, 1st on the 2nd string and 3rd on the 1st string. Good luck!
@Sheepydavis Yes - a Lee Oskar (Tombo) diatonic harp in Bb. They are excellent value for money and I can certainly recommend them. Always glad to help and answer any questions.
Huge Walking Dead fan so I am just becomming familiar with this song. This cover is fantastic. Would it be horrible to say I liked it better than Dylans?? Great Job.
Bless you for your very flattering comment. This is a very beautiful song (among many, many fabulous Dylan songs) and I certainly don't think it a horrible thing to say; music appreciation is a wonderful human gift we can all enjoy in our individual ways. My personal stance is that only Dylan captures the real magic of Dylan songs. However, I have been privileged to hear first-hand some wonderful interpretations of his songs from a number of performers.
I concur with the commentor who stated your playing is like "running water in summertime". Your heart and deep presence flow through this gorgeous song in such a moving way. Absolutely beautiful.
Man I want to learn this song so bad. And if you're going off the witmark demos (but I believe you're using the side b of the record) you could technically play both seven curses and this because it the same musically just different musically. This also applies to talkin' John Bercher paranoid blues and talkin' world war III blues. The same musically for that pair as well
Mate your so talanted, Is I glad I came across a true folkman like you, your singing and giutar playing is like running water in the summertime, THE WARMTH THAT COMES ACROSS, from your performance is brillant, you got a new fan Mate, Cheers The Makem Folk Singer,
Thanks Jim, yes of course it is .. as in your equally excellent version of GFNC. They're not a patch on yours, but I' can play a passable version of both now. I'm stiil working on the C-D-C transition in the Tomorrow chorus though. I'm lifitng off the 2nd string first fret in the C chord, and 3rd string 2nd fret in the D. But your version is that little more subtle. Keep it up, I really enjoy your work.
Hi Jim, great song, great interpretation. I can't figure out one of your chords though. It looks like a basic C shape with the little finger on the 1st, 3rd fret, and the thumb covering the sixth, 2nd fret. It doesn't sound right though .. or maybe that's just me!
Sorry for the delay in replying (had to get myself another computer!) - it's actually a D7, though the 1st string doesn't get picked. Good luck with this great song.
@Lowdenjim when you got time, check out my original songs, I'm song-writter and singer too, I made few songs, "Wherever you go, my friend, Hard To Handle, Bulletstorm Blues and Sweet Dignity" and I'm working a lot in new songs, soon I'll be posting new original songs. Thanks sir.
Time is one thing I seem to be very short of these days; this Youtube "hobby" is turning into a full-time job! I will certainly listen in to your songs though; I so wish I could write my own songs......
hi jim , just wanted to thank you , you really opened up a hole new playing style for me which i always loved listening to , but never really comprehended how to play it on guitar.
so tnx!
will it be rude to ask if you could upload a lesson on playing bert jansch style? something like "angie"?
You are most welcome - thank you for your kind words. I'm not familiar with Bert Jansch's version of "Angie" but there is a very comprehensive set of videos (Parts 1 - 10) here on Youtube by "semicolonkid". Good luck with it!
If this is simple then please keep it simple. Jim, that was so gorgeous. Not a dry eye in the house. Your voice loves this register. This is my number one from your repertoire and will be added to my list to learn. Thanks so much.
Tony - thank you again for listening in and your support; very good luck with learning this one - it's a beautiful song and certainly another one of my favourite BD songs.
Jim, I love your adoration and works of art at the altar of Bob and we minions are trying to touch Bob by proxy through the altar of LowdenJim and we fans of Jim very nearly reach the rainbow in the sky .............................
Thank you - the picking is very similar (though easier to play) to "Don't Think Twice"; the main difference is that the Bass strings picked are always 6th and 4th. I'll try to find time to do a "How to" on this song as well though.
