Just because you and me fish for the mystery of carp doesn't mean that everybody should feel the same way. In many waters in the us, there have been a big decline in trout and bass stocks due to carp. Just give them time, and they will realize its one of the best sportfish out there.
I don't like hicks sparefishing many 30 pound carp, to die a slow death. Just because fish doesent have the capacity to feel pain, doesn't mean they should be treated bad.
A large study comparing the nervous systems and responses of fish and mammals has found that fishes brains are not sufficiently developed to allow them to sense pain or fear. Fish lack the neocortex region wich is necessary for the sensation of pain. Even before this study i was shure from my own experience fish didnt feel pain. I wouldnt have fished otherwise.

my cousin was at rainbow lakes fishing with a m8 of his by the name of o'neil when they o'neil cought a record fish this was a couple years ago it was 82lb 04oz i cant remeber the fishis name off the top of my head but the record was broken shortly after that if i remember right it may of be hours later both fish where in the papers at the same time

Can anyone believe we are nearing a 100lb carp? Yes the world record carp is over 20 stone and caught from Thailand i know but im on about normal mirrors and commons, not continenal different species. My god im hoping to maybe if im lucky hit into a few high doubles and maybe a 20 over the next few days. 100lb carp lol someone gona have one those soon and to me thats just rediculous.
They're called Barbules, Carp have them along with many other species to sense items of food. It's called a Mirror Carp, hence the reason it has very few scales which I assume lead you to believe it's a Catfish. Google Mirror Carp. ;)
just to add to my comment below, this is the first time i have heard of this person holding the world record where on the other hand i have seen Rob Hales on Carp TV in Total Carp and Carp Talk.
this cant be true because in this months total carp magazine, on page 12 it shows a man called Rob Hales who has also caught a world record from Rainbow Lake in france weighing in at 91lbs. so what are we to belive?

huge fish like this do look smaller in pictures coz not many people can get them up to a 'suitible' level for e picture that shows off the true size of the fish!
I know for sure by log books and other documentation from lakes around the world. Carp can live and do live to 60 years plus. Many lakes in england have carp 50 years old including redmire.

Its not at all essential for all animals in the animal kingdom to feel "pain"..
The science is concluded about many simple animals lack of ability to feel pain and suffering.
The sciece is not totally concluded yet about fishes reactions though.

@thechunk and you're argument that their lips feel no pain because the skin is tougher is equally as stupid, think about how the skin on your hands is thicker, this makes them less sensitive to scrapes and abrasion, it still fucking kills if you actually pierce the skin, say with a blade..... or even a barbless hook

@thechunk too many people think we are somehow totally different to animals, just because we look so different to fish our bodies and brains operate on a very similar basic nervous system, with nerve endings all over the body concentrated in sensitive areas to detect feeling such as temperature taste pressure etc. If the fish has a hook in its lip believe me it knows about it, what would you call that if not pain?

my cousin was at rainbow lakes fishing with a m8 of his by the name of o'neil when they o'neil cought a record fish this was a couple years ago it was 82lb 04oz i cant remeber the fishis name off the top of my head but the record was broken shortly after that if i remember right it may of be hours later both fish where in the papers at the same time

Can anyone believe we are nearing a 100lb carp? Yes the world record carp is over 20 stone and caught from Thailand i know but im on about normal mirrors and commons, not continenal different species. My god im hoping to maybe if im lucky hit into a few high doubles and maybe a 20 over the next few days. 100lb carp lol someone gona have one those soon and to me thats just rediculous.

They're called Barbules, Carp have them along with many other species to sense items of food. It's called a Mirror Carp, hence the reason it has very few scales which I assume lead you to believe it's a Catfish. Google Mirror Carp. ;)

I know for sure by log books and other documentation from lakes around the world. Carp can live and do live to 60 years plus. Many lakes in england have carp 50 years old including redmire.
