Property seizures against the losing side of a revolution or rebellion have been pretty standard through history. But I think the new republic functioned much better without George's tyranny. But it also brings up the point that the British invaded Ireland and so the land is originally Irish, so the Nationalists are somewhat justified in trying to get them out of Ireland.
