  • Go get yourself a Sunray probe for your MXT. I got one and was blown away on the improvement over the white's bullseye.

  • that nut went to the body of a swamp cooler

  • Great video, thanks for posting it.

  • I wouldn't have even bothered posting this, simply because you were just digging up junk!

  • I too have an MXT. It may have more bells and whistles than a beginner need. BUT, been working with a friend that has years behind him metal detecting. His simple Fisher and his experience out digs, and finds me every day. I have learned to tune my MXT to parallel his detector. Turn the Discrimination all the way up and you will find almost nothing but coins, and silver rings. No gold though and few nickels, but this is a good learning point. Today was my best day, all coins and no junk

  • One thing about junky spots--somewhere in there hasgot to be a few keepers! Good luck!

  • Thanks for the video! I just bought my first detector today.

  • must be a junk detector. hmmm?

  • @ggabe005 Nah there is experience and knowing ur device in this hobby.Skills :P

  • No hazardous wastes accepted XD

  • Hey, Nice video. It's like some of my hunts. Trash trash everywhere.....

    HH

  • It's easy to swing the coil too quickly when there's a lot of ground to cover. Try picking a small area, say 20 feet square and covering it thouroughly.Concentrate on every signal, you should dig everything above iron.I'm speaking from experience, been detecting for about 20 years. Thanks for the video.

  • Nice job on the video..we always have our good days & bad days.

  • Try raising the coil and sizing with pinpoint from a higher point above the ground. Trashy sites are difficult, but can be productive because others give up! Try "stringing off" a 4 foot by 20 foot section by a sidewalk or on the edge by the tall grass, and dig literally every solid signal faint or otherwise, and remember where you did this. Then grid the section again from all different directions. This will "unmask" the goodies underneath! Hope this helps and good hunting!

  • Also, mode on "Coins&Jewelry," Threshold set just above "silent" with just a little bit of 'hum' so you can hear those really deep coins below the junk (smooth, solid in two directions, but faint). No "overloads." Also, when you find a target, swing the coil again 90 deg. to the first 2 swings...it should hit solid pretty much in all angles, in both directions of the swing if it's not junk. Also, Try using your pinpoint trigger to "size" the target, and try a sniper coil with gain high!

  • Sounds like it might be a good site but trashy; use some descrim.(maybe 3,4 or 5)or if you need to, as high as "pulltab." You may lose a little bit of depth, but if you're in trashy areas, you spend less time "pulling poo." Junky sites are tough! Try backing off on gain a little too if it gets really trashy, so the detector isn't unstable, or picking up all the trash. Some chirps are ok, but not chirping through every swing. Slow your swing way down, overlap ea. swing by 50-75% and listen!

  • Keep on huntin, you can't get the good stuff all of the time but sometimes you can get some great stuff for the trashiest spots.

  • I plan on returning to this spot soon, despite the winter weather coming in. Unfortunately, my video camera stopped working. :(

  • @TreasureFiend Great detector, finds a lot of junk, Or maybe it's YOU

  • @TreasureFiend Never had a Whites that was any good 30 years to NOW

  • Nice video, it shows the harsh reality most of us face. Not all of us can get gold rings and silver coins all the time!

If you chose the older section of the park in order to find the older coins, try slowing your sweep speed a bit. I understand how frustrating the trash can be, but you'll miss alot of deeper coins when you move quickly like that. Good luck!

  • Thanks for watching! I will take your advice and slow down my swing a bit in the trashy areas. When the budget allows I'm going to buy a couple more coils. Maybe the smaller 4x6 and also a Super 12.
