We are so lucky we have this on our doorstep I live locally. I once did a murder mystery night on the SVR we picked the punters up in Bewdley then did the round trip between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster everything had to be done twice! The best part was when the train crew came for their dinner having parked us up on the viaduct over the Severn! We just managed to bump the last victim off before we reached Bridgnorth. And solve the mystery.
two enthusiastic thumbs up.....and to those with their thumbs down, get a LIFE.!!
In North America one has to travel many hundreds of miles to find steam trains and from this side of the Atlantic I applaud all of you in the preservation movement and those who record it for us to see. THANK YOU
This is excellent acw71000 I have an HD camcorder too, and you have obviously taken great care to film these wonderful trains, it makes a lot of difference if the films are taken well. Thank you for your efforts :-) John
Yes, indeed it is, I can play them on my TV with a special box called Western Digital HD Media Player, and they look amazing, especially the Steam trains. I live in Brighton, but there doesn't seem to be any visits by railway steam engines here nowadays, although Brighton used to have a large engine building shed years ago, of course the A1 peppercorn "Tornado" is amazing thinking it's brand new isn't it? I look for the HD films of it on You Tube, and from you too! John
Another fine set of shots Austin. SVR is a great setting. One of many occassions I am going to miss this year (due to illness) so thanks for sharing and giving me a steam fix. Keep it up please. Chris
I definitely agree there. it's a great way of keeping up to date with happenings, as there's always someone filiming anything that happens, it seems. (Even if HD never works for me, but please, no need to feel sorry for me.) :-(.
Nice whistle solo by Sir Nigel's driver there, too.
Excellent footage of a great event - a small tip if I may is when panning as the loco passes I prefer to drop the camera on to the vavle gear rather than the running plate. I feel it gives the viewer something to 'focus on especially if it's a fast pan. Brilliant work all the same though!
Excellent coverage of what looks like a great Gala Austin, well chosen locations, combined with the HD giving a memorable set of sequences...Thanks Bob and 5*+
Thanks Bob, it was a great day, the SVR always put on a good show as you know. I was sorry I was unable to stay over to try some other locations, but there is always next time.
Fantastic footage Austin, Superb stuff... Really upset i missed the event now, man flu managed to get the better of me! :( But never mind, there will be other times ;)
Thanks Simon, bad luck with the flu, hopw you are feling a bit better, I was looking forward to seeing your footage. As you say another gala will be along soon.
A great combination of different locos. Nunney Castle looked pretty authentic at the begging, hauling vintaged stock despite facing tender-first! 60007 and 70013 seemed to something to whistle about! Ideal spots you choose too. Nice one Austin.
Thanks Ryan, I thought I would try something a little different as I have taken a lot ot of shots at other SVR locations down the years but not much around Arley.
Marvellous shots there. Do you hold a lineside pass for the SVR? Just wondering!
RASDV 5 months ago
Thank you. It is not possible to get many of the shots included in the video without a lineside pass

Thank you, I think there is something about HD that makes you more careful when filming as every little blemish is exagerated

I just love to see an A4 turning out with that rake of vintage LNER coaches (well, all except the one on the end). Where are they normally kept?

They are based at the Severn Valley
