While intoxicating - this scene is dated. The dialogue shows pathetic souls craving happiness, but they are not willing to do the work to get it. Wow, so 50s in its soul searching but little answers provide solace for the audience. That's why this is such an intriguing film. Many layers to the characters; we want to look away but can't: the mark of great art, or film - in this case.
