as for the po box address...in order for aetna to update the po box address they would need the physical address on file first and then they could update the mailing address...im not in any way defending the insurance company...i just know how it works...and im sorry about your friends...it's business before pleasure in this country...VOTE OBAMA!

He actually voted for Obama. He did reapply physically and the girl was hired as a temp and didn't know too much. He needs to get on the phone in the day, however, he lives in excruciating pain which I can vouch for and he falls asleep around 4 a.m. when he is so exhausted. When you are in pain, and I know this because of my injury you don't want to be bothered with phone calls, and I think they know this.  If someone is elderly it is hard also. I helped his mom who has a hard time seeing.

aetna does not have anything to do with social security disability...he is being subsidized by social security which is called lics (low income subsidy) which he would need to re-apply for it every year...sometimes ss does not make you re-apply but you are supposed to every year... but aetna has nothing to do with the subsidy with ss...ss updates the lics information with medicare and then medicare would update aetna's systems to show the lics...

Audrey, literally just got off the phone from Medicare because she lost one of her checks. They told her she was being reported to the Treasury and shouldn't have received that money and needs to pay back other money. She has only cashed one check for $1,000. and the back check was less than she should have received for only $4,800.

Well, the next day we called social security again and I explained everything to the woman and then Adrey had to get on the phone. They are going to cancel that check and reissue another one. She had to report it to the local police which she did. So, I guess sometimes they just hope you give up. She didn't. I wouldn't let her accept that answer. Thanks for your concern.

Has your friend managed to get through to the insurance company yet? I'm sorry, I don't know your area very well, is it very far away? How much would a cab cost? Please excuse the question if it's dumb, I really have no idea of the distances involved and I'd like to have a cleared idea of just how rotten the company is being. He did get a ride. They were really rude to him and the girl that was there said she is only temporary . It has been a month and he still doesn't have healthcare benefits. He keeps getting a runaround. Maybe, he should contact Governor Ed Rendell's office or the ADA. Where he lives, there aren't cabs. One way is 1 hour.

Sounds like the private sector has a monopoly in your country. The two can exist, but when private is the only option, no surprise they can get away with highway robbery, no competition, which is anti-freemarket.

That is exactly true. Insurance companies are big business here as well as pharmaceutical companies. There is a lot of stock in both of these as well.

I saw an interview with Michael Moore and the insurance companies gave the congress, shall we say, "fringe benefits." They are big lobbyists. I thank you that you think I am inspiring. I'm trying to do everything I can.

This is an issue that has been festering and waiting for someone to bring it into the light. I just hope that this doesn't get forgotten come election time. But as you mention, lobbyists rule the roost and people need to say, enough.

I just wrote a letter to my congressman, urging him to improve our health system, and I haven't lived in the US for 4 years (though still a US citizen). If I can do something, so can you. If you walk out Sicko hoping that you'll get better health care, but then do nothing, then you will have wasted the momentum created by this film. You must act now if you want change!
