    anyone have this tabs?

  • The first brass slides came from the old steel-wheeled tractors. It was one of the driveline bearings (I think in axles). Anyway, they were salvaged by enterprising young black musicians, such as James Cotton. Robert Johnson used one and the bottle, of course. The backwoods clubs were so noisy with patrons that the slide acted as an natural amplifier. Let the highs really cut through. Fittingly, it became a beautiful, haunting and immortal sound that would come to define the blues of the '20's

  • Wow...I adore your job man! It's really sincere to hear it! What kind of slide did you use while you were recording this?

  • Superb!

  • it looks so strange ^^

and how does it work ? :p

  • instead of pressing the notes (sorry bad english) you use the bottelneck to slide over them it's a hard technique to master bud as you hear very nice to listen to.

  • but i didn`t get yet how the chords are played when he slides over the strings ...

    thx for your reply ;)

  • maybe with the right hand ? ;-D

  • the guitar is in open G tuning: D G D G B D Thats why he makes chords from sliding the bottleneck.

  • aah okay i understand ^^

    thx a lot

  • what is that for a thing around then little finger? does it make that sound so cool ?

  • it's called a bottle neck ,and yes it makes it sound so cool

    great work btw

  • I actually it's called a guitar slide, but you can use a bottle's neck as as a slide, as some musicians do.

  • to be correct ;)

  • Originally, they used a bottle-neck. So some people refer to it as bottle-neck. But it pretty much has become a "Guitar slide" . Prefer the name bottle neck, sounds much cooler

  • tottaly agree on this one

  • sounds more blues anyway

  • Captain Beefheart do that don't they or am I quite mad... was their's the original or is it older? xXx

  • HAHA! Robert Johnson!

  • But Robert Johnson's 'Walking Blues' sounds nothing like this. watch?v=hCSPf5Viwd0 it is far clearer in that xXx

  • I think the Capt.B.Heart song your talking about is "Sure Nuff N Yes I Do" which is very similar.....

  • that my friend was the blues! nice job

  • man.. if i wasnt 4 robert johnson we wouldnt have this type of music

  • great lesson thank you

  • You should sing on Walking Blues

  • mcblah, allthough you corrected yourself, your stupidity sickens me. also, the white stripes totally mutilated that song. it should only EVER be played by one man, and he is dead now.

  • Son House first recorded that as 'My Black Mama' with that riff,...Robert Johnson did his take on it and called it Walking blues.. Son house did other versions of walking blues that are totally different as well.

  • Opinions are like @ssh0les, everyone has one... and it is best to keep yours to yourself.

  • lol, please get over yourself. i'm sure you weren't around when Son House was recording either, furthermore i'm sure you discovered blues through modern recordings one way or another. Music like this comes only through a path of discovery, it's got nothing to do with stupidity. Your arrogance, however, is a sure sign of it.

  • my mistake. the white stripes version is a cover of Sun House's original.

  • Hey! a youngsta learned sumthin!!!

  • Listen to the song "Death Letter" by the White Stripes. It's almost this exact slide riff. Nice little coincidence i guess.

  • How can I get more of this?wow

  • Try searching 'slide blues' mate. A guy called Jesseblues plays some great slide guitar and has a tuition video to play CrossRoads by Robert Johnson. You could search 'JesseBlues' too. Brendan

  • hay man thanx for that.

  • He's playing a Son House tune in open G tuning.

Ain't no heaven, ain't no burnin' hell. Where I go when I die can't nobody tell.

  • i've learnt it and i love it. where now?

  • sounds like open g tuning to me

  • Really good. Are you in standred tune or open something

  • ... and it's just that easy. lol

  • kool! regards bluespower

  • This is really cool. The guy can play well, definetly worth watching if you're interested in Blues, slide-guitar, Robert Johnson, Son House or any other delta blues player.

  • Très bonne vidéo pédagogique bien réalisé par un très bon artiste francais, je l'ai vu en concert a de multiples reprises très chouette !
