  • Well said. Like your approach.

  • To retouch or not to retouch, that is the question.

  • Really enjoying your videos. Love the cane decoration! Speaks to me of the need to be flexible, just my view>. Anyway thanks for sharing

  • You are a fantastic teacher. Please keep them coming!

  • Sometimes when you mess with it that's exactly what it turns into, a mess!!! So your so right, once you finish the stroke that's it!!

Warm regards from Debbie in Florida

  • I am glad to know that I am not the only one that hears pots speak! :)

  • As always Simon, I got a lot out of this clip. I spend so much time watching your videos that sometimes I forget to do my assignments for school. You always explain things so clearly that you have really helped me to grow in my knowledge of pottery. I'm subscribed to your feed, but every day I go back to videos you made long before I found your site. Keep filming- you really are helping a lot of people and you are appreciated.

  • Simon, Thx so much for your thoughts on decoration. Restraint and Repetoire of designs are good keywords. I've messed up many a pot w/ sloppy decoration. Request for clips: Lids - all types - I cannot make a decent lidded pot.

  • I feel the same way and do the same thing. It is nice to see someone of your background, fame, whatever...do it the same way I do it. Makes me fell like I'm doing it right. Thanks for all your videos, they are a tremendous resource!

  • Sometimes when i'm thinking about decorating a pot, i definately get my "nickers in a twist". I should learn to relax. Great video's thanks.

  • Hi again Simon. I was wondering if you had any post-firing examples of these oxide decorations that you might show?

  • i like the way you think

  • What should I look for in a decorating brush? I have a hard time getting clean lines when decorating my pots. I have really enjoyed watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on pottery! I have learned so much already.

  • Hi Carol - hope thats your name !

Decorating brush ? well I use japanese brushes - its all down to what kind of decorating / finish you are trying to achieve. A few tips ....make sure the pot is not 'powdery' from rubbed glaze.Have enough water mixed in with your oxide so it 'flows' off the brush onto the pot.Use a banding wheel for banding & spin it fast enough.

    Hope that helps !?

    Simon leach

  • That last decoration really accentuates the wonderful roundness of that pot.

  • excellent! thanks for the videos-they are all great fun to watch and learn from.
