It's been a while since I worked with the old Schäferhund, but I found the Koehler method of guard dog training book quite useful. He trained war dogs and the Disney dogs.

The Breeder/Broker I purchased him from had both his parent shipped from Germany and all of his initial training before I received him was all based on German commands. This also assist in him not mis-understanding a command from a word used commonly during conversations in english.

Adam,,looks like your foundation work is going well. Keep the tug busy and active for a few seconds before stopping for the rebite. Im gonna shhot you an email with a few more ways to keep the foundation strong untill you find a good club/trainer.
