West Coast offense can be run out of different derivitives, the basic rules are timing based passing, take what the defense gives, distribute the ball to all skill players. So a shotgun can be used as long as those rules are employed it is some kind of WCO.
when i think of westcoast offense i think of always having a 2 back formation, tight end and two receivers. going pro i, split pro, far and near pro, and sometimes singleback. the west coast harldy ever went in shotgun. u watch bill walshes offense with montana, never in shotgun.
Yea haha you're right too many concepts that's why Coach Logan is the all-time winningest coach in East Carolina University's history. Although his overall record wasn't the greatest; 69-58, he led the Pirates to two bowl wins and five bowl appearances. And is now the running backs coach for Tampa Bay. Fairly respectable.
Great coaching tips! Very useful thanks!

Bill Walsh hated the shotgun because the QB's eyes will be on the ball so he can catch the snap
Bill Walsh wanted his QB's eyes on the defense
Watch clips of Joe under center...when he gets the snap his head is always up and scanning the D when getting the snap from under center

yeah i know! you dont see any teams like that any more. i think every team in the nfl has at least a couple shotgun plays and formations.
i think the last team i saw that actually ran a west coast offense and didnt go shotgun was the seahawks, the year they went to the super bowl.

@BigHitter503 keep in mind though that we had a ridiculous rushing game that year on top of our passing game. Plus our center was a beast!

NO, I have Coach in front of my name to give my players their best chance for success...
This idea has too many concepts to focus on to be successful. What if the Will Linebacker doesn't line up in that spot?
What if the Will fakes the blitz and the E drops into the alley or the flat?
You assume too little and expect too much....
Just my take...

Oooh. Can I play who-has-the-chalk-last too?
Give me a break. "Coach," you lose credibility when you play that game.
Just my take...
