  • love radiohead but i'm not feeling this version at all

  • pink floyd still remains pink floyd <3 no one can better them

  • Wish you were here, Mark.

  • Whoever sang this like this deserves to be slapped.

  • I love the argument going on here from people who clearly dont know what they're talking about shut the fuck up and stop making me angry youtube.

  • Its somewhat lacking in the voice which seems too leaden or not as robust as the orginal? Ah well .

  • I prefer the circa survive version of this song but this pretty good too

  • This is gonna be played at my funeral.

  • @MCRXoXoIeroWay Get the Pink Floyd version to play instead.

  • What album is this from?

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome,.. I couldn't explain what I feel for this song...

  • This is not Thom Yorke..

  • @FolkeBernadotte Yes it is. I am well acquainted with the voices of both; Thom, and Mark. This is Thom Yorke.

  • Better than the original :')

  • @EmployeesAreJerks

nah man its no where near the original but this is an excellent cover and i love it

  • lords of dogtown!

  • Thank you.

  • With all due respect for Radiohead. It is a profanation of the music of Pink Floyd.

  • thom yorke confirms that he is the singer of this cover.

  • great song! also this cover...

  • Definitely not Thom Yorke singing. i could see Edd hiting those reverse notes though.

  • Ok I am a little comfused here... Who wrote this cover of Pink Floyd?Radiohead?Thom York also sings here?

  • in reply to the "top comments," first, the musician who committed suicide was Mark Linkous; sparklehorse was his band, and the rest of the members are (to the best of my knowledge) very much alive.

Both Yorke and Linkous sang on this track. Yorke did in fact contribute his portion via telephone.

  • This is definitely not Thom Yorke singing. If you listened to anything other than "Creep" i think it's pretty obvious.

  • The 2 top comments contradict each other. WHO DO I TRUST?!

  • @gojiraindahhood neither just love that music bro, who cares? well... don't answer that but still its a good cover

  • Is this the version that's on the adverts for Southland on E4 in the UK?

  • @revenwonk Yes, it is. Amazing isn't it?

  • The original is still probably better, but the feeling and atmosphere of this song is amazing. I just put my headphones on, close my eyes and I'm lost in the sound.

  • I enjoyed this :)

  • Thumbs up for Lords of Dogtown.

  • This is Mark Linkous(Sparklehorse) featuring Thom Yorke for the "Lords Of DogTown" Soundtrack. 2005. ( Thom Yorke sang his part on the telephone from his hotel room where you can hear his TV in the background).

  • 84 people hear'd the pink floyd version before this.

  • @NeCRySWeetVenoM woah woah woah, pink floyds version is better then this will EVER be. this version may be amazing but pink floyds is WAY better.

  • @AubreeLikesWaffles That's the i'm try to say. I disliked this video, and i love Pink Floyd performance.

  • @NeCRySWeetVenoM ohohohohoh, my bad! xP i thought you were saying that you thought this one was way better, but yeah sorry :P

  • @xlaleclx dude, umm......you realize the lyrics go "did you exchange, a walk on part in the war, for a LEAD ROLE IN A CAGE" not "for a negro in a cage" Maybe YOU should check the lyrics before you butcher them =D

  • I really liked this cover!

It is sadder than the original, in my opinion!

Radiohead is good at playing sad songs :)

  • This song is so beautiful in every way possible, it somehow brings tears to my eyes..

  • "For a Negro in a cage" They should have looked up the lyrics before doing a cover.

  • @xlaleclx what are you talking about?

    he doesent say that

  • I've always doubted if Thom Yorke actually sang in this song. Because I think it does sound like Mark Linkous singing, I don't know, maybe it's the vinyl sound effect

probably because Thom and Mark's voice are somewhat similar. RIP Mark..

  • amo esta canciOn! ♥

  • no way is this thom yorke singing it sounds like mark no?

  • @OldIslandOfficial this is actually mark. thom only sings the 'wish you were here' part in the end.

i think the video should be named 'Sparklehorse feat.Radiohead'... well, whatever.

  • The lyrics in this song are so real.

  • best cover of the song , but still not as good as pink floyd's original one

  • Thom Yorke do it

  • This is not Radiohead cover !!

This is not Radiohead cover !!

This is not Radiohead cover !!

This is not Radiohead cover !!

  • Divine

  • thank you radiohead, you bring light to an otherwise shadowy world

  • "Wish You Were Here" originally written and performed by Pink Floyd, this version is performed by Sparklehorse, and sung by Thom Yorke of Radiohead, who contributed vocals via the telephone.

  • @BaldPalamino False !!! Thom Yorke is not there !

  • @sentheband 5:21 and scattered throughout the song

  • @imthefly Thom Yorke had to work on this song, but ultimately did not because of problems since the study was far from where they were going to record. Then decided to record his voice on the phone, but the result was so bad sound and Yorke finally no appeared on the cover.

  • @BaldPalamino who cares. enjoy the music.

  • @BaldPalamino telephone??? hahaha xD great!!!

  • @BaldPalamino via telephone? for reals????? wow!

  • this is so orgasmic

  • Comment removed

  • The is amazing except for the vocals, I wish they were stronger.

  • Insane.

  • This song is so great I first heard it in lords of dogtwon lol

  • Best.

  • were just two lost souls swimming in a fishbowl... god that line hits me everytime.

  • Just to clear everything up,

This song is being sung by sparklehorse, a brilliant musician who sadly killed himself. The instruments are being performed by Jonny Greenwood, Phil Selway, And the rest of radiohead. For whatever reason Thom yorke refused to do this.

  • @maketimmycry Maybe Thom Yorke didn't refuse to do it. He could've written the song and just not sang.

  • @bradenls0 It's a cover...

  • @maketimmycry this is wrong. thom does some wailing on this song in the background. and he did it through the telephone.

  • @dasher1982 No he's singing, and you hear snippets from his television in the background.

  • @maketimmycry are you high? Thom Yorke clearly sings...

  • @maketimmycry Youre wrong friend, this came out in 1997on the EMI release "Essential Interpretations" played by Sparklehorse and sung by Thom Yorke over the telephone from his hotel room. Its all in the album notes

  • can someone please tell me if you also hear the voices in spanish in the middle of the songs.. anybody knows why those voices show up therE???

  • sometime when you hear songs you hear different words in the lyrics than what they actually are, then you look up the lyrics to it.

  • Comment removed

  • but i want to hear thom sing it

  • Yes, a fake cover is exactly what i wanted to see

  • Yes, fake a fake cover is exactly i wanted to see...

  • 75 people were't wished here.

  • i play drums and never played piano, but this song makes me want to learn this on piano

  • i know this has been said many times already but it really makes me angry for some reason that this is credited to radiohead rather than sparklehorse

  • oh dear

  • I'm pretty sure it's Sparklehorse Radiohead without Thom because he refused to do it for some reason and tbh who cares it's a good cover just not as good as floyd.

  • These are not Radiohead!!nor Thom Yorke!

  • miyvars :)))

  • dear people who said thom yorke not radio head. big fucking difference

  • blue skys from rain? WHAT THE FUCK?

  • @jayson201 wat?

  • @jayson201 Yeah, it's not the original lyric. But it does make more sense in a way. It's sort of like Trent Reznor's "crown of shit" vs Cash's "crown of thorns." Both work, because both were going for different vibes.

  • So grim... but beautiful at the same time.

  • Best Wish you were here's cover!!!

  • This is absolute SHIT!!

  • Both of them are pretty good the original and this one!! deff different but good

  • sborro.

  • i miss mark more than syd actually

  • Much inferior to the original but tolerable to my ears.

  • what album is this on

  • IN FACT PRETTY SHIT.

  • I miss so much when I hear this...

  • Gorgeous cover..... wow

  • song Wish You Were Here?

The most psychedelic music of all time.

  • @evertonmadrugaful it's not even in the top 10 of the most psychedelic songs of Pink Floyd...

  • @marceloscoelho Well, this Pink Floyd song was created in a progressive phase of the band .. . but depends on individual taste...

  • Jair on 18 .04 . 2011 its gonna be 7 years since you left this world

7 years since the horror get into my life

7 years since my life change completly

7 years since I wake up I dont know Who I am

where I am or why I'm here...

7 years since all faces passed and no one its different...

man I MISS YOU. I MISS YOU SO MUCH..IT HURTs..I SWEAR IT HURTS...

7 years since the pain arrives and till today continues...

GOD TELL ME WHY I JUST WANNA KNOW, PLEASE...Why?

  • I wish you were here Mark,MTV won't miss you. But I will...

  • Let me update that; Rick Wright as well, how could I forget you.

  • Miss you Brayden. Syd Barrett as well, wish you were here.

  • @Jaketacular420 who is brayden?

  • @nirvana6daniel oh ok, that makes sense now. I've only seen it like once, so I don't remember.

  • @tigereyejewel: the best cover of "Have a Cigar"...check out les claypool's version--and for Foo Fighter's, their best cover is "Baker Street"--enjoy those two nuggets!!

  • I wish 63 people not were here :D

  • @varoist amen :D

  • its a good cover, not many people can cover pink floyd... and do it well, or at least worthy of me to listen, this is one band who can, and i don't know why dave grohl does a good job but he does a good cover of have a cigar, but i suppose foo fighters are a good band.

  • Great cover!! But a bit too slow.... Anyone agree?? Or is it just me?!

  • Even though I'm a huge fan of both Pink Floyd, I still enjoy this song. I think its a great cover song, But the original is better to me because you can hardly beat the original band that sang this song and how many people it has moved. None the less, this song is still excellent to listen too.

  • Definitely not as good as pink floyd, but damn good cover.

  • sorry but no one can cover floyd

  • love this version !

  • This cover makes me think of "Lords of dogtown".. very moving!

  • @Skyum123 MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE!

  • oh my god, first time i hear this song, it's not finishes yet, and i can already say it's AMAZING!!

    so moving...

  • @Simpsonito18 That's how I felt after hearing the Pink Floyd version for the first time a couple years ago. You should check that one out as well.

  • @mavs2147 i meant, the first time i hear this version of the song. I already knew this song, just didn't realized of it during the intro :P

  • @Simpsonito18 Oh ok.

  • @Simpsonito18 please listen to the original it is much better

  • @LordofMyOwnMind it definetly is. I don't like this guy's voice for this song. But it's a very creative cover, i love it.

  • I liked Miracle Legion's version better, more powerful and compelling performance.

  • wish you were here, mcrib

  • wish you were emily, i miss you.

  • I love Floyd & Radiohead more so but this is a very poor cover. Booo...!!

  • @YoMamaBeenLurkin I think that if this is what they wanted it to sound like, then they have accomplished a great cover. In this case, they did.

  • @YoMamaBeenLurkin i disagree...i think this is a very good cover...is it because the solo isnt exactly the same? or the vocals arent exactly the same?...i dunno i like it because it lets you take a look into how Thom Yorke and the rest of the band perceive music. Thats the point of a cover.

  • @YoMamaBeenLurkin i hardly say its a poor cover it just wasn't for you. its quite a genius adaptation of the orginal.

  • Wish you were here seems to be a song that cannot sound bad. I've liked all covers I've heard so far, some more than others. This is no exception. But, still, i haven't seen any as good as the original

  • Can someone please tell me where Radiohead are on this song? It's a perfect song and I love it, I'm just curious (I'm not trying to be arsey or anything genuinely). Did they compose the structure of the song?

  • @101commentary

The structure has composed by Pink Floyd, they are just covering them

  • it is said that thom sang from the telephone on his hote

  • Awful

  • I never thought of having a piano in this...sounds good. I still think I like the twelve-string better, but it's good. I like how they slowed it down, too. This sounds good at a slower tempo.

  • i just got dine watching the lords of dogtown movie for like the thousandth time and it never doesnt make me sad when i hear this song

  • I actually love this song. I didn't really like it that much at first but all the little touches really got me, and I now I really enjoy it.

  • indeed, Sparklehorse feat. Thom Yorke. Yorke's barely even on it anyway

  • @tomdissonance It was Thoms's idea to do this in the first place, or am I mistaken?

  • @MrTimothyWatts i believe it was EMI's idea, as part of an anniversary compilation where current EMI artists did covers of older EMI artists (i've got it somewhere). i can't find any information on the net about approached who, but i think Linkous approached Yorke to ask him to do backing vox, which he sang down a telephone (the two groups knew each other already as Sparklehorse supported Radiohead in the UK in '96).

  • @tomdissonance Ah I see,the only reason I thought that is because I saw this on a Radiohead B-side album

  • @tomdissonance isnt he singing?

  • isnt the feature backwards? isnt it sparklehorse feat. thom yorke? anywho its a great cover.

  • poor sid :(

  • this is not radiohead... it's sparklehorse w/ thom yorke on a few voices

  • How could you possibly not like this? :)

  • DAVID GILMOUR!!! please! pink floyd! this is bad version of radiohead!

  • This is track 11 from sparklehorse's "Chest Full of Dying Hawks" album.

  • Oh myyyyyyy, this has been on repeat all day. So entrancing

  • ☮a webo☮

  • RIP Mark x

  • people say it doesnt sound like thom yorke... its not him, its the lead singer of sparklehorse

  • @aq1234rfds nooooo..it IS Thom Yorke, check your facts stupid

  • @pklip001 It is so disrespectful that you can say that. It is Mark Linkous please check your facts.

  • @joesere it is actually not you IDIOT,. don't make me come to wherever you are and slap the shit out of you CLOWN

  • @pklip001 LOL you're a funny guy ;)

    a funny, wrong guy.

  • People, the point is not to judge the song or compare, it is to listen and enjoy. This song is truly amazing. RIP- to all those who have gone, but are never forgotten..

  • i dont care if it's shakespeare singing - it's just not very good.

  • @JeffsFunnySongs You posted this to draw attention to yourself by criticizing someone who is still being mourned. Show some respect and drop your pretenses; they show more than you think.

  • @mdvavdm TOM YORK IS DEAD ?? :(

  • @JeffsFunnySongs idiot.

  • @mdvavdm - lots of people are dead. I mean no disrespect, it's awfuly precious of you to make such assumptions of me, i can only repeate.. i gave this a fair and ballanced listen - and was left wanting, i dont want the 7minutes back, i'm glad to have been exposed to another verison of a song i deem to be one of my top 5 favourites ever, this simply wasn't for me. am i aloud to express that? would you rather me have sworn? I'm not fussed no Elvis - it doesn't mean i hate the dead.

  • @JeffsFunnySongs I wasnt aware Shakespeare composed music?
