Assholes we have golfers here in the UK who are just like that. They will never learn what they don`t know is that lightning strikes golf ranges plus they are holding metal clubs hmmm very clever.
@pwnurnoobazz WHAT!?!?!??? Safer?? Safer than WHAT?? Standing on top of a 10 story building?? I really REALLY don't think that is true AT ALL. Where do you get this info?? There is NOTHING safe about being out in a storm. I mean holding a golf club might be "safer" than hugging a huge high-tension wire electrical utility pole that reaches into the sky but NO ONE should be out there like these morons
@scudderb Hey, it's actually true. I will use an analogy. Ok, so do you know what a tesla coil is? It's like this spark maker. There are videos on here that shows a dude holding a pole and touching the arcs. At one point, the arc toufches him directly and his reaction seems more painful. Basically arcing directly to a person wil cause more pain since the current can travel a bit deeper. If it arcs to something else, physics takes over an I will explain in another comment since I am out of space.
@scudderb so basically the "skin effect" takes over. It states that high-frequency currents tend to travel along the outer parts of an electrically continuous item. Thats why this is possible to survive a lightning strike. The current won't travel through you, directly through your heart, but rather round you. Search Arc Attack to see this effect in action. Basically he's partially wrong, it won't prevent it, it will limit it, since it isn't arcing directly to you.
Selfish no good sorry yankee bastards, while lying on the ground after being hit two Paramedics with families at home are going to have to risk it all to save their asses!
Stupid golfers!!! They don't give a s*** of the weather. If they get struck by lightning, the family will sue the golf court because they didn't warn them. GO TO HELL!!!
@gitane1976 actually, golf is the only sport so far with a lightning rule. ps. lightning victims CAN survive- 90% survive, but 70% of those who do suffer long term injuries
And this is why you do NOT screw around outside during a lightning storm. Someone was killed in the next town over just last week!! Search google for coral springs lightning death :-(
@scudderb actually, ouve got the numbers mixed up. Lightning CAN strike 15 miles away from the storms main core, but lightning has been known to span over 75 miles (anvil crawlers).
oookkkkk they don't care about dying then

I think that these players spend a lot of time watching dumb & dumber, getting tips on how to live life.

What's funny is that it's actually safer to hold a golf club during a storm to prevent the lightning from travelling to your vital organs

I hear thunder, I hit the clubhouse, I was under a shelter during a storm once and a bolt hit 20 yrds away. And MORONS were still playing behind us.
strightflush007 2 years ago
If you can hear thunder you are in danger - simple rule.
These guys were very unwise to carry on playing
