  • I always loved the way the song really kicks in around the 00:45 second mark... Explosive bass line ! Get in

  • best SF song imo

  • When this song was made, the Who already made "A Quick One"...

  • Its when I hear songs like this I just look on today's music as just so ordinary, this is genius.

  • 6 people have no one to dream on

  • I fucking hate these cunting ads

  • What a great song. First time I´ve heard it.

  • Wow, must have been a special time in London in the swingin' sixties. The music, the fashion, the mini skirt, and the England football team won a world cup... now that really is amazing!

  • My apologies- it is Morgan. It's the scene immediately after (@1:02) that is from The Knack. Seems a lot of charging around on beds went on in 60s London.

  • R.I.P Steve what a vocal i love you and miss you!xx

  • I saw Steve Marriot live in a little bar in Leeds in about 83. Only held about a hundred people and remember dancing at the front a couple of feet away from him. Then I remember being on my way to work in my car when it came on he was dead a few years later. All the icons are disappearing now but this music will live on.

  • @WillShakespeare2007 Yes me too! It was the Bier Keller that was in the Merrion Centre. I think he was with his then band Packet of 3. Awesome even then. So glad I got to meet him before he died so tragically. RIP Steve

  • When London was English !

  • @slim1146 , YES I know what you`r trying to say, Stockholm has changed to, the countryside is almoust

the same in GB and Sweden

  • Great photo video!

  • ooouh! hay!! :D Long live the 60's!

  • Fab montage of many former English icons of music, fashion, stage and screen. Thank You.

  • One of the ALL TIME best luv songs, thanx guys

  • I don't know why but I always cry when I hear this song

  • @Samuelity1 I do too.

  • St.Mary's in Whitechapel Road.

  • Best song ever

  • won´t you please come out 2 play..

so nice, i shed a tear..

  • The London I remember. Fab track from the Small Faces, always a favourite. What is the odd beach scene down by Tower Bridge at 1.46 or thereabouts? Don't ever recall such goings on...?

  • 'Oh, I got nobody to hold on to, yeah, but I keep on smiling, crying....' story of my life.

  • Mesmirising performance by the coolest band of the day,god bless the Small Faces x

  • whats the picture 1:44?

  • @unamek Its a part of the Revolver Cover by the Beatles.

  • What station is that at 0:26? The one that's "permanently closed"

  • What a brilliant song

  • The days when we ran away to London, to see the 'streets paved with Gold', only to return home, empty handed

  • seems we still had a country then, nearly all gone now thou

  • @edwards21416 yep, !!!

  • bummer those days are gone ,....

Small faces and the Pretty things and all that good stuff way back then ,..

  • Small Faces, huge genius. For me they embody the spirit of the 60's. Inventive, unashamedly different and above all purveyors of bloody catchy tunes.

  • Fan-fucking-tastic montage dude. Reminds me of our trips to The Smoke in the 60s as nippers with our Mam and Dad and all the weird and wonderful people people we'd never fail to see.

  • im only 30 but in love with everything 60s. the music fashion etc, this tune and vid are both excellent, btr days, london has lost its identity now, its hard for londoners to be proud nowdays

  • who's content with what they have?

  • @chippy783 No such state.

  • Why do you Londoners have most of your Tube north of the Thames? In Glasgow, we only have this crappy little thing we call the Clockwork Orange lol!

  • Fab song from the best ever band.

  • Excellent montage! Redgrave, Twiggy, Sellers, Stamp, Shrimpton, Hemmings, Bates, Quant, Beatles, Small Faces, Stones, Mods, Carnaby Street....etc. Ah...those were the days. This Canadian wasn't even there, but I was totally in love with the scene (age 12). My Mom brought back paper dresses from London that year...very cool....

  • I just discovered this band. They're awesome!

  • My favourite song by my favourite band and a f******* great tribute to the Swinging London. Cheers Lory73.

  • I'm in heaven every time i hear this.x

  • Just too good. Thanks for posting. Stevie has the best R and B voice of all time

  • My favorite was Ronnie but Steve had one of the best styles of all time. Thanks guys.

  • this was one of my favorite songs of that year..... such good music.....timeless....

  • This is really well put together.

  • What's the movie with the bed on the tracks??

  • @hazelpanda You mean the picture I put at minute 1:00? That's from "Morgan A Suitable Case For Treatment" with Dave Warner and Vanessa Redgrave.

  • 4 - 3 its getting close

  • Such a soulful singer he was. Id say way ahead of his time. I love this song !!

  • how many times have i listened to this and remembered her

  • Smiling........crying!

  • rip steve marriot

  • One of the things I like about the 60s was it was the end of the last real decade of the industrial generation. Everything was old, and decaying (buildings) but there was a global awareness of change. Great change. didn't turn out so good did it. It's all addictiive crap. Wait until Obama shuts the information highway down or the big solar storm melts our satellite innardsss :P watch all the cell phone yipsters cry and have a fit while the older people sit with a smile on their face.

  • what a voice marriott legend r.i.p

  • This song is so beautiful, i can't listen to it without crying.

  • This song chokes me every time.......Steve Marriots voice is soul incarnate! Long live Mod culture!

  • Absolutely perfect homage to London when it was the centre of the world. One of the Small Faces best B sides.

  • I love I love I love it's the best song of the small faces

  • I SAW ONE OF MY FAVORITE ACTORS!!!!!!!!!!

    David Warner [=

  • The best song of The Small Faces

  • @mealys I like Itchycoo Park but this is a really close second. What a great band.

  • ads fab, wish I was there then,

  • Very good selection of pictures - very worthy for a great band

  • cool video man.

  • the best fuckin band in the sixties

  • Awesome,a song most bands spend their entire careers searching for but never find.

    RIP Ronnie and Steve.

  • Awesome,a song most bands spend their entire careers searching for but never find.

    RIP Ronnie and Steve.

  • Love it

    5*********

    Terry

  • Incredible b side, should have been a single as most Small Faces fans will agree.R.IP. Steve and Ronnie, the driving force.

  • very nice Video work

    for Steve

    Thank You

  • This song is pure genius and the video clip montage is incredible! Many thanks! :-)

  • Some brilliant imagery there, well done.

As I remember it, my London.

  • arthur lee is another amazing artist from 60s who doesnt get his dues!!!!

  • It's got the same guitar intro as Cat Stevens' version of The First Cut is the Deepest.

  • Thank yoyu for this posting. I am a SF devotee from their inception. I have never heard this song before. It is certainly not a classic, but Steve was one of the best vocalists on the planet. I had the honour of meeting Steve and sharing a joint with him. In spite of his flambouyant stage personality, he was an utterly nice unassuming guy. Complete absence of ego. A real quality human being. I used to be a guitarist. I also had the honour of supporting Peter Green and FW. Another true gentle-man

  • Haven't heard this for years. Fantastic.

  • Great song, one of the best B-sides ever maybe?

The greatest compliment you can pay any white singer is to say that they sound black, and that's certainly true of Marriott.

  • WTF?

  • steve marriot is the one and only!!! he mastered his own voice............

  • I love your stuff Lory..Many thanks x

  • i wouldn't exactly say that plant wishes he could sound like stevie because their energy is different when they sing and they are transmitting different emotions or at least i feel it this way.. ;D aand i like them both a lot ^^

  • Well... a great song and a great video. BUT the picture at 0:58 is just crap. They CHEATED!

Anyway, I love the Small Faces :)

  • Perhaps what it means to you is crap, not the picture per se. That photo is a good match with the lyrics at 0:58. At least it is to me that's why I put it and also for historic significance within the context of an era. They may have cheated to you, but they were and remain the 1966 Football Worldcup Champions. Thanks for watching the clip.

  • Well LeipzigMod, wait and see next year, you never know, England might win its 2nd title ;)

Leaving no room for doubts that it is actually fair and well deserved :)

  • Well, maybe.

I just hope that Holland won't win the title ;-)

  • @Lory73 Honestly, I don't think England's going to win the cup...

PS: This time, it was a goal ;)

  • Go tell him Lory73

  • @Lory73 haha cheated. haha Steve would have kicked off if someone said that.haha I love this song!these guys should be remembered big time instead of being remembered to be remembered. think about it,it makes sense

  • @aadoyle7 Tell the German who made the "cheated" comment in the first place. Me I simply paid a tribute to a song I love by a group I love as part of an era I deeply respect and admire. Thanks for watching the clip.

  • @Lory73 thanks for making it! its quality!

  • Just admit you lost.

  • @LeipzigMod No they did not you bitter German, it has been proven with modern technology that goal crossed the line.

  • wow! what a song

the most underrated band in history

  • Steve Marriott's voice is incredible. He was such a legend.

  • Bravo!!!

    5*****

  • one of the best songs ever...

  • waow I thought it was Robert Plant at 1:10 !

  • Plant wishes he could sound like Stevie

  • Such a sad yet sweet song.

  • I saved this as one of my favaorites some time ago and I keep returning to this...absolutely brilliant what you have captured in the video to support the song is sheer perfection!!!

  • This track is fantastic, does'nt get much better than this. Marriott was a brilliant singer.

  • Thank you so much for this wonderful share - Love The Small Faces !!!

  • Gotta agree with Elvira! Great mate!!

  • great

  • There is no such thing as a "mod singer".

Steve Marriott sang rock. And pop. And R&B. And a show tune or two. Bottom line is that he sounded fantastic no matter what he sang and he gave everything he did everything he had.

  • IMHO Marriott was also a rock singer.

How can you describe his vocals on songs like Stone Cold Fever or The Fixer?

He was primary a soul-man and a blues-man but also a rock singer par excellence.

  • I agree with you steve was the best mod singer of the 60's his voice was distinctive and put everything into his songs

  • interesting song, brilliant imagery of london life in the 60s, thanks lory

  • @auntyl6549 Yes , livin.style 60 - 70 year s

  • Whoever wants to invent a Time Machine when you get such brilliant trips as this back to the 60s?

  • me :)

  • Wonderful video which fits such a complex song. fine, fine work!

  • And this was only a B side. Brilliant vocals. Love the mood b&w photos of the time.

  • They were simply brilliant

  • What a vocal! xx

  • beautiful, i miss marriot like fuck|!! finest white soul singer of all time, god bless xx

  • I have to disagree with you phre33k. I love Steve Marriott too but "finest white soul singer of all time"? He certainly one of the finest rock singers of all time, but soul is a different ball game. Off the top of my head I'd say Delaney Bramlett, Dan Penn and Felix Cavaleiri would qualify as examples of great white soul singers. As for females, I'd nominate Dusty Springfield and Bonnie Bramlett. Oh yeah, great video.

  • Well Steve marriott's vocal inspiration came from Soul, R&B and Blues.

    Or as he listed it:

    1. Otis Redding

    2. Howlin' Wolf

    3. Ray Charles

  • Superb vocal.

  • Ah Small Faces - Nice:) Choice Images.

  • fabulous video! rip steve and ronnie

  • Sad that Steve isn't around to see how much he is loved.Superb track and vocal.

  • Fantastic vocal as always from Steve, the small fakers should take note...or give up!

  • four small guys, but a great band. this is one of their best songs.

  • Fantastic video absolutely fits the song. It is exactly how you imagine 60`s London was. Everytime I listen to this song I cannot help but think how much of a loss to music Steve Marriotts passing was.

"Fab" Lory73 you should do more.

  • Excellent song and fantastic pictures fully compliment it :)

  • 1966 - 1973.

    Time of british masterpieces.

Belle vidéo et la chanson à pleurer à chaudes larmes.

    Thanx.

    Greetings from France

  • I mean, if it is a book, whats its name ?

  • no it is not a book

  • Hi Lory,

did you get the pics from the net or from a book ? Could you tell me its name ?

    Thx from Germany

  • Very well done. I enjoyed the vid very much 10/10

  • Marriott had such a complex, mature voice for so young a man. Thank you for this, I haven't heard this song in many years.

  • I thought I had every Small Faces song there was until I saw this! What a little gem ... thanks for the post.

  • Lory73, you've captured the perfect imagery for this song - right from the market scene to Swinging London. Well done !!

  • great video respect! very proffesional

  • yes one of the best they wrote..so lyrics were not their achillies heel

  • great song

    excellent video!

  • Brill....what a voice that man had...

  • I knew this from the 45 and I have to admit, the 45 version is better. The ending is quite different

  • I'll look out for the 45.How is it different by the way?

  • HEY YOU YOU who made this video ..god bless your fucking awsome

  • never heard this side of atlantic , our loss, only in-fans knew

  • you made such an amazing video with this, i love all the beatles, small faces songs and i have seen so many vids, this was fantastic, thankyou so much :) xxx

  • nice

  • this song makes me happy and full of hope

  • Happy and full of hope is a really good way to describe much of the Small Faces material.

  • this song isn't really full of hope if you pay attention to the lyrics....but i know what you mean

  • spot on, thank you very much!!!!!!!!!

  • Really nice & cool video.

Still, the best version of this great song was originally on the flipside of the "Itchycoo Park" 45.

  • great...i use to listen to this great song while i'm on the bus, going to school, early morning...so fantastic!

i wish i was a teenager in the fantastic 60's

  • anyone know who the pretty girl is at :32 ?

  • At 0:32 the brunette crossing her arms is Mary Quant.

  • I think this just may be my all time favorite Small Faces tune. No one could jolt a ballad to life the way little ol' Steve could.

  • Great video, brings back some memories. Shame it's all changed now , and not for the better. Life was simple music was great and kids were kids.

  • amazing song, their best ... :)

  • thankyou

    that is all

  • Dear Bluebird, believe me things were just as hopeless and desperate back then as they are now. The music was the only good thing there was. Maybe history will repeat itself and good music will come out of this sorry economic environment. Hard to believe the US is what the UK was in the 60s, poverty stricken and desperate. Art and music has always gotten people through bad times.

  • Thanks for your words DGV, they should prescribe the works of Marriott, Townsend and Davies on prescription!!

  • I believe you are right. But I think there was a sense of awakening back then, a kind of innocence, optimism - spite the dark times, and a feeling that things might turn out right in the end, a feeling that isn't around any longer. Maybe much due to how capitalism has taken over the world even more than it had then, and the people's apathy from being fed too much information and fear through the media.

  • nice one

  • LOVE this song!!! -Amanda

    :)

  • LOVE this song!!! -Amanda

    :)

  • The best Small Faces track ever!!.....This is a timeless classic......I wish I had been born in time to enjoy the optimism and energy of the 60's instead of this fucking nightmare that we all fumble through trying to pretend that everything is ok........thank God for good music !!

  • I love the track 'Get Yourself Together', I love the sentiment in that track, 'get yourself together you'll be all right...' I've always loved the Small Faces, always will, yeah, thank god for good music

  • nice montage!

  • Small Fakers on down the Standard on Feb 21st... I'll be there

  • im only 19 but was brought listening to this band.

    they are well underated

my dad used to watch marriott down the standard in walthamstow

  • Have loved this band for 40 years! Marriott was simply amazing.

  • Steve Marriott:you were a true original, the epitome of "Blue-Eyed Soul" and Rock music is IMMENSELY indebted to you, Sir..you will NEVER be forgotten!

  • What a vocal and only a b side!

  • you should check out frankie miller if you like these vocals
