It (the song) is also interesting 'cos it links the War On Drugs & the military- industrial complex; the illicit narcotics trade could not survive & allow amoral thugs to amass fortunes if it wasn't illegal, which seemingly obvious enough reality appears to not clicked with the general populace - well it's on T.V. is it? And all the more timely now, with America using Harmid Karzai, a major heroin trafficker, as a lackey in Afghanistan. Brave New World & 1984 can co-exist on one planet.
Always loved the song, nice video too, a bit more colourful & interesting than the usual cops-beating-up-protesters affair. That said, a truly representative global democracy (both civilian & militarily representative) may be the only way out of the evils & wars of the system of nation-states which allows unaccountable empires like the U.S. to profit from atrocity at arm's length. Dream on etc. & perhaps you're right; but what you're talking is a world ruled by the U.S. which is quite different!
