Well you can use MAX232 if you want to spend, but also you can interface it with transistors...

for PIC16F877A...which pin for the output?..are you use CCP1?

Hi, I've posted an oscilloscope trace of the i2c SDA signal for almost the same situation (mine's a 16F877A talking to a DS1307)
