  • This video inspired me to learn the piece - thanks for sharing the link to the sheet music! You put in a few extra key notes that i have been capturing; great job!!!

  • you are so cool! Go on :)

  • who else had a n64 and super mario 64 for it?

  • "That eel will haunt my dreams for all time."

  • This song is worth a million piano renditions.

  • Your version sounds really, really great, man, it's a pity that the sound is not much good (too much background hiss)...

    Congratulations, really a good job

  • Why the time needs to go on...?...I hate time...Its sooo...Unfair....I remember me playing this game and listening to this beatiful song....I was 7 years when i played this game for the last time...and now i'm 18...Here's my childhood...My little brother would never know how was the games of years agooo...The before games was sooo great and fun...now the games only matter are the graphics...its a shame...

  • comment about " swimming with a giant eel on N64 as a kid"

  • Brings back memories, and tears...

  • Wow man, this is incredible!

  • This is so calming whenever im stressed i listen to this it helps :)

  • I wonder how this would sound on a pipe organ?

  • just heard a kid in the lobby of my dorm playing this and i literally stoppped and listened through, though is was slower then this i just stood there smiling. such a great tune.... ahhh good times good times

  • This game came out a year after I was born.. I played this game when I was 3!!! :D I miss my childhood.. The game isn't the same with the nintendo DS =\

  • Well done on this. Being a senior music major in college bordering on graduation, I can relate after having practiced this song prior to recent rehearsals with my Jazz and Latin Jazz Bands at school. The mood of this song is the way I feel.

  • I just love Nintendo. Such fantastic memories. Great game.

    Nice played, too.

  • \/\/ nuff said, clearly my favorite game hands down. Great music as well.

  • oh, mario 64.. melancholy. Such a great game, i miss it.

  • One of the best things about Nintendo: Their soundtracks are the best.

  • Guy this is perfect!

Very good, I do not know how you touch base can background along with the main base

  • i still play the game it alwsome

  • This is a very good job it sounds almost exactly like the real dire dire docks.

  • haha. i found your sheet music once, and id never thought you had a youtube acoount. :P Nice job.

  • Absolutely beautiful. This is a magnificent piece and you are an amazing piano player. I could listen to this all day! Thanks for sharing.

  • They don't make video game music like this anymore.

  • @snaredrums123 Yeah they don't have time between rushing to get the next game in the series out.

  • @snaredrums123

Actually, they do. Super Mario Galaxy has an absolutely beautiful soundtrack, even better than Mario 64. Some of the music in that game is simply phenomenal.

  • that was awesome. Brings back memories from swimming into the depths of Jolly Roger Bay and Dire Dire Docks.

  • great work, I printed out the sheet music and will learn it myself!

  • Everything wrong in the world just became right for 4 minutes and 5 seconds.

  • WHERE DID YOU GET THE MUSIC???

  • @dozzaskebab

    Super Mario 64,

One of the greatest games of all time, I am not even kidding.

  • @snaredrums123 omg fuck yeah. But I thought it was a tad scary at sometimes, lmao! With boo being in the corridor and all...That freaked me out the most!

  • @dozzaskebab

People usually learn it by ear.

or on google look up Sheet Music for Dire Dire Docks for piano and download plus print.

  • lol in all those dire dire docks vid's everyone is talking about that eel, and not related to the video xD

    but yeah it was scary..

  • I enjoy trying to play the song with you

  • I love your arrangements!

Any chance you could post a video of you playing your arrangement of Hyrule Field from Ocarina of Time?

  • WTF?

  • Really good version 5 stars for performance, but personally I like the softer version, where ppl don't press the tangents that hard.

  • this reminds me of swimming with a giant eel on N64 as a kid

  • This one is unbelievable. Mine is based off of this one though we differ a bit in some of the timing....everyone has a different timing for certain notes and they all sound good in their own way.

    Fanastic job

  • I remember playing this level a lot just to hear the amazing music, man brings back memories....

  • Very very impressive. 5 stars for you :)

  • Awesome!!!

    Bring back good memories!

  • age is a terrible thing sometimes

  • This is awesome.. Very well dome, it's kinda like the sims buy/build mode but in a mario form lmao!

  • youre amazaing at the piano! i wich i could play!

  • Very Beautifully played. I tried your sheet music out and it's incredibly accurate. Keep it up and I hope to see more of your work!

  • excellent

  • those notes on your music sheet at 1:35 + are real tricky!!

  • very good

  • Hey nice website!

  • I remember back when I was like 7 and just got my N64. This was the first game I got because it came with it. Then the Zeldas' Star Fox, Bomber man etc.. I didn't have a care in the world, waking up at 7a.m and playing all day with my friends. Now I am 18 becoming a Music Major in college. I had no idea back when I was 7 that music could put such an impact on a games overall mood varying from level to level.

Now all I have to say is this... All Hail Nintendo, Fantastic job Heliumkidd! ☮

  • Without the fantastic music in many N64 games, I don't think I would ever have gotten into gaming.

  • I can agree to that. Kingdom Hearts always as a good soundtrack.

  • Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time had absolutely fantastic music. I still hum those tunes frequently!

  • @sputnikowns N64 is the reason I'm in art school

  • @Redd0346

I Have heard a lot of hat phrase "Mucis Major" whats that??

This song is awesome im learning it right now I wish they would make more mario games like this. I think this game succeeded becuase you arent directed where to go. this game lets you have freedom which door you want to open where you want to go on a level.

  • @Redd0346

Same here bro; you couldn't have explained my feelings any better.

I'm majoring in Music Technology, and there is no doubt in my mind that this music, along with others, helped form the love and passion that I have for music today.

  • @Redd0346 oh my goodness. We played the exact same videogames, and now we are both going into music because of them! Kondo is so amazing.

  • @Redd0346 dude, i know you heard this from manys already but straight up man, im turning 18 and going to a colledge to major in music cuz of video game's music like this that gave me so many feelings and emotions, its unbelievably wonderful.

  • @SinOfDrkness i was inspired to go into music because of music like this as well :D

  • Holy macarroni, this sounds just like the game itself

  • Awesome play dude, you inspired me to learn the song

  • Great job!

  • SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

    really awesome! congratulations.

  • :O

    <3

PLEASE do the credits from 64. That would be like insane.

  • That was very beautiful. I am going to learn this now, thanks for the sheets! :D

  • this is the best version of the pianos that I've heard. 6/5. ^_^

  • Aww, I remember this. Games just aren't what they used to be. So be it. GC and N64 kicked ass, amiright?

  • strait out those games you could beat a million times and not get bored

  • You took the words right out of my mouth.

  • Beautiful, I just wish it was in better quality!

  • Mine stil works :P Btw GREAY JOB

  • I always associated this song more with Jolly Roger Bay because it came before Dire Dire Docks. :P

  • Shit I wish games today were more like they were back then. Now we have Halo and Gears of war. I prefer the N64 over any game today.

  • who can't remember this game? its unforgetable. i played this all time. my sister had already had it when i was born, so yeah! the game broke a few months ago. it didn't work after that. so R.I.P. my super mario 64, 1996-2009.

  • Wow. just wow.

  • Beautiful

  • its abit hard timing the left hand with the right :p

  • This is a good rendition of Dire Dire Docks.

  • Thanks for the sheet music dude. Those tutorial videos where they just show you the keys to press don't work well at all..I need it written down.

  • Long time ago I played that game... I remember that it is in the ending theme.

  • Kewl, because I remember that is is not the ending theme.

  • ahh..... from super mario 64... back

    in the old days..

  • man this really brings back some good memories...

  • Wow this takes me back. This song almost made me cry the first time i heard it its such a beautiful song. Who says that videos games are not art this proves that in its own right a combination of various forms of artistic medium can produce works of art. So what if its supposed to be playable you never herd of "functional art" before?

  • aww...., i miss that game

  • A beautiful rendition, sir.

  • This rendition is the best I've seen. Thanks for the sheet music - I'm learning the piece now.

  • Absolutely PERFECT. It's been my dream to hear this song on the piano. This fulfilled every one of my expectations.

  • Sir. You win The internets. All of them-

Reason:"Allowing People To Hear to Great Music"

  • GENIUS I SAY! GENIUS!!!

  • is this supposed to make me cry? because it did...

I can't believe, that years after, I'd still feel a connection with the game as if it's part of my identity. Maybe I was just one of those exceptional kids who spent more time playing Mario 64 than going outside, but this is almost part of my identity. Is that weird? I think it is.

Your video brought back a lot. Thank you.

  • your not alone my friend, zelda and mario are a perfect set- i play them so much, im concidered to have "cabin feaver" its so rare that i leave the house

  • Man, you're not alone. I still have fond memories of Mario 64. It was a breakthrough in gaming history, as well. Not only was it one of the first games to have a true analog control scheme, it was also one of the first truly 3D games.

    Remarkable game, and remarkable video.

  • It really was, the voices were only short clips though, but who cares? I think if the game had more dialog it would have sucked. Anyway, it was a great game, and it's concept paved the road for many Mario games. (Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Galaxy, ect.)

  • i agree

  • your playing is so soulful. it's really touching to those who connect to the song. this one is my favorite!

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...........

  • This is awesome. :) I like this song, and you play it well.

  • It's exactly like the Super mario 64 Version!!!

  • .....only better.......

  • ahh... the memories...

  • WOW

  • that was awesome! Absolutely flawless!

  • -_- so...unfair...i want 2 play this good!!

  • I'm learning how to play this song too except with less bass clef notes than you played.

  • wow that is real cool. it brought back memories of super mario 64.

  • beautiful song..

  • I just really want to thank you very much for posting the sheet music on your site, I've been searching for years on and off searching for it.

It means a lot to me and I think you've done the world of music a wonderful favour for being able to play such a beautiful piece of music for those who want to.

I've been wanting to learn this on piano since the very time I played in Jolly Roger Bay, which was more than 6 years ago, and I finally now can!
