I think ann sanders ( later ann downing )gave the group a boost musiclly when she joined. she hit high notes without voice strain. she had such clearity. you hear it in all the recordings she made with the speer family.
This is wonderful! I'm sure many a video like this has been lost or destroyed over the years. Bless the Lord that beautiful songs such as this are still with us and that I am able to show my children. Thank you and God bless!!
Brother Arvin, is there a way to get a CD with old English Christian Hymns? I am Ukrainian, who lives presently in Colorado. I'm looking for Hymns like "Old rugged Cross", "How wonderful, how marvelous...", "Amazing Grace" and so on. I'd really like to have them all. When I listen to them my heart is broken and my spirit is meek, and my eyes full of tears. I'd really appreciate if you could help me to find CD's with those old hymns. May the Lord bless all those, who truly believe in Him!!!
Two records that my Mother bought in 1958 are Fred Waring's "Praise Him" and the Old Fashion Revival Hour. This hymn is on the Fuller record. Charles Fuller published a hymnbook with this song. When Myrtle Meyer of Orange, California died from cancer in 1982/1983 I received the Fuller hymnbook.
I thank you so much I just love the Speers and they have been a real blessing to me .Thank you for watching and I have also enjoyed and I have been watching your great channel and I ask all my friends to pop over and watch some of your great shows.Ridger 1978,would love to have you on my show.
Just added this to my Favorites. I agree with everyone else, the Gosple singers today are wondeful and inspired but the wondrous feeling I get from these old time songs is something I can only say Thank You Jesus. And thanks to Hymn Time Gospel Songs for keeping glorious songs like these available. I have added you to my list. May God continue to richly bless you .
Ann Sanders wouldn't by chance be Ann Downing in her early years? Thanks for posting these old videos... I love learning the history of Southern Gospel Music.
Such a great song & message! It seems now-a-days, everyone wants to "modernize" God and the Bible - what with the perVERSIONS of the Bible (everything other than the KJV), and the "praise bands" and 'contemporary "Christian" music' instead of the old hymns that people used to sing in 4-part harmony to the piano, from the HEART, the old-fashioned Southern way!
Like this song says: "If the Lord never changes as the fashions of men, if he's always the same, why, HE IS OLD-FASHIONED, then!"
AMEN

Is this from the Gospel Singing Jubilee show? As children we watched this show before church. It's great to see it again.

I always heard Dad Speer passed in 1966 and then Mom a year later. So I'm thinking 1967 or so.
