The only thing I can come up with is in bible times a woman's hair was considered her "glory" so cutting Gabby's hair was a humiliation. Another part of Cesar's punishment to the female prisoners, however Alti did not have her hair cut?? I guess its something as viewers we must go along with to get Gabby the cute pixie hairdo?? LOL

Season 5 starting with episode 2, 'Adventures in Sin Trade', Alti shows Xena the future, in which Gabrielle is being nailed to a cross?? Thus her sidekick is not dead but the vision plagues her with Gabrielle's impending doom.
Again in Season 5, episode 21 'Ides Of March',Her and Gabrielle both are crucified just as the vision fore told. Finally Season 6 episode 18, When Fates Collide... Caesar seems to tamper with fate but at last -- Can fate truly be change?
