  • Watched your dasher washer. I'm going to build one with a plastic 55 gal. drum with PVC for the agitator and hardwood for the handle. When I get it finished I'll post the video on my channel. We are preppers and live in South East Louisiana, well what's left of it anyway. Katrina completely change our landscape and took 70% of our standing timber.

Have a great day & God Bless.

  • @jerryt602 That sounds good....You can post it as a vr to this video if you want...I would like to see it when you are done....Thank you....

  • MISTY. I HOPE YOU WIN THAT BOW....MAN I WANT ONE OF THOSE DASHERS!!!!

  • @SuperJcollins Thank you!!!

  • Misty, I do not know if I told you but I own laundry business. My washers are 350 lbs loads! Wouldn't that be a big dasher washer? How many sticks handles would that have?....lol

  • @arkansasprepper Wow, that would be major, and I didn't know you own a laundry business...It would be more than a single persome could handle....lol...Thanks!

  • My grandmother had a washer you pushed up to the sink, one side for washing, and one side for spinning. Then it would all be repeated for rinsing. I have never seen one again, but have heard they are out there. She had the ringer in the basement, but her age it was hard to go down and up. We clothesline dry. Made ours with 4x4's into a T, with the coated wire(lasts longer in the desert). Have had friends ask how to make one. Line drying is a dying art, and I am hoping it comes back. Bless you!

  • @redscynder I can remember my mother having one of these washing machines when I was a child-in England it was called a 'twin-tub' washing machine :)

Quick question... how do you make your laundry detergent???

  • @bro031 Thank you!

  • Where can. I get more information on your lifestyle? I may be in the city but I am sure there are ways to be less dependent on society.

  • @sassylassy01 Thank you, I guess in my videos...

  • My aunt dried her laundry on a cloths line back in the 70's. She did a lot of canning because my uncle ran a sawmill and during the winter they couldn't work so she learned a lot of "pioneer" arts to keep her family going through the lean months. We lived in the country but my mom was a city type and. I never learned these arts. I always lived the smell of sheets and towels dried on the line. One of these days I want to get an outside clothes line.

  • @sassylassy01 Thank you, I hope you get that clothes line..../:-)

  • Self-sustainable, earth-friendly washer and the solar dryer, best brand around!!! Thumbs up Misty, you're purely INSPIRATIONAL!! =D

  • @qualqui Thank you so much!!!

  • I remember growing up, everybody had a clothesline in the backyard. Haven't seen one in years. What's your laundry soap recipe? Thanks for all your info. you pass along.

  • @frankie2234 I have a video of it, called Home made laundry soap....Thank you!!!

  • Love the "solar dryer" (except when there's no 'solar' around. LOL) I hope your entry wins that Bow for Serenity! God bless.

  • @thevillage70 No I do not have a clothes dryer, and the biggest city I live by is Dickson, Then Nashville.

  • Lol@ solar clothes dryer! I own one just like it. Best brand around! Haha! Good luck winning that bpw!

    Peace and Blessings!

    Beth :-)

  • @herbalcat Thanks....

  • 2 dislikes? looks like a couple tards need to pay attention closer, can only hit the button once, no room for oops's in this day and age.

  • @stealinator LOL...thanks!

  • @stealinator How do you dry the clothes below freezing tempratures?

  • @pettyofficer30 I bring them in to dry and hane them upstairs ,and the rest around the stove...Just do the best I can...

  • Misty you are truly one of the hardest working women in the land lol. I am wondering how you wring the clothes before using your solar dryer (lol)? God Bless you and your family. I love this and all you other video's. Thanks for taking the time to make and post them..

  • @jksatte Thank you so much! We just hand wung them, the heavy stuff, me and Serenity done it together..Just twist and ring...Thanks!

  • After watching this video, I am heading straight over to East Coast Prepper's site and nominating you to win the SHTF Prepper Skill Contest.

  • @yhird LOL..thank you...That is so sweet../:-)

  • @mmlrc6atgmailcom, I just nominated you for the contest on EastCoast's site. Hopefully he will accept my request Misty. I continue to be thoroughly impressed by your resourcefulness. Take care and God Bless.

  • Fantastic stuff as always. Good luck

  • @mctucky1 Thank you!!!

  • "solar clothes dryer"..........that cracks me up. Do you hang the clothes out to dry even when your machine is working?

  • @freakshow2000 That is what it is...lol, thank you...yes I always hang them out, I do not have an electric dryer....I bring them in to dry when it is raining....and I will bring them in tommorow to finish drying in the house if it starts to rain...

  • good luck misty

  • @ElCoyotefromTexas Thank you!!!

  • Praying for luck for Misty. I would love to contribute to the new washer fund. If you PM me an address then I will send you some washer money, from one prepper woman to another. God Bless.

  • @TheBonniebeme Thank you so much for the thought, but I can't let you do that, but times are hard. It will take us a good while to fix it, or get another one. But times are just to hard, you work hard for your money...Thank you so much though...May God Bless You.....

  • nice solar clothes dryer good luck in the contest

  • @rdnkrfnk Thank you Edward....

  • very cool

  • @trackerscott Thank you!!!

  • one of the things on my list of stuff to get is a wringer. My hands just aren't strong enough any more to wring out the clothes right. Good luck to you with all that wash!

  • @Herbalpagan Well, it is hard on my hands too..I have authritus (sp) in them, I could not do it w/o the girls...Thank you!!!

  • that was super awesome

  • @ironhead41 Thank you!!!

  • I thought the washer problem could be solved by cleaning the solenoid valve.

Yep, solar dryer most cost effective. My drying rack is next to the wall-heater. I suspect, the upstairs loft would be a good place to hang clothes when it's cloudy outside. (all the heat heads upstairs.) My parents had a clothes line next to the furnace in a little basement. It was the warmest place in the house.

  • @1023471965 Yes that is where I will put them after they drip tommorow...Thanks!

  • You Keep Smiling Misty.

I myself have 8 bags of laundry that I get to haul to town tomorrow and pay $4 a load to do.

If I can fit it into the car and the bridge is clear...

    Love that DASHER!

    Thanks for the Vid.

PS: Thanks to 50HennyPENNY for mentioning the buttons too.

I imagine this would be hard on buttons.

  • @Ladyshystar Thank you...I would do them in a bucket by hand or with a plunger before I paid $4 a load...wow, that is alot!

    Good luck to you....

  • @mmlrc6atgmailcom Well we just bought a nice wash tub and we have my grand mothers washboard for the little things. Most of our bags are bedding.

People don't realize what it costs. I don't have a washer here because we run on rain water. Guess I could spend $1000 on one of the new ones that only uses 10 gallons a wash...

That will be a while coming.

I go with a dasher instead! (Happen to have a neighbor that offered me a ringer!

    I AM SO LUCKY!

    Keep teaching lady!

  • @Ladyshystar We have lived on nothing but rain water before, for 10 years. It is hard, and the chances are we might have to go back to it someday....I would love to have somebody to offer me a ringer washer, I have wore out 4-5 of them....They do a good job, and you can do several loads in one batch of wash water, and all of them in one batch od rinse water..Thanks!

  • I'm sorry for you troubles Misty. 5 loads of laundry is hard enough but having no washing machine is truly a hardship. Let me know if I can help with the repair. God bless you.

  • @lauriegirl2 Thank you!!!

    God Bless!

  • does the home-made laundry soap have a fragrance to it, or does it just smell clean? I love the smell of sheets and towels dried outside on the clothes line, but it is problematic in the winter when the wood-stove is going 24-7 and everything has a tendency to smell of wood-smoke. My solution is to use drying racks in the house that sit around the stove. You get the 2 for 1 benefit of added moisture to the air and the whole house smells like clean laundry soap as things dry! I love your washer!!

  • @1dutchgrl my homemade just smells clean to me, but you can add some essential oil like lavender if you want. I've done that before and will again; IF I remember when I'm making it! lol

  • @1dutchgrl I agree with @Herbalpagan, after the clothes are not dripping, I will bring them in and hang them up stairs to finish drying...Thank you!

  • Having your washing machine break down on you was certainly a SHTF situation. Especially with a mountain of clothing to do! I wish you God's blessings, and I hope you get a replacement real soon!

  • @goldenscales It sure is....Thank you...

  • Buttons on your clothes it will break shank buttons. The manttines I have used a wringer.

  • @50hennypenny I only have had that to happen when I have run them through a electric roller to get the water out...

  • what about spring loading one side so you only have to pull. im going for the dehydrator or vacuum sealer i wanna make my own bow but need some good wood like Osage. how long does it take to dry when it cold 31 or less or can u?

  • @tankmdg interesting...Thank you...It freezes dry, when it stops dripping I will bring it in the house to finish drying...But freeze dryed clothes are so soft...

  • Solar clothes dryer lol. Good luck guys! Hope you win.

  • @mojopin12 Thank you!!

  • You need to get wringer attachment for your wash/rinse tub. Then you onlyneed tomake sure you haveflat

  • @50hennypenny I had one once, and it takes more time than it is worth...unless it is electric...Thank you!

  • tie a rope around the handle and the other end to mtn mans winshield wipers on the pickup. It might work.

  • @jwalk1014 LOL...thanks!

  • Good luck on the contest. Love the Misty Powred Washing Machine and the Solar Clothes Dryer.

  • @Allen2045 Thank you!!!

  • Now you need to tether that handle to one of your dogs. As he chases a stick around and pulls that handle back and forth for you! LOL

  • @MrBillTroop73 LOL...thank you,

  • LOL Good luck with the contest. Blessings!

  • @BexarPrepper Thank you...Blessings!
