If you like this you might love Brainticket's lp 'Psychonaut'- After a few listens it can get into the blood- a true classic. Trippy space-jazzrock- I think the musicians are punchingl below their weight. Not strictly Kraut- Swiss, German, Belgian members- classic female psych vocals of the genre too. Just a tip, hope you enjoy much.. probably some of it on Youtube
Soft Machine, but mostly Zappa/Mothers. Electronized sax sound, and early jazzy prog psychedelia, great !!! Today I bought a Xhol Altena 1970 live. Incredible, like this, with flute solo, and long tracks. Recommended stuff!!!
Tolle Aufnahme, vielen Dank. Out of Focus waren da wesentlich produktiver.
Zappa and the Mothers did it even earlier than the Softs. Softs was more vocal oriented and without the saxes up to 1969. This video is from, what, like 1969-70?
I wasnt limiting my comments to just sax based improv, i'm talking about jazzy jam based music in general, and soft machine are the pioneers. but if you want to talk sax, soft machine used saxes as early as 1962. On record they used sax on their album "Two" recorded feb 69. You can fine soft machine youtube vids from 67 with wild jazzy psych improv without sax. This Xhol video is from 1970 and who has heard of them? They were not widely known in europe. Soft machine was.
I can see the Soft Machine influence definitely. But I also think that Zappa was as big of an influence. The Mothers did jazz-rock kind of music as early as 1967 ("Invocation and Ritual Dance" from 2nd Mothers album is a lengthy guitar and sax jam that pre-dates the SM style in 1970). I also recommend YouTubing "Zappa King Kong 1968" and then comparing the result to anything on "Noisette" album. FZ pioneered electrification of saxes and Xhol Caravan here follow suit.
i didnt comment on zappa as i dont know his stuff as much, so i watched the King Kong on your suggestion and waas suprised that it is very soft machine-ish, so I'll agree with you on that. For electric sax, Eddie Harris was the pioneer. he used the gibson maestro system that does octaves in 1967, you can see it on youtube by searching: "Eddie Harris Listen Here" and the other black and white eddie harris vids
Y'shouldn't be. Zappa's late 60s output was almost entirely jazz fusion (up 'til Chunga's Revenge, from then on, his work was a mix mash of silly prog, fusion, and occasionally funky hard rock).
The latter half of this reminds me of Wigwam out of Finland

great film. Amazing.
The music is boring jazz lite.
I wouldn't call this space rock or Krautrock.
Maybe Kenny G-rock

Xhol Caravan, one of the greatest krautrock bands ever..soo dang good

the Soft Machine did this style first (1967-72) and better. This is too repetitive and stays in one key. search for soft machine on youtube.

...Yeah, you'll normally find that Krautrock is like that. LOL...
