I would recommend putting zinc oxide cream on after each and every bowel movement in the first month after surgery.

You know that they just have Zinc Oxide creams. The cream with the diphenhydramine is more for allergic irritation of the skin like with bug bites, as with the hydrocortisone cream. Zinc Oxide or another cream like Desitin work well also. There is also Udder Cream and Budreux's Butt Paste (that is the name not a joke). Both of these work well also. I don't have UC, but I used to get diarrhea a lot and all of these helped.

Thanks Dennis, My son never had Butt Burn but he is still dealing with pouchitis..

We use flushable wet wipes on him that help tough..
